RE: What do you think about JETLEGEND L39?
Thanks, I like it a LOT, even with this 2 easy flights. It flies easier then my PA F-15, and would be a very good demo model. Even now I`m thinking of maybe selling my F-15 and order a C&C Model L-39 with a 2011 color scheme (see attached picture) as own and Demo model. I really love that striping and even my old P120 will fit there that airframe is somewhat lighter (they say), later when I saved some money a upgrade to a P140RX [8D] But that`s maybe for this winter first another project after the vacation. Things to do for next flights: - repairing/installing the LH MLG and correcting the RH MLG so these will never can come loose again, - removing some lead from the nose, - again a complete check of the airframe and all hinges, screws etc. FLY!!!!!!!!!! Next flights gear up and some more envelop testing [:)] Grt, Berto.

RE: What do you think about JETLEGEND L39?
Oh yes, our JL L-39 has flown [:D] Finally, we still had a LH main gear break out on the first taxi run, all scres gone [X(] but after repairing it we did 2 flights. Both with gear out there gear down nipple broke during the taxi run. The L-39 with 120SX is well powered enad with this combo it`s a real scale flier. Flown it of a militay base but I`m not afraid to fly it from a 80 or 100 mtr grass strip with this set up. Had placed some 200 grams of lead extra in the nose but the next time I will remove some because it felt a little nose heavy in the turns. Als I had 2 clicks of nose up in the elevator to fly level. With only 2 clicks of left aileron it flies level. Weight with the complete cockpit is around 15,5kg empty. I will measure it some time again what the exact weight is. 1ste stage of flaps at a slow speeds, give just a very minor pitch op, full flaps a little more but not much so very neutral with the flaps. Speedbrake also, no pitch change during selection of the this. The doors stayed close durign flight, I`ve installen some what longer Fei Bao cilinders on the doors. With full power level flight and then vertical it climbed easely to +/- 150/200 mtrs, so power enough. Only did de landings with 1ste stage of flaps. Next time with working gears and full flaps and speed brake. I have to say a very easy plane to fly with very nice characteristcs. Next time a more powerfull flight with some rolls, loops and inverted flights. So this plane is ready to participate at Jets Over Pampa [8D] Grt, Berto.

RE: Setting up air brakes !
The Wheel brakes on my F-15 are operated by a switch OR the elevator. The switch I use for start up etc. so the plane will stand still of I start and test the engine. During flying and gear up the brakes can not be actived there I mixed them so that with gear up the wheel brake is disconnected. During landing with gear down the wheel brakes can be operated by giving full elevator down (brakes come on at +/- 80% elevator), release the elevator and the brakes are off. In emergency situations and when I have to go down I can flick the switch and have direct full braking capacity when the wheels hit the ground, not the best way, I luckely only needed that one time. This was also the set-up for my first jet the Formost, a Boomerang-like trainer. Grt, Berto.

RE: Printing water transfer decals at home
Here some pictures form my home made decals on my F-15 I do it this way, - print the decals, - spray the complete decal paper with clear fernish from a spray can (if for methanol models use methanol resistance paint), - cut out the decals, - place it in some warm water (I said warm not boiling [;)] ), - wet the surface where the decals has to come, - when the back of the decal just loosens I place the decal on the airframe, slide it from teh back paper on the model, - just wipe the decal dry from the middle to the sides, - and done (for a better finish you should spray it with clear fernish again but there my model is not painted glossy I didn`t do that). And it stays well on even with +250 km/hr flight [:D]

RE: What do you think about JETLEGEND L39?
I have the 2 delivered air tanks in it. The gear still works at 5 bar (72 psi) on the ground, but I think I need more in the air, guess about 8 bar (116psi). But 9-10 bar (130-145psi) also wouldn`t be a problem.

RE: What do you think about JETLEGEND L39?
Hye to all, thanks for the reply`s. I now a 160 is a great turbine for this bird but as I see the vid`s I think a 120 also performs well, even from our grass strip (have to sya it`s very short grass with a concrete like surface below). Also must of the flyers put`s in the biggest turbine that is possible tot get a 1 to 1 power / weigth ratio. But with gas planes this almost never happens [8|] Also in the real airplanes the power / weight ratio is much less then we use, So mine will be more scale ;-) I`ve also calculated the power to weight ratio for my F-15 and this L-39 and that is almost the same. Don`t forget that the P120 puts out almost 13,5kg instead of 12 kg. We will see how it reacts and fly [:D] @ E.N.T., yep, I have to be always in the envelop, but that counts for every plane. A 160 will save it, maybe, but stay within the envelop is always priority 1, vene with a 160. @ bluescoobydoo, I knew that everything must be in front as much as possible. Therefor I even modify the air intake to place the turbine even 2 to 3cm more to teh front. The reciever LiPo`s are placed in the nose in front of the retracted nose gear. Just as all other stuff. What helps by my L-39 is that the FEJ cockpit ands pilots have a total weight of 900 gram, this helps a lot. I`m even affraid maybe a little to much but I have to check that with all in place and the UAT filled. @ passagealanglaise, Ah, my P120 will almost do the same as your Kingtech 140. As long as I get the 13,5kg of thrust that`s stated in the manual [8D] Grt, Berto.

RE: What do you think about JETLEGEND L39?
That was my guess refering to the steep climb after take off. We will see how it will perform with the P120SX, otherwise we keep the turbine, will do good in my PA F-15 which is now powered by an old first generation P120 [8D] Grt, Berto.

Hye Alain, that`s really looking good, what kind of engine are you using? And thanks, you also Gary. There it is a demo model I hope I can fly a lot with it, I therefor hope it won`t be sold quick and I can fly with it this complete season. We will see what happens. Nut I`m looking forward to his first flight, hope somewhere end of februari / begin of march. I`ll keep you posted. Grt, Berto.

RE: What do you think about JETLEGEND L39?
Another thing done. UAT, pump and valves mounted. Now rerouting the wires (again). Things to be done: - mounting reciver LiPo box in front of the nose, - making a hole in the top By-Pass duct for the turbine wiring, - mounting the turbine with bolts and nuts instead of the temporary screws, - inspection of one the leaking main door cylinder, - install some wheel collars for reducing air flow on the gears and doors, - screwing the pilots to their seat and the cockpit floor, - balance for the correct CG, - .............................. pfffff, I think that was it [:D] almost at the ARF status [:)]

RE: What do you think about JETLEGEND L39?
Hye Brian, no no, no slow down, have enough to do on other things so this L-39 has to finish soon. Goal is to have it completely ready end of this year, picked up from the the shop the last remaining stuff, so now I almost have everything to make this bird complete. The F-15 is a lovely airplane, I wanted to sell it for some other jet but still haddend the balls for it. I`m affraid that when I sell it I will miss him and his looks, so I have to do it with a company jet besides it [:D] (till this one will be sold [:o] ). On the F-15 I also want to install wheel gear doors but that will be something for jan. 2012 [;)] Grt, Berto.

RE: What do you think about JETLEGEND L39?
That`s to bad there was no foamy with it [:o] [:)] I`m planning to use most of the decals from the kit but have to sort out if this will work with the planed shop name on the plane. Maybe add some home made decals like no step/no push etc. We will see how it will be sorted out. Gonna try to install the main gear door cilinders this evening and maybe making a plate for the servo controlled air switches and Jet Tronic geardoor sequencer. Then it`s almost time to install the engine en components. Grt, Berto.

RE: What do you think about JETLEGEND L39?
No, a customer is building a FEJ L-39 scale 1:5,5 but he didn`t liked the FEJ cockpit and pilots, wasn`t scale enough for him. So we took over his cockpit & pilots and made it fit in the JL L-39, a little scale difference but it looks better than a empty cockpit [:D] Grt, Berto.

RE: What do you think about JETLEGEND L39?
Hye Brian, I believe it`s a 15 or 20 kg/cm servo. The decals were loose in the box, I didn`t had to remove them. Tailormade have very nice decals for this bird but there this will be a demo plane for our shop we keep it "clean". Grt, Berto.

RE: What do you think about JETLEGEND L39?
Didn`t do much updates here but that doesn`t mean I`m not working on the L-39. I`m almost finished, well almost, I had it on the scale and the total weight without fuel will be +/- 14 kg (30-31 lbs) I hope. I only need about 200 grams of lead in the nose (because the complete cockpits weights 800 grams). See here some pictures of the plane.
