RE: Alcoholism
I want to burn my planes and quit this hobby, and pick up a sport that doesnt have a bunch of sissys in it. This is what we talk about? I am going to make a drink to forget about how much time I just wasted. And for you RJM1982, you can shut the hell up.

What would you do? (Leading edge)
I am working on a scratch project, with each half of the wing being 50". It is a 3D plane. The longest shaped leading edge I could find was 36". That is not enough to make it the length of each wing half. So I bought two for each half. Do you have any good ways of joining the two leading edges together somewere in the wing. Maybe cut them at a angle? Or put a dowel in the joint? And maybe put the joint at the wing tip half of the wing. What do you think?

RE: Tune pipes
So it sounds like I need to get as much built on this plane as possible so I can weigh it to see what size engine I will need. Then I will see what is out there that will work for that engine. What do you think?

Tune pipes
Would you use a tune pipe on a 3D plane? 94" span. I am trying to decide if I should. I took a pattern plane and enlarged it and changed a little. But I like the way the fuse is biult with a tune pipe inside it. But I dont want to build it like that if its the wrong thing to do. Any comments would be appriciated.

wing tubes
What do you use for your wing tube? I am building a 94" span aerobatic plane. So the wings need to be pretty well secured to the fuse. I was thinking about a 3/4" aluminum tube for the wings, and one in the fuse just smaller to fit inside. What do you guys think?

RE: the most amazing video ever!
These forums beat the hell out of the myspace stuff. Everyone here has a strong opinion. But stop kidding. Airplanes are meant to fly in the sky. Dont forget where they came from. I live in Washington. Boeing came from here, and that is were the roots are. You cannot bypass fuel driven aircraft with electric power. At least not in this age. The same goes for RC. So no matter how hard you try electric falls behind. Its not a contest. The mags sell electric because it sells. Electric makes it easy for someone to get into RC. Gas is intimadating. Most people are looking for the easy way. You know who you are. For the rest of us, lets keep on thinking.

RE: servos
Thank you all. I have figured out what the plan is off this info. Ive built giant before, but not with the kind of power Im going to need to control this plane, and like you guys, I want to do some arobaticts. Nobody at the hobby shops know what im talking about. So this is alot of help. Thanks.

RE: servos
How many do you think for a plane this size? And how the hell do you set it up? Or is there another setup for the rudder. And do you think I will need 2 High torque servos for the ailerons?

RE: the most amazing video ever!
What is this sport coming to. Now we fly RC planes INDOOR??? And they are made out of foam? I think I saw one of those planes for sale at Toys "R" Us. Come on! I could have more fun watching dragon flys play. Spend some money and buy some gas or nitro.

servos
I am scratch building a 96" span plane. I need to know what the deal is with the inline servos for the rudder. I am seeing this alot in pictures. Is it for more torque? Do you need that much power for these kind of planes. I was going to just put one standerd size servo in the fuse under the elevator to control the rudder. But I dont know if that is going to be enough. This is my first one of this kind, so I am just learning the new stuff.

I am not into or hip to any specific lengths or wingspans that are set by some organization, nor do I care. I have just blown up a pattern plane to 94 inches. I like them big. But thank you for the detailed info Grotto2.

RE: Tune pipes
Ive been going around some of my local hobby shops, and talking about tune pipes. They are all saying that tune pipes are only good at high rpms. And they are unstable in low to mid range. But they all said that they have not had any experience with them, just what they have heard from people. And it has been a long time since they have heard anything about tune pipes. My question is, are there better tune pipes out there now, and that can run your engine well in all rpms. I need to know if I should use a tune pipe or a standard muffler. The design of the fuse depends on it. Any info would help. Thanks.
