RE: AK Models F16 Test Build/Fly Prototype Project
Sorry Gents I have been away from building and RCU ..so ...how is the building going ??? any flights yet .... as for the main gear going forward I think I put the information in this thread someplace if not I will re -read and and add the information. the location for the gear is still well behind the C/G when down for a good balance on the ground ..when retracted the front main kinda cancels the mains out when retracted so all is good . Cheers for now

RE: need help picking first
Hmmm with the OS55 that I have with the Jett Muffler (red one ) I can prop it with a MAS 11x7 scimitar 2 prop on the ground for 14,500 rpm and can hear it unload in the air ..( not sure to what RPM in the Air ..but would think maybe up to 15,500 or more ) as for the AX ..not sure what that would mean ...maybe if you sent OS a email they can tell you.

RE: need help picking first
How about a nice OS 55AX ... weight is about the same .... fits a .46 motor mount and puts out a bit more power at 16,000 1.75 hp ...you can enhance it with a Jett muffler as well.

Ser00 you can re read this thread and you should be able to pick out the updates or changes made... big one is the placement of the main gear ... next would be the c/g at 6 3/4".

RE: AK Models F16 Test Build/Fly Prototype Project
Ser00 I can not answer for Alex and I do NOT know why he is not shipping out the kits.... You may want to reconsider his offer of sending you the kits with out the nose/tail cone ... that way you will have the better part of your investment in hand .... I was going to build my own nose/tail cone if he had not come up with the ones from Kit #2 that had a bad take off. His communications skills ( for the business sake ) are a bit lacking .... I do know and have read that other customers have had delays of shipment of other kits ..BUT.... he has always ( that I know of ) completed the sale. I will remain positive that he will send you good news that they are on the way to you.

RE: AK Models F16 Test Build/Fly Prototype Project
Ah yes the nose and tail cone... they will save a lot of work... as soon as they arrive Alex will ship the kits out right away as it is in his best interest to get a few more in the air. hang in there [:D]

RE: Global Cutlass 45 new build with MODS
Nope did not use the tray at all ... Had put in its place the rudder servo fixed to a tray that I made myself...but have now taken it out ..rudder servo that is ... the only thing coming out of the wing in the middle is the two servo wires that's it.

RE: Global Cutlass 45 new build with MODS
You can use the nose ring as the spacer for the Spinner/nose cone you are going to use..... What I do is take strips of 1/16" balsa and outline the back plate of the spinner ..then take the nose ring and tach it to the balsa on the back of the spinner ... then when you mount the spinneron the engine it will show you how much you may have to remove from the blocks or add to them to keep it flush. when you have the nose ring in place ( glued to the balsa blocks the ones that shape you engine compartment )you can break it free from the balsa on the back plate ... then remove the balsa from the back of the spinner and you have a very even space 1/16" wide all the way a round the back of the spinner.

RE: Global Cutlass 45 new build with MODS
[sm=red_smile.gif] OOOPS ..have the Cutlass and Contender mixed into this build ( The Contender had the front scoop ) [X(] ..On pages 4 and 5 there are some pics of the engine side hole that was made .... I used a Dave brown .40 size mount for the GMS. With the mount in place you can cover in the engine area ...with this done you can then cut in the hole for the engine then trial fit the motor to the mount and then adjust your front spinner ring and glue into place .....then use your preferred method to fasten the engine to the mount.

RE: Global Cutlass 45 new build with MODS
Yes make sure that you have your nose gear block mount and that the engine mount is in place as well then you can glue the blocks in place but you will have to cut and dremel out the opening for the engine ... I think it was about this time that I made the front scoop for the air intake ...sure helped with cooling the engine and side mounted muffler. Are you side mounting the engine or going with the top mount?

RE: OS 55ax
I have two OS55ax one on a f-16 and the other on a F-18 ...both run Jett muffler with a 11x7 Master Air Screw 2 scimitar 10% fuel Hanger 9 super plug and local field at 2300' Ground tach to 14,500 with room to spare on the top end ..you can hear them both unload in the air ...but ground run at 14,500 should be 2.232 HP is this about right?
