RE: SAPAC America jets?
Definately !.. they flew the pants off these things at FJ09 (biggest jet event in the world to my knowledge). Field long slow rolls all day long...

RE: SAPAC America jets?
I have an L-39. Very Impressed with the engineering that went into this jet. Very sturdy light construction, and an excellent fast flyer. Here's an excellent thread with tons of info on the L-39. I have no affiliation, just a very impressed customer. http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1011309

Yes it is. The L39 & T45 I saw fly at FJ09 were composite also. Very nice

RE: L 39 FIBERGLASS
I have a Sapac L-39. Haven't finished it yet, but seen it fly many times at this years Florida Jet show. It was holding it's own with all the turbines, & doing very nice field long slow rolls. Had to buy it !!!

Anyone working on, or seen one of these fly? Is it just me, or do Phantoms seem to always track like they're on rails? The F-16's I've seen fly always seems to look a bit skittish, but the Phantoms seem to be rock solid & fasssst.. like a bandit

RE: Tam F16 w P80/120
Thanks guys, I really appreciate all the info... Here's a quote from the original "TJ F16/P120" thread "If you have one laying around it will work fine but you have to modify the tanks a bit and you won't have enough thrust to go verticle on take off. You will also have to install an airspeed sensor to limit the speed to 180mph. If you need to buy a JetCentral turbines house of Bee, Falcon, Eagle and Rhino turbine, I recommend a P60, P70 or jump to the 120. There is the same amount of work to put the 120 in as a P80 and you have to buy an airspeed sensor for both." I'm trying to figure out what he meant by "modify the tanks a bit".. I take it you guys have done the install with no modification to the tanks? If it's not too much trouble, anyone have any pics? I may do the P80 just so I have the option of a P120 or P70 in the future.

RE: RC Turbine Question???
ORIGINAL: KC36330
ORIGINAL: drdoom I really think that the bearing issue is a thing of the past. Remember that the bearings are lubed by the fuel, less fuel less rpm, less lube and less airflow, possible less cooling................
just look at the GSU with one fired up and the lower RPM speak for themselves, it runs considerably cooler. less RPM + cooler temps = longer turbine life expectancy
I totally agree. A new P120se dialed back to 18lbs (nearly half its potential thrust) should last a LONNNNNNG TIME[:D][:D][:D]

RE: RC Turbine Question???
Yeah after thinking about it, I think I'll get a P120. I'll probably dial it back and install the speed sensor. That way when I get comfortable with flying it scale, I can utilize the full power on T/O & verticles. I'll take a slight size & weight penalty, & maybe will have to come in with a slightly higher angle of attack to compensate for more residual thrust, but I'll get a lot more use from my bearings etc..

Good idea. I have the Tam 1/8 F16. I never used a speed limiter though, Who makes them? How do they install on a scale jet?

RE: RC Turbine Question???
I agree, don't go too crazy with size & weight differences, & also consider residual thrust, but in theory I think the 120 or 160 dialed back to 18-20 lbs of thrust will last a lot longer than the 60-p70 full thrust.

RC Turbine Question???
Does it almost always make sense to buy a slightly overkill turbine, then dial back the thrust? I have a P-70 size plane that I think I'm going to shoe horn in a P-120. The reason why is: I know at the airlines it's always recommended to use a Flex setting when able to use only the thrust required for the current runway being used. By doing this it supposedly greatly extends the life of the engines. Does it work the same in models? A slightly bigger engine tuned down (I think) would be the same as Flexing an entire flight & should greatly extend the turbines life. What do you guys think?

Am I understanding this right? Can you now install a servo anyway you want, & it doesn't matter if the horns are centered, or if the servo's are facing each other? You can now program the center, direction & endpoints independently???

I have a box thats about 72x14x17, & UPS was about $840. USPS doesn't ship boxes over 60" long, but were a lot cheaper. So far seems like Igglobal was the cheapest at approx $320.

RE: Custom Cermark F-16 in Israeli markings - Build Thread (sorta)
Hey Isaac, do you have any pictures of the gear doors? I'm doing the same plane, & plan on adding doors, but dont plan on modding the gear mounts, so the tires will still be partially exposed. Lior, did you stick with the stock pipe? I was going to try a P120 & dial the thrust back, but as of now I plan on buying a P-70 Excellent thread.. Thanks guys

looks very interesting. I like the size, smaller diameter than a P80 & just a little bigger than a P70. That combined with the life time warranty seems like a winner![:D]

RE: 17TH BIG APPLE JET RALLY - JUNE 27 & 28 - OFFICIAL THREAD
Looking forward to it. It was awesome last year!!! For those of you that haven't flown at Floyd Bennet, I'm not sure of the exact measurements, but the runway is HUGE. I love Sal and Marks plans for this event, & where they are trying to take it in future years. I will make it both days for sure, even if it takes a sick call to work[:)] Hmmmm, What do you guys like to see at these events? I love the idea of being able to ship my jet & get fuel, & a tent on site!!! I know Sal was thinking of providing a secure place to store your plane overnight, so you can assemble it Sat morning & not have to disassemble it until Sun night. What else???

RE: Jetcat info
Thanks guys, I've been away from the jet scene for a while. I just picked up an early model Tamjet/Cermark F-16, & need a power plant. I've owned a few P120's over the years & always loved them. I dont have any experience with the 16's. Good point about residual thrust at idle.. Not sure how the 16 will handle it. Maybe the nose high landing attitude is like a big speed brake????

Anyone know, if a P120 is dialed back to the lbs of thrust of a P70 or P80 which will be more fuel efficient? Same goes for a P160. With such a slight difference in weight between them all, does it make more sense to get the 120, or 160 to power a P70 sized ship?

RE: Cermark F16
I plan to do the same with my P120. If the wieght difference is only 0.3lbs, that sounds less than a full UAT tank. I'm figuring dialing it back to about 17lbs, & changing the pipe. Or possibly buying a P70.

RE: Het 90mm F18 definately not scale
ORIGINAL: SJN THanks for the pics. But you are compareing the Hornet and Super hornet in the picture. [:)] They do not have the same length Hornet Length: 56 ft (17.1 m) Super hornet : Length: 60 ft 1¼ in (18.31 m) That does make a difference. But the wings are so out of scale.....but I bet it flys better [:D]
I'm aware of the "C" to "F" model comparison. I go to a lot of airshows here in the states, & run across the Hornets in the sky now & then. Ground to air, or air to air, it's a silouette I'm use to seeing. I'm looking for proper proportions, & there's only two ways I can think of getting it. 1. Make the wings smaller for a scale appearance. (best way) 2. Extend the nose so it fits in a Super Hornets profile. (not scale, but the silouette & proportions are correct)
