I'm sure it gets alot of attention from the pilots there. It's cool that you copied the full sized Pawnee that you have access to. [:D] Cheers!

RE: Hangar 9 40 Size Piper Pawnee!!!
I finally finished up the mods on my Pawnee and set off to the field this morning. After a long absence from the flight line, it felt good to have her back in the air. In between the scattered showers, I managed three flights before the temps and humidity took the fun out of things. I'd nearly forgotten how much I enjoy this plane. Cheers!

RE: Hangar 9 40 Size Piper Pawnee!!!
PP235, I for one would be interested in seeing the pics of you second Pawnee when you get it finished. [:D] I couldn't decide on a particular Pawnee to model, so I just 'winged it' so to speak. The tail # on mine has personal meaning, even though in reality the # belongs to a full scale Tiger Moth. It's cool that you have access to a full scale Pawnee! Cheers!

RE: Hangar 9 40 Size Piper Pawnee!!!
Sorry that I missed your question Positive Rate. I used aluminum tubing to hold the nav lights and cut the opposite end to mate with the wingtip. Then epoxied it into place. The strobe was simply mounted on top of the canopy. The lights that I used came from http://rc-lights.com/ and are really bright. The pic of the plane was taken in a shady spot on a bright and sunny day. I hope this helps. Cheers!

RE: Is the PHOENIX The best Sim?
I had RF v3.5 and enjoyed flying on that sim and some of it's different features. Hoever, I now fly Phoenix and I personally like it better than RF. The physics seem better to me and match my actual Raptors nearly spot on. Another plus with Phoenix are the free updates/upgrades. The new v.4 is really nice. I'd flown RC planes for about 4 years before getting into helis and had no local heli pilots to get me started. All of my flying skills came from what I've learned on Phoenix. Heli set-up all came from the web. It's possible to go it alone (so to speak), just do your research. Good luck. Cheers!

RE: Hangar 9 40 Size Piper Pawnee!!!
Thanks for the nice words guys. I still have a few things to finish up before it's ready to go, but I'm looking forward to getting in some more flights on this one. PP235, I've got a soft spot for the Pawnee also. I really like AG planes. flyallday, I saw the TBM offering a while back. Looks like it'll be a nice plane. EF, I peeled of everything that wasn't white. I think that it was pipierpawnee235 that did a nice tutorial on the mods a while back in this thread. It wasn't a huge job, but does require some work. Well worth it IMHO. Here's a few pics from my changes. Cheers!

What a great find! I flew mine with an OS91 Surpass and found it to be a nice combination. I sold mine a couple of years ago and have always regretted it. I'd jump at the chance to get another NIB Tiger Moth. Cheers!

RE: Hangar 9 40 Size Piper Pawnee!!!
It's really cool to see that folks are still having fun with their Pawnees. Some of the mods that are being done are great and innovative. I also spent some of the cold weather months working on my Pawnee. My mods are geared more toward appearance than function, since I'm happy with the way mine flys and performs. Obviously, I went to a more scale color choice, added some scale lighting, and 'scaled out' my pilot a little more. I also swapped in a TT black anodized spinner. I still need to finish things up a bit and add a landing light (controlled from my radio), and check my setup and CG to be sure that it's ready to go. Here's to another fun and successful flying season. Cheers! BH

RE: Larger Revolver
I maidened my Revolver this weekend also and admittedly, I was pretty rusty. My first time back on the sticks with a plane this year. The first flight was a little dicey until I got it trimmed out, but after a couple of flights I'm starting to enjoy it. Balanced at the recommended CG it's a tad nose heavy, as documented, and I'll be moving the CG back some. Landings are a bit hot (and bouncy) as some have stated, especially with the CG set per the manual. My Saito 125 seems to be well suited for this plane and even at a rich setting gave good performance on 20% heli fuel. I believe that after I get it dialed in a little better, it'll be a keeper. Good size, easy to transport and assemble, and a fun and solid flyer. Cheers!

Good to hear some reports on good maiden flights. I also set out to maiden mine this past weekend but the weather turned rough pretty quick as a front moved through. I did manage to get a few photos before the weather turned. I hope that this coming weekend is going to be more favorable for the maiden. Cheers!

New Titan SE Owner
Hi guys. I've been lurking in the heli forum for a while, though I've been a member here at RCU for quite some time, I thought that I'd join in and post over here. Here's my Titan SE and I've got to say that this is one great heli. I've been flying a T-Rex 450 for a while and the difference between the two is daylight and dark. LOL. I wish that I'd made the jump to a 50 sized machine alot sooner. Cheers! BH

RE: Larger Revolver
I thought that I'd post some photos of my Saito 125 after the install for those who might be interested. I'll have the cowling off at least one more time and will try to get some photos of that if anyone is curious. I could have simply routed the muffler outside the cowling with minimal hassel but I think that it looks 'cleaner' with the muffler routed inside. More cutting than I would have liked, but certainly not as bad as it could have been...LOL. The 90* adapter is from RC Specialties and is the same setup that I had used in a former Funtana 100X. Cheers! BH

RE: Larger Revolver
Mine had a few wrinkles in other areas but nothing really major. The rudder was unacceptable and just plain unfixable without recovering. It would have also been nice if the canopy hadn't been preinstalled. I could have tweeked things enough to eliminate the gap between it and the turtle deck. This is the first Great Planes ARF that I've bought in a number of years and I doubt that I'll be in any kind of hurry to pick up another any time soon. I'm just not as excited about it now as I was when the box arrived. I'm hoping that when it's finished, it'll be a fun plane to fly. Cheers!

RE: Larger Revolver
I've been working on mine on and off as time allows. Over-all it's a pretty nice plane, though I have had a couple of issues with mine. As with others in this thread, the canopy doesn't fit well at the rear and the covering was so bad on the left side of the rudder that I had to strip it and recover (see photo). Fortunately I had some extra monocoat on hand. For the cost of this plane I can't really complain alot. Hopefully I'll get some time out in the shop to finish things up. I'm hoping that next weekend will be the maiden if the weather cooperates. Merry Christmas. Cheers! BH

RE: Trailers Torsion bar suspension VS Leaf spring
I have owned a 6x10 with leaf springs. Mine pulled very well, but was bouncy when empty or lightly loaded. Now that I've been looking at cargo trailers again, the torsion suspensions are more appealing than springs. Load rating will make a big difference in how the trailer rides and lighter load rating is better for RC use. Another thing to consider is going with a V-nose. The extra space is nice and it 'should' cut the wind better. My former cargo trailer had the standard nose and was like dragging a parachute at highway speeds, thus cutting into fuel mileage considerably. Local hauling is a non-issue, but a trip of a hundred miles or so starts to add up. I hope this helps. Cheers! BH
