RE: How to rebuild a RAM 750..cause I dont know..lol
You realize that you are saving yourself about $800.00 by doing this! So much for the "need" to send it back to the factory, huh! Good job!!

I'll give you $500 above whatever Airplanes400 offers you for the two-seater F-100, or whatever you want for it. Plus, I'll fly out to Texas to pick it up.

I told one girfriend that I would be flying my R/C planes at my field so that I could really be with another woman. Is that what you meant by asking about my R/C related plans?

RE: Lithium Ion batteries
ORIGINAL: tsymonds Fender, Did it ever occur to you that nearly every thread you post in turns into a pissing match between you and everyone else? I figured with your self implied Apache IP superiority you would have been able to figure out that the common denominator is you. You say your open to discussion but it always seems to be an open discussion as long as it's your way being the better one. I don't post here much at all but read a lot and can honestly say seeing you leave the forum will probably help the rest of us out a lot. BTW is there anything left of your F-16 to grind off or is all in the DustBuster already?
The only thing I notice is that the "in' crowd of jet girls want to echo their self-imposed egos and rhetoric amongst themselves without being challenged. So they immediately go on the attack if anyone new has ideas of their own. This sickens me, and any on-lookers to no end. It's not the money that keeps some people away from jets ... It's the ignorance and cattiness of many of the jet 'girls' that keep new people away. Who in their right mind wants to be a part of that, or associated with the BS! Yes, I fly jets, both real and these toys. I would never treat or talk to anyone in the manner I see here.

RE: BVM Jets Photo and RC Plane Bomber
Continuing in your line of reasoning; we should also ban guns, bullets, kitchen knives, heavy objects, cars, gasoline, rope, duct tape, pillows, any sharp or pointed object, razor blades, tools, chain saws, hammers, screw drivers, rocks, sticks, bottles and any form of glass, etc. because all these things have been used in murders. You cited the recent incident in Colorado in your reasoning. Do you also worry that guns will be banned, or should be banned because of the incident? Its not the things that kill people or commit crimes ... its the people! With a little imagination and a bit of sick inspiration, anything can be used to harm or kill another. So based on your reasoning, everything except cotton balls should be banned from the American market. Oh wait! Somoene can stuff them down anothers throat to suffocate them. Add cotton balls to the list of banned items! Maybe we should ban scaples too? While surgeons use them for operations, they have been used in enough crimes and murders to worry the average paranoid person! Bob was well within his rights to tell you to stay out of his business. I think you would get the same response from Macy's if you were to call them and warn them about the dangers of pillows, and why they should not photograph attractive women sleeping on a pillow. All because some sicko might get the idea to smother someone while they are sleeping! Don't let paranoia get to you.

RE: going to open my own lhs
First, every supplier will force you to order their full line of products for your opening order. That order will total 25k~50k, depending on vendor. This will happen with all vendors. Many of the products you will not want because you know they will never sell, and you will be stuck with. But they don't care, it's their way of off-loading their junk. Next comes fees, taxes, insurance, leasing agreements, more spent money, added expenses that no one told you about, headaches, more fees, more costs, more taxes ... and you still haven't opened the store yet. Then, you will see that people don't want what you have in your store, so you will have to special order it for them. Then you will notice how cheap everyone is. They will want you to compete with every price out there. If you love the hobby, then it might be good for you, but don't expect to make any money. Rather, you will lose money ... a lot of money, and you will be working for $1 an hour. The Pros; It will get you out of the house. Your wife will leave you. The Cons; Your girlfriend will also leave you. You will lose your house. The hot 20something cashier you hired to lure in customers will not sleep with you. You really should re-title this topic to, Not going to open my own LHS.

Tower Hobbies not doing their discounts anymore?
For the past several years, Tower Hobbies has always had several monthly discounts every month for different levels of purchases. I haven't seen this in nearly 4 months or more. This is since I stopped spending $300 a month or more with them. I also notice that Tower is not sending emails about additional discounts unless you keep spending lots of money with them every month. All this, despite being in their Super Saver Club. Anyone else notice this?

RE: New Turbine Engine Company-Xtreme Turbines!!!
Extreme, Like Todd of Dreamworks wrote, "Marketing 101....Have a competitive advantage! This is what draws your customers to you business/product." MARKETING 101 thru MARKETING 505 Rule# 1 - Sex sells! Rule# 2 - See rule # 1 So, find a few beautiful women in their mid 20's (Miami has thousands of them), put them in bikini's and take pictures of them holding your turbines, as well as standing next to guys who are flying jets with your engine in them. Your tag line can be, "These girls are fast, but our engines are just a little faster!" or Forget the Lamborghini ... These turbines are faster and attract more women! Then watch at how many of these people flock to you for an engine.

RE: New Turbine Engine Company-Xtreme Turbines!!!
ORIGINAL: FenderBean [:)] Man tough crowd around here
Extreme, I'm so sorry about all this. It's all my fualt. Like Fender writes, this is a tough crowd. But again, this is all my fault, and I apologize for all the attacks you are getting. It is all my fault. I was late in sending out everyone's medication this month. After seeing all this, I realized my blunder and sent out everyone's meds via FedEx next day delivery. They should all have it by Monday, and most of them should have it today. I wish you well with your new business. I know it involves at least an initial $100,000.00 investment on your part, with another similar investment in the next year. These people who attack you couldn't come up with that kind of cash, or be willing to enter the business themselves and take the risk you did. It's way too easy to criticize than to undertake the task. Secondly. Do you see how cheap they are? Right away they want you to give your product away with a low-ball price that suits them! If you did that, you'd never be able to raise your price to make a profit! Crazy, right! They even concern themselves with the packaging! That's even crazier! They don't realize how much packaging costs! Let alone developing a custom design!!! It's not like no other turbine manufacturer started out in their garage with a CNC machine! Even the so-called big guys are nothing but a mom-and-pop shop with employees of 8 or less. So, until the "big guys" are really big ... with employees of 300 or more, they are still not a company to be called big. Basically, this is just a handful of people who will not influence your business one way or another. The "turbine world" is much bigger than what you see here. Best of luck. Now, sit back and grab some popcorn and see how many people attack me for writing this! Have fun!!!

RE: flying close to small airport Police on the scene
A control tower out-ranks you. Also, ATC out-ranks you, and a complaint out-ranks you. The officer was doing his job by responding to the complaint. If he shows up again and recognizes you, he could cite you with trespassing, pending a court appearance. I doubt you want that.

RE: Do junior members have the same insurance coverage?
AMA insurance is secondary insurance to a homeowners policy, or any other policy someone has. I myself, really don't see any insurance protection coming from the AMA at all. According to the AMA, your homeowners insurance coverage has to pay out the claim first. Then, if there are any damages above the homeowners coverage, you then file for an AMA claim. As far as I can see, a typical coverage of a homeowners insurance policy is for half a million dollars, or more in damages. So, that will probably cover the entire claim for damages that our R/C toys can do every time. I really can't see any of our planes or jets causing more than a few hundred dollars worth of damages unless it hits a Lamborgini or a Ferrari. And a homeowners policy sould still cover that. So, there really is no insurance coming from the AMA. Unless perhaps, the AMA menber has no insurance at all. Would that part be correct?

RE: when/how did you know you wanted children or not?
gaRCfield, While you may think you are in a stable marriage, most of the time you are not. So, remember this advise. Once she gets pregnant and has a baby, you will find yourself divorced. Something happens to women after they have a baby. Then, they blame you for everything. Nothing you can do will change that. Their hormones change and they suddenly want a different life ... without you. I think about 80% of marriages fall apart after the birth of a baby.

RE: Cutting own parts vs. Laser cut parts
I'm more than happy to pay for the laser cutting. Can be done in a day verses me spending months to cut the wood. I only did that once .... about 23 years ago. Before laser cutting was invented for this hobby. Cutting wood parts is like going back to the stone age. No one wants to do that again!
