RE: 100 MPH GLH ASP .12...???
CP that pressure fitting has bothered me too, (as to how you did it). Let me guess, did you drill thru the lug with the tap drill; tap it and then plug the bottom? I can’t feature a bottoming tap that could do it otherwise. Just curious. al

RE: High speed designs?
ORIGINAL: combatpigg This is most likely my fastest 1/2A plane, but it never got clocked. It was built and flown in 2005. The engine was run by Bill Hughes at a FAI World Championships and I bought it from him ready to rock. I estimated the top speed around 160 mph, based on what I knew 160 mph looked like with Q500 racers. The G&Z .061 ran at 42,000 on the ground [add close to 10% rpm as a rule of thumb for unloading]. 4.2x4 APC prop as well as some carbon props from Steve Wilk [Eliminator Props]. The sound it made was Satanic. By the time the plane was retired, the paint on the fuselage in the engine area was roasted dark.
HOLY SH**!!!

RE: Wen Mac N/Valve.
Steve, This is the ideal time to get yourself a Sherline lathe with threading attachment. [:)] (except I’m not kidding). It will cut threads from 5 to 80 TPI and 2.0 to .25 pitch metric. You never know when you might need to cut an oddball 17/32 X 40 thread for example. Every modeler needs a small lathe whether they know it or not. Al.
ORIGINAL: aspeed That is kind of wierd.  Some people call me Big Al too.  Why do big guys fly 1/2 A ?
Hah, I’m definitely not a big guy. Thanks Andrew, That was done some 35 years ago long before I acquired my Sherline lathe and mill. It was done painfully with needle files and drills in a pin vise. Sure would be easier and to do a neater job today! Al

Yes they respond very well. This engine was installed in a Jr Falcon and would not run out a tank. This mod cured it. It would run the entire tank very consistant. Al
