"Here is a tuned pipe equipped OS 46 AX that really hauls. I think an old Rossi pipe, but any Macs for a .46/6.5 engine will do. " Very nice, clean installation. I hate to display my ignorance, but what method is used to attach the pipe to the fuze?

Incidentally, I lived in Casper, WY for @ forty years. During WWll Yeager trained at Casper Army Airbase and wrote about his experiences there in one of his books. Great photo, thanks for sharing. Old school all the way with those Custom Woodcraft Flight Boxes and great looking pattern ships. Not an electric, or a Yak anywhere in sight! [;)]

RE: Midwest AT-6 Help
Hello all, I was lucky enough (some say) to come across a complete Midwest AT-6 kit NIB yesterday and it appears to be complete less the plans and builders/owners manual.
It is not my intention to hijack this thread, but I have a question which has bothered me for some time and which I hope that someone can shed some light on. Why do people remove the plans, instruction manuals, decals, etc. from kits and engine boxes and leave the rest of the contents undisturbed? I cannot possible tell you of the number of pristine kits and engines that I have encountered which are missing some or all of the above mentioned items. It just doesn't make any sense to me. Can someone fill me in on this? Thanks!

RE: Seaplane pictures
This Cub was built by master craftsman Fred Hildebrand of Casper, WY and presented to me when I moved to Lake Havasu City, AZ. It was built from a Goldberg kit with Goldberg floats, Solartex covered and powered by a K&B .65. Fred said that it took him longer to build the floats than it did to build the airplane. This photo was taken at Lake Havasu in November of 2009. It must have been pretty cold that morning since I have on a sweat shirt. [;)] It just doesn't get much better that this! [:D] Thanks, Fred!

RE: Float Fly!
25th ANNUAL LONDON BRIDGE SEAPLANE CLASSIC SPECIAL EVENT Due to a special request from several long time attendees at our float fly event we will be having a trial Night Fly, Special Event, for larger airplanes during our 25th Annual London Bridge Seaplane Classic in addition to our over grass/and night time park-flyer event. To be considered for flying the Qualifications are: 1. AMA insurance/membership is required and AMA cards will be checked. 2. Flight worthy, proven aircraft that meet AMA regulations for model aircraft. 3. Time will be between 7:00PM and 9:00PM on Friday, October 4th. Meet at beach, Flight Line, at 6:30-6:45. 4. These larger airplanes can only be flown over water in designated areas, (same areas as used during daytime water event) during specified night time flying hours. For Safety, all larger aircraft must be on 2.4GHz. 5. Additional Saturday night flying of larger airplanes over water may be added if there is enough interest and boat Captain is available. 6. These larger airplanes will not be allowed to fly over land or outside of designated night-time flying hours. 7. An aircraft lighting system is required that will allow pilot to adequately see and control their own aircraft. 8. Aircraft MUST be on floats, since no flying, take-offs or landings will be allowed over land for these heavier aircraft. A small retrieval fishing boat will be available during specified time that can be used to retrieve up to 12# airplanes. Use larger (heavier than 12#) airplanes at own risk, since larger airplanes may need to be towed back to shore, since one man (Boat Captain) will need to lift the aircraft into small retrieval boat. A designated Boat Captain will be available during specified night time flight hours. We hope this event will be a positive experience and provide added enjoyment to all who attend for either flying or viewing.. Carl Anderson, Float Fly Chairman

RE: Is it a Giles
Will, I am refering to the vertical joints between the fuselage sides and the fuselage formers. Two joints in the rear, and two in the front, as I recall. My Giles is in storage at the moment, so I don't have it to look at for reference.

RE: Is it a Giles
Will, That's good news on the cowl and canopy. One small hint: These airplanes were very weak in the wing saddle area. I would recommend that you reinforce all of the joints in the wing saddle area with balsa tri-stock. Good luck with your project.

RE: Is it a Giles
That is an old, long discontinued Great Planes Giles 202. At one time, in the early 2000s,you could get them delivered to your door for $175.00. I'm afraid that the kits and replacement parts are long gone. I saw a cowl come up on fleabay several weeks ago. I have also seen a few nib kits come up on fleabay. I still have mine. It flies really heavy with a 1.60 and I only fly it when i feel the need for a pucker factor rush. They are rather striking looking with that "Tuitty Fruitty" color scheme. You might try one of the aftermarket fiberglass companies for a cowl, and adapt a canopy from another quarter scale Giles. It might not look great, but a least you could get it into the air. Good luck in your search for a cowl and canopy.

RE: Enya 45SS (ring)
Good Morning CustomPC:
BTW, don't forget the carb has 3 adjustments. There is an air bleed which is used to adjust the idle. I was forever chasing needle settings because the airbleed was rich from the factory which tricked me into setting the low needle too lean for a good idle. The result was poor transition in the midrange and back to idle.
Can you recommend a starting point for the air bleed screw? I have an SS .50 Ring that I have been chasing needle settings for about three years! [:@] I have never been able to get this engine to maintain an acceptable idle and transition properly. Thank you for any assistance which you, or anyone else, may be able to provide! Regards!

Dave, To the best of my knowledge, there is no "instruction manual" for the Lou Andrews Aeromaster Too. The photo sheet which was included with the kits is the "instruction manual".

One small tip for what it is worth. The secret to sharpening a knife is knowing when to quit. The same applies to sanding, don't go overboard. I sanded through all of the cap strips on my first build. [:o]
