RE: Official Tamiya TT-01 Thread
Haddi Taha, I think the problem is that your pinion gear is worn out, causing it to strip your spur gear. I recently had the same problem. The stock Tamiya pinion is too soft and wears out too quickly, especially with brushless power. I'm using the stock 19/61 gearing, so I upgraded to Tamiya's 49232 (Hard Coated 0.6 Aluminum Pinion Gear 19T/TL-01). You can also use ones from Robinson Racing, they should last longer than the standard Tamiya "AV" pinions. RE: Restore, Not Destroy! LB's Tamiya Stadium Blitzer Project!
ORIGINAL: grater Took the ST for a spin to get an idea of the motor temps. After 5minutes of running the sports tuned was at 90F which isn't that hot. I will do a longer a run and get some more readings.
The cool weather is probably helping to keep you motor cool. 90F is the outside temp here, so my motors heat up to about 140 to 150 after a 5 minute run [:@]

The TEU104 can handle 2S lipo, but you will need a cutoff. I use a Novak smart Stop, it works great. Wired mine to a deans-to-deans cable, that way I can easily transfer them to my other cars.

RE: What is an M-Chassis for?
ORIGINAL: Benbot So they exist in the same scale as the 1/10 cars, but are there to provide more realistic scale to the smaller vehicles of yesterday? What about scale model detail and accuracy? The 1/10 scale bodies are pretty simple and don't (at least not when I was building a few years back) include details like side mirrors and wipers. Do they now? Or is that level of model detail solely the realm of the M-Chassis size? I guess what I'm asking is what does the M-size offer that the other sizes don't? Anything?
Tamiya bodies hands down have always been the most scale. If you don't believe me, then watch this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lSvfF7QDjeE They have always included details such as side mirrors, plastic wings and chrome grilles/light buckets and cockpits, where applicable. What the M-chassis does offer is a lot of fun. It's also one of the cheapest ways to get started in racing. Their turning radius is also small, so you can run them indoors. I'd go with Tamiya over HPI, but that's just me.

RE: A Mini Cooper, A Drifter, And a Porsche
The M03 is FWD and will not drift. I already tried it [;)] The Mini Cooper body will not fit the TT01, it's too short. You might be able to fit the Porsche body on the M03L by converting it to a FF02, or you could just buy a FF02 and get a Porsche shell for it. The FF02 is basically an M03 with a longer wheelbase extension and longer arms. The only problem is that the steering servo is on top, so you might not be able to fit low-nose bodies properly. M03 and FF02 should pretty much be equal when bombing around the parking lot, although the FF02 will be more stable due to the longer wheelbase and wider track. And yes the HPI Miata body will fit the M03L, but you will have to configure it to Medium wheelbase by using the shorter chassis extension which is included in the kit. [image]http://www.tamiya.com/english/rc/beginner/beginr_img/ff02.jpg[/image] Another option is to get two M05s. You can fit the Mini Cooper S body on one, and install a 3Racing 257mm wheelbase extension kit on the other, so you can mount standard touring car bodies like the Porsche. However you will still need to install longer arms otherwise it'll look weird [:D] [image]http://www.tamiya-store.com/shop/images/new/M05-31_LB.jpg[/image]

RE: []TEX[] & Lunchboxer's Spec Race Build Diary-Suzuki Swift M03
Couple of updates over the weekend.. Took the manta ray diff from my TA02 and rebuilt it with new balls and plates. Used AW grease and screwed it on tight. Installed it in the M03 and off to the track I went. Wow! Car drives so much better with the ball diff. Steering felt better, and the mini exited the turns quicker [8D] Was still struggling with traction roll though, so today I went to a couple of hobby shops to do some shopping [:D] Picked up a set of 3Racing shocks. Would've wanted the TRF ones, but the LHS wants $65 for it. For a mere $21 for the 3Racing, I had to try it [;)] Also picked up a 3Racing High Torque servo saver and TL01 Stainless Steel Suspension shafts. The shafts won't make the car go any faster or handle better, but it was cheap so I thought why not? [:D] Disassembled the shock, and slipped on 5mm of rubber tubing to reduce the shock length View of the inside and the bottom Filled with some silicone oil Comparison between CVA Mini II shocks, TRF 42102 and TA03 Super Low Friction. The 3Racing ones are actually pretty good. Build quality is not on par with TRF, but the damping action was just as smooth. Finally installed. Next up would be to get a set of tuned short springs, M03 aluminum servo horn, and finally the universals. These are still out of stock at the LHS, might have to order online. Then I think that's it! [;)]

RE: Official Tamiya TT-01 Thread
ORIGINAL: Redvanmafia do i need a metal geared servo for my tt-01?, or is it excessive. also with my 5.5t motor installed there seems to be a fair amount of binding, but with the motor out it runs smooth, the diff's are fine they seem to be working the way they should. its running the stock 19tooth pinion and stock spur (don't know how many teeth it is), i got it together in about 3 1/2 hours its looking pretty good, its a BMW M3 body on it, i'll be getting paint for it tomorrow then i'll take some pics and possibly some video thanks for the insight guys
A metal gear servo is not really a necessity if you just bash around the street or parking lot, but it is nice to have. What do you mean by binding? If you're using the stock gearing, make sure you have the motor screwed on the right holes on the motor mount (12 o'clock and 6 o'clock position).

RE: Changing motor and ESC
The ezrun 60A/ .5 motor combos (5.5, 13.5) do not come with connectors for the motor and battery wires, you will have to solder the wires directly to the motor, and the battery wires to your choice of battery connector. The 35A/ribbed motor combos come with connectors for both the motor and battery wires.

Red, be sure to grab a couple of spare TA03 knuckle arms, or maybe upgrade to aluminum knuckles. With the aluminum steering set, hi-torque servo and beefier servo saver, they are now the weakest link. I've already broken a couple of those knuckles, they are very fragile [:D]

Redfisher is right, the TEU101BK does not have a built-in BEC. I measured the voltage coming off the red plug on my TEU, an it was the same as the battery voltage of my freshly charged pack, around 8.4 volts. Not good for your servo! [:D]

RE: Safe Brushless Motor to Run on TT-01E
Yeah you're better off buying a combo. For $100 you get an ESC, motor and a nice little program card. Not bad at all. Be sure you set the "punch" setting to "1" if you're going to use NiMh. If you're going to use your 3S packs, you should get a 13.5 instead. You will have overheating issues with 3S and 5.5. Be sure to run the esc fan off the receiver because it's only rated up to 7.2 volts.

RE: Safe Brushless Motor to Run on TT-01E
I don't think lipos are a waste on any car, especially one with a brushless setup. I suggest you upgrade to lipos first before going brushless. Anyway I have an ezrun 5.5 on my TT01. Geared at 19/61. No overheating issues. Motor temp is about 160 after a 10 minute run around the track. For $100, you can't go wrong [;)]

RE: []TEX[] & Lunchboxer's Spec Race Build Diary-Suzuki Swift M03
Went to the LHS today and picked up a set of A-parts. I only have one stick pack size lipo, so I figured, instead of buying another why not get a spare chassis and hack it up so I can use my existing lipos [;)] View of the hacked battery slot. you can see the ESC mounted on the L wheelbase extension Ran into a problem with one of the motor screws.
