ORIGINAL: BobHH Barry, Good hearing from you!! Hope all is well down your way. So you bringing anything new this race? What have you been doing? Bob Harris
All is well down here. I have two 424 planes that kinda fly and a couple of old beat up PRO 40's and I am really looking forward to coming to the Old Julian to race. I will be in town Thurs night so I can practice on Friday as the last three pole course I was on was Mulberry back in March.

RE: CLUB 40 MUFFLERS?
It has proven that any mods to the TT PRO 40 muffler slows the motor down. The difference between the plate and cone baffles are negligible. When Jim Duda did the testing a couple of years ago maybe the the cone baffle was 50 rpm slower. It has been proven that changing the stinger size and removing the baffles slows the engine down.

RE: Experienced with the TWM P-51 GS?
Well, it looks like the easy part is done. I am about at the same point of build that you are . I was thinking of building a fiberglass/epoxy dome cover to install on the back side of the firewall with a small drain hole to drain the carb spit and that would seal up the velocity stack while allowing enough airflow to the carb. The dome would be large enough to drill at least four 1/4" hole through the firewall to give additional airflow. I am not as scientific as you but my hole is about the same size as yours. The .64 cent question is how to install a good strong top cover to the motor box that will give added strength but will allow it to be removable. The reason I want it removable is there is so much room inside that could be used to mount the engine ignition box and other items that cannot be mounted on the outside due to the cowl fitting so tight. I guess I better put some other projects on hols and get back to work on the double trouble.

RE: Club 40 Pylon Race at WAAM in Tuscaloosa Aug 4th, 2012
I hear you Jim. I got one racer repaired and am working on the air frame to make the backup. Just need a motor and some servos. Was looking in the used engine box and the last .40 engine I have that is broke in just allows a quarter to squeeze in between the head and case. I need to tear it down and measure it. I will bring an extra Mode II plane in case someone needs it. Wife just learned today she has to work Friday sooooo, we may miss the Slow Lap event. I really wanted to win that one as I have a really slow motor that I think will get me there. We will be staying Fri and sat nights. I understand some of the Tx guys are also staying over Saturday night so hopefully we can get together bench race review the day, Tell stories and have some more good times.

Then, when I found them, they were out of stock at Tower. Anyway it is all solved and I can't wait to get back to finish building my first Gasser.

I looked up your link. The OS part #9 refers to the thrust collar. If it was me I would go down to HD or Lowes and look for a woorduff key that works and be done with it.[;)][:D]
