ORIGINAL: jacob711 i think i have now decided on getting a cat because i dont really have the tools or paitence to build a wood hull properly and i dont want to buy them plus i dont really have anywhere to run a rigger here, i was thinking of getting one made in all black with chrome windscreen, has anyone ever owned a black boat and was it hard to see
I had a all black mono, and a black top white bottom cat, and they were not hard to see at all. Gordon Jennings said it best.... "Less, in the context of premix lubrication, isn't more; it's less, just as logic always insisted" keep on keepin on... ill stick with 8-10oz in any motor that goes in my boats.

These arent weedeaters we are using the motors in. Marine motors are constantly having a heavy load put on them. I dont go by what the manufacture says to run in the motor.... i go by what has been proven to work. But hey do as you please... by all means, Fuji certainly seems to know what they are doing, their casting qaulity proves it [8|]

what exact mixture is that.... i dont know what "35 to 32 percent" is. how many ounces of oil per gallon are you running? If you stick your finger through the port and rub the piston, is there a film of oil on it?

RE: Intresting read
always been to look at the area under the curve. Ever wonder why a Supra that makes 1000hp runs like shit in a standing 1/4 mile... but runs from a roll like a animal. When you make nothing for HP until it rapidly peaks for a couple hundred RPM, then drops like you shut the motor off... thats not usable power. And still waiting to see a dyno sheet of the Zen7 that makes a PEAK hp of 7.3 at 18600rpm

Just put a Zenoah with a good pipe in it and be done with it. While the CY's do make more power... they still have more reliability issues then the zenoah.

RE: SIKK engines
ORIGINAL: Jager 247 marno1fan, lots of people use sikk over zenoah for that thunderboat class. to run that class you to use a stock motor, so the higher hp & RPM's from the sikk motor come in handy at that point
actually it depends what district you are in. From what ive seen, pretty much all NAMBA districts will be running Zenoahs ONLY in thunderboat class. The Gas Cup in Vegas this year is also goin by Zenoah only rules in the thunderboat class.

RE: is 60mph possible
ORIGINAL: ken0276
ORIGINAL: jacob711 so how much difference in speed would there be between a rigger and cat, id prefer not to build another wood boat because it takes me too long and its hard to find the right size wood here but if the rigger is a good amount faster id consider the rigger. ive also been thinking about the hydro in the link but it doesn't look to me a true hydro because of the weird bottom on it, it looks like it is built to drag its arse along the water slowing it down which defeats the purpose of a hydro http://cgi.ebay.com.au/45-ArrowShark-X-Hydro-Hull-suit-23cc-26cc_W0QQitemZ290060306701QQihZ019QQcategoryZ19166QQrdZ1QQssPageNameZWD1VQQ_trksidZp1638.m118.l1247QQcmdZViewItem
Let say you are running a 7.3HP@18600RPM Zen7 engine on your 41" Cat with a 4.484" pitch 6717/3 prop, the speed will be 63.2 MPH, if this same engine and prop running on a 40" gas rigger, the speed will be 67.1 MPH, about 5% difference in speed that between a rigger and cat.
how do you figure these numbers? If you are using the online calculators.... you'd have to actually know how much prop slippage there is, which i doubt you do. 7.3@18600..... never seen a Zen make peak hp so high in the rpm band...........

Futaba wouldn't be bad if you didn't need to store your failsafe in your digital servo, spektrum radio's store it in the RX. Futaba is good for RTR's but if you want a good system stay away from them.
Thats ok.... when a tech at Spektrum told me himself NOT to run their system in a boat.... it was clear to me they still have not worked out the bugs, even with the new "Pro" system. RE: 51 mono what to push it
Well, the motor pictures is the Fuji BT24 or whatever they called it. Basically... its a paperweight. With a budget of $500 for a motor... you can look into getting a stock Zenoah 260 with 0 band aluminum RPM pipe combo from Oneil Brothers. It will set you back just over $300, and have money to spare for other things you will need/want. http://www.oneillbrothers.com/rcboat/more_info/motor_pipe_package.htm With only a $500 budget, there isnt many options other then a Zenoah or Sikk 25.4 or 27 once you add the cost of a pipe.

RE: IV bag ?
you cap off the fitting thats connected to the "white" block that the primer bulb is attached to, on top of the carb. The only line you need going to the carb is the fuel inlet... and yes, you will cap the other line off, or you can use the other line on the bag for filling it up. After this, you no longer use the primer bulb. Just cover the carb with your finger... pull a few times til you have fuel on your finger, then fire her up.

RE: IV bag ?
I also do my bags two ways.... for a long time i just cut a piece of 5/32 brass tubing around 1" or so... stuck about half of it inside the tygon, then slipped it inside the bag and ziptied. A member from another forum talked about a way he does it, which i tried out on my last 2 bags...and it has worked great sofar. Take the tygon, and put some superglue on the outside of it around it. Then slip it into the bag and twist it to make sure it covers the entire thing... then let it dry. This actually bonds the fuel line to the outlet on the bag. No zipties, no nothing. I also no longer use tygon. Ive been using this fuel line from Daves Motors.. http://www.davesmotors.com/store/product623.html Great stuff... very strong but still flexable enough for some of the ways the fuel line needs to be routed in our boats. In "raw" form it is tough to get over the fittings.. so i put it in boiling water for a few minutes to soften it up a little... goes on easy then tightens itself back up on the fitting. I also like the fact that you can get it in colors other then yellow ;)

RE: IV bag ?
With an IV bag you do not need to run the overflow line from the carb back to the bag. You can either A. cap it off, or B. run a line to the outside of the boat. When you fill up the bag, there is a little bit of pressure inside the bag.. this and the pulse easily pulls the fuel to the carb. You just put your finger over the venturi and pull a couple times to prime the motor.
