RE: Savage Flux HP : Shocks wont fully rebound?
You don't want your shocks to be fully extended all the time.....they should extend fully only when in the air. Same thing on your real car, are your shocks fully extended when sitting in the driveway? You could add more spacers, but your savage will handle like a turd.

RE: 3.8 Hard Compund Tires for Bashing
badlands are fantastic! They suffer a little on road, decent grip but accelerated wear. Off road I absolutely love them. On groomed grass you can almost cut lines down to the dirt with them. Think of them as super fast power rakes! On they are great, I feel they have a great amount of traction while still allowing you to kick it around if you want to. Can't recommend badlands enough.

TX setup is neat. I run a 3S lipo in my TX too. I'm tempted to do that balance mod too...but I only have to charger the dang lipo once every 4-6 months... Don't think it's worth it to me.

RE: Narrowing molded foams
Glueing foam back together might be tricky, CA glue might work, or shoe goo. I would stay away from hot glue since it isn't very flexible. You might not even need to glue them if they are a snug enough fit. Hard to say without actually seeing anything. I don't see why you can just trim the edges down. Just trim to fit anything you need. If they are way too large it shouldn't be a problem to trim up whatever you want.

used a cheap underpowered black and decker hand drill here. I did buy a counter sink bit though, didn't have a plain larger bit to counter sink with at the time. It was easy enough.

RE: Series Charging
ugh, those hobbyking adapters are a short waiting to happen. I guess it depends on if they wired them correctly or not, but still, I would not trust them unless you are VERY careful about matching up which lipo is which on the balance board. or if you just check them out to make sure they are wired right before using. and still be careful. If you have a 50W charger, don't bother with series charging, hardly worth it. (my opinion, guver has been right on all technical counts in the thread, I just disagree on this point :) If you are determined on doing it, do it the right way and build yourself a series adapter like the one from the link guver gave you. I'll attach a diagram of the exact one you want to build and all the supplies you need to build it with. [link=http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=9735]one set of these for the 2S balance leads[/link] [link=http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=9918]one set of these for the 4S balance lead[/link] High current connector of your choice. (probably Traxxas, since you are getting a summit). Some wire, 16awg or bigger will be fine for charging [link=http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__9681__Turnigy_Pure_Silicone_Wire_16AWG_1mtr_Red.html]red[/link] [link=http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__9680__Turnigy_Pure_Silicone_Wire_16AWG_1mtr_BLACK.html]black[/link] Some heat shrink (very cheap on hobbyking as well) Possibly some extension wire for the balance leads if you want, 20-22awg I would guess, also cheap on hobbyking. Solder it up as in the photo and you'll be golden!

RE: Ofna Jammin CRT.5 Electric Conversion - what do I need?
Can't comment on the Mini STe. I do know however, that on any kind of gravel with the stock wheels I rocks rocks stuck between the wheels and axle carrier all the time. It locks the wheel and I do a very tight circle. I have to give it a second of reverse to dislodge the rock, then I'm good to go for another 3-5 mins before another rock jams up the wheel. The thing is awesome on dirt, gravel has that little hiccup. you might be spending a little more than 40 to convert it. The motor mount alone is like 25 or something I think. Then the parts trees for the SCRT10 come with stuff you don't need for the crt.5. Make a comprehensive list of prices and see exactly what it comes to if price is a major concern. I bet the crt.5 will be cheaper, but not by much.

They are usually the 1st part I break :( [/quote] Totally agree, I went through 4 plastic knuckles on this thing in one day. Couldn't figure out what the heck was going on. Servo saver felt really nice, but the knuckles would bust on even small crashes that I would have thought couldn't hurt a fly. I've still got a couple plastic knuckles left (don't drive it much anymore), and if I go through these I'll be getting the STRC ones for sure.

I did it about the same as Syco, Just looked at the jammin SCT manual and got part number for stuff I wanted. Had to drill and counter sink holes for the battery tray in the chassis, but that's not too hard. My thread over on RCM: http://www.rc-monster.com/forum/showthread.php?t=29602 Currently has a medusa 3300Kv motor in it. Works very well and no over heat. Haven't geared down for 3S yet though, no motivation now a days really with no one around to run with.

RE: Smoking mamba monster ESC
Smoking between 2 wires and it still works? Or is smoked and doesn't work anymore? IF it still works, I might venture a guess that your water proofing conducting electricity between the 2 contacts. Might not be enough to fry your ESC (yet), but is enough to cause your water proofer to smoke. Just my guess though...

RE: Am I doing something wrong?
[quote]ORIGINAL: EXT2Rob Hmmm...just thinking....is it possible your ESC burned out because the stock fan can't do 3s and the fan failed, THEN the ESC got too hot? Jus' wonderin'.... [/quote] I don't think so. For one, the fan will probably be running off of the BEC, so it will have a constant ~5V (like the receiver/servo). Also, if your ESC depends on a fan to prevent over heating you're flirting with danger. Fan can help cool and keep ESCs/motors temps down a little, but depending on them is bad practice. Temps should be controlled with gearing. Fans go out all the time while running offroad. One little pebble sucked into the fan can get it stuck, and if you are depending on it for cooling, no goood.

RE: Tracks in Butte, MT, USA
Hey volvoartictech, I'm not sure what's been going on with the track in Butte. I graduated in 2011 and haven't been back since. I know that club sort of dissolved for awhile there (maybe it just goes into hibernation for winter?). I don't even have any of the club's phone numbers anymore. In fact, I think the only way I would be able to contact Mike (leader/former leader) would be via myspace, that he appears to have not been on in forever (like everyone else). http://www.myspace.com/nitronut1 I think there might be a track up and around the missoula area. You can also check in here: http://www.bigskyraceway.com/index.php?action=forum That is the Great Falls club's forum. Andy is the leader there, we had a decent track, but the land got sold around us and we had to demolish. I think he is still up to something. Billings and Bozeman both have tracks I think (I know bozeman does).

RE: Savage Flux lipo buldge - help
leaving at full charge is hard on lipos. Ideally you want them at 70-75% charge for storage, I usually stick them in the fridge if I won't be using them for a month or longer. The lipo with the dead cell is trash. The other lipo might be salvageable, but should probably be run lightly from now on. I'm 98% sure the radio switch did no cause this. The LVC stock is 3.0V/cell I believe, I run mine at 3.2V/cell, anything above 3.4V/cell is usually overkill. Never go below 3.0V/cell. If you want to run 6S instead of 4S that will be no problem. The auto lipo LVC on the MMM will know you have a 6S in there and adjust the cutoff accordingly (based on how many cells you have).

RE: Savage FLux 2350 problem
That's a very standard wear out part on the savage, upgrade to the HD (heavy duty) part and you won't have to worry about it for a long time. (Next gear to fail will be your pinion if you keep running a steel spur) http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXXSA9 <- for reference, I think TCS has it cheaper than tower usually.

RE: SAVAGE FLUX HP XL WHEEL / TIRE OPTIONS?
love trenchers and badlands. To save your pinion get a plastic spur. Regardless of my mesh I and my bro would fry pinions occasionally in standard fluxes and 4S. I switched to plastic pinion and both gears hold up fine (and much quiter) while he still went through a pinion before changing to plastic spur. Hardened pinions help a little, but don't cure it. As for shock shafts I believe I've seen with larger tires the flux wont bottom out on the skids, so the shocks take much more abuse (no personal experience here). I've also heard that RPM being more flexible is more prone to bent shafts than stock arms, but I'll take tweaked shafts to busted arms anyday.

Well, after breaking a blade outside I think I'll wait till the sim gets here before I try at it hard again. There are tons of youtube videos by various people and various methods. You do not want to cover the silver bars the heat sinks rest on with plasti-dip, you still need thermal transfer. Does the heat sink easily pull off? Usually they are stuck on pretty good with a thermal compound.

RE: mCP X Begginer problems.
after a little tinkering I've found that the main gear wasn't on the shaft all the way snug, this was leaving slop, and it was causing the vibration. Keeping that snug fixes the vibration problem, which was causing most the other problems (besides the tight gear mesh, which I can live with) Another thing that was killing me was that I DIDN'T realize that the servos didn't re-center on their own! hahaha, talk about a noob.... After knowing that (and playing around with motor killed) I've actually gotten a couple hovers in now! Very challenging, I have way more respect than ever for you heli guys! And yes, this thing is VERY tough, holy crap....I cringe and shudder at some of these crashes...

mCP X Begginer problems.
Hello all, I just received an mCP X V2 that I ordered, I can fly 4 ch coax helis very well, so I figured I would hop up to this one as it seemed pretty well received by many. But I just can't fly the thing at all.... I'm using the RTF remote as I can't invest in a better one until I actually know if I really like this kind of stuff (mainly a car guy here). First off, it seems the gear mesh on the main gear/motor is WAY too tight. I slowly bring the throttle up, hear the main rotor being stalled (tale rotor spins), continue bringing the throttle up and finally the main rotor breaks free. If this were a car I would loosen the gear mesh right away, but there is no option on this heli? Is it something that will "break in" on micro helis? I'm pretty sure that is a problem, but this could all be ignorance. Another thing I can get around is TERRIBLE head vibration. Sometimes it will vibrate wildly on throttle up, sometimes on throttle down. The whole heli vibrates violently seemingly centered around the head. Also, on normal mode (not idle up) I have to bring the throttle up to about 3/4 before it takes off, and then it shoots into the air and any throttle down flings it back down. Is this normal for a CP heli? I would have just called Horizon, but I got it in the evening on a Friday (today, so I guess I'm at your mercy until monday :( Thanks for any and all help!
