Brushless Motor Suggestion's
Hello all, I pulled my boat off the shelf after about a year and a half.I have been mostly into planes and need a little change of pace or variety[:D] Anyway im looking for some suggestions on what brushless motor and how many amps of a speed cotroller. I want to get some more performance out of her.Nothing crazy ,just a little more exciting. The boat is a 26 inch abs deep v that came with a brushed 550 motor.I also have a y534 prop on her I have 3s 2200mah lipo packs and 4s 3000mah lipos as well. I was looking at these motors but im not quite sure what kv motor i need using the around about same size prop. 1[link]http://hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=5146[/link] 2[link]http://hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idproduct=8594[/link] 3[link]http://hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idproduct=6530[/link] I have a cooling jacket on hand to fit the can without one. The stock brushed motor weighs 220 grams. I would also prefer to use my 3s packs in the boat.

RE: newb question on lipo esc n motor
ORIGINAL: fastcat777 oh yeah when it says runs 4s to 6s does that mean 2 3cells or 2 cells. or two 4 cell and or 2x 6 cells
All depends if they are wired in series or parallel going to the esc.

RE: newb question on lipo esc n motor
ORIGINAL: fastcat777 my question is looking for lipos to run. i read the jist of lipo reviews some make sense others is chinese to me. he said it could run 4s - 6s lipo does that mean 2 3s in parallel or 2 4s or 6s parallel cause thats how its set up not series.
To me it means good luck..Just kidding[:D] I would say it means two 4s - 6s in parallel if thats what it truly calls for.Two 3s in parallel is 11.1 volts Two 3s in series makes one 6s,4s is 14.8 ,5s 18.5 and 6s is 22.2 volts. You really should find out what motor it is you have and what the specs are for it to play it safe.

RE: ........."BELT-CP THREAD"........
ORIGINAL: kiwibob72 One quick question for you all, with the stock E-Sky 406A transmitter, do you find the ratchet on the throttle to be an issue? .... I found yesterday up until I bent my heli, that I could only set the stick either a notch above or below the perfect hover level (perfect was mid notch), thus causing the crazy up and down motion in the vid. Have any of you removed this pain in the A_S ratchet before, and if so, did it help??
Yes and Yes, If you open the Tx you will see the lever for the ratchet action held in place with a screw( if i remember correctly),some remove it and some put a piece of shrink tubing over it. Major brand name radios for helis come without the ratchet action.

RE: ........."BELT-CP THREAD"........
ORIGINAL: Diskware Hi, I have a mystery in my hand with my two Belt CP, maybe someone can shed some light on this. I had three Esky 3800 KV engines burn out on me one after the other. The engine got so hot after 1 minutes that the coils get burnt to a crisp. I got another one with another esc, pentium 30amp, bang the engine burnt again. Matter of fact the engine stay piping hot for a good 5 minutes after the battery has been disconnected. I tried and fried two other esky 3088kv motors, I tried another pentium 25 amp esc, same thing happens. The motor runs freely and is well adjusted to the main gear. Now I have three motors in order plus two more esc. Any suggestions ?
check your motor mount screws.there have been reports of them being to long and shorting the motor and or esc.i upgraded to the aluminum one off the bat.Hope this helps good luck and have fun.
ORIGINAL: Sirelric I run my shockwave 26 at least 600 feet. The only time I have any trouble with range is when a toy boat floods the radio signal I am using or if there are other strong AM transmitters around such as some of those walkie talkies they sell. I am planning to move over to FM some time this summer.
might as well go to 2.4 if you can
