RE: Funtana 90 wing tube
I called Horizon and Hangar 9. They both could not help as the plane has been discontinued and they no longer carry parts for it. A google search will show the part number and take you to the webistes of hangar 9 and horizon but these are just outdated links. This is the reason for my request.

Funtana 90 wing tube
Lost the wingtube for my Funtana 90! If anyone has a wing tube they would like to sell please contact me! Also, does anyone know the measurement of the Funtana 90 wing tube? I do not have inside calipers but will buy them if necessary to determine the size! Please help. Thanks, Brendan

RE: Zenoah 20cc Gas Engine for Funtana 90
airborneSGT and tIANci, Thanks both of you for your insight. I've decided to put the Zenoah 20cc on the back burner. I figure based on your inputs and research of my own the engine would not perform well on the F90. I really want to get into gasser planes but always wanted to start with a DA50 and the AirWild Extra 260. I kinda was just looking for a gasser engine to gain some experience on that I could bolt on to an existing kit keeping expenses negligible. When the day comes I'll just have to take the plunge and do some studying/tinkering!

Yes, there is a huge thread somewhere in RCU about it. IMO, way to much engine for the F90. My Saito 125 blasts my F90 around the sky!
ORIGINAL: whaturi someone put a da 50 on a funtana 90???
XJET, Good point the Zenoah 20cc is almost double the weight of the Saito 125. I'm just trying to work within a modest budget and am eager to get a gasser plane! This may be the wrong engine choice.

Zenoah 20cc Gas Engine for Funtana 90
I just picked up the July issue of "Fly RC" magazine and saw an add for the Zenoah 20cc Electric Ignition Gas Engine. The add states that the small Gas engine is designed for .60, .90 or 1.20 airplanes. The add goes on to say that the engine is right at home on the Funtana 90. I presently have a Saito 125 in my F90 and am very pleased with the performance. I'm running a Menz 16x6 prop and using 20/20 fuel. The Zenoah 20cc gas engine is rated to also run a 16x 6 prop. I want to break into gassers and this seems to be a good engine for this. It will not require a new plane and the thus the costs of conversion will be kept low. I've heard of modelers bolting DA50s to thier F90s and I've always felt that this is extreme. I'm looking for opinions from all of you on the pros and cons of bolting this Zenoah 20cc engine on my Funtana? Thanks, Brendan _________________________________________________________________________________________--- Zenoah 20cc Electric Ignition Gas Engine Specifications: Key Features Electronic Ignition Small & Lightweight Easy Operation and Mounting Excellent Power Lower cost Fuel New Magnesium Case Fuel consumption is ½ that of a similar glow engine Overview Zenoah’s groundbreaking G20Ei isn’t just Zenoah’s first engine with electronic ignition, it’s the first gas engine from any manufacturer that can fit .60-size planes that, until now, were limited to glow or electric power choices. Its dimensions are especially well suited for round cowl models like Hangar 9’s popular Corsair 60 and P-47D 60 ARFs. It has plenty of power for many .90 to 1.20-size sport applications as well. Much of this incredible versatility can be attributed to its lightweight magnesium-aluminum alloy crankcase that gives it an impressive thrust to weight ratio compared to most gas engines. RE: New Hanger 9 Planes
Mike, I just read the Horizon add for the Zenoah 20cc Electric Ignition Gas Engine. The add says it would be a great engine for the Funtana 90. I have been flying my Funtana 90 with the Saito 125 and am very pleased with this combo. I have been eager to break into Gas engines though and this seems like a great chance to swap powerplants. My question is have you dealt with this engine and what is your opinion about this 20cc engine on the Funtana 90? It swings the same props as the 125 but I'd love to gain experience from this small gasser until my budget allows bigger kits and gas engines. Thanks for any feedback! Brendan Taff

RE: Rc Fuel Faq
Fuelman, Sorry if this topic has been beat to death...Horizon recomends 30% heli fuel for use in Saito engines. I just built a Funtana 90 and bolted on a 125. Do you recomend 30% heli fuel for my application? I do mostly 3D and the extra power would be great. Previous to this, I had a Funtana 40 with a Saito 82 and used 20/20. It worked fine but would like more power. Barring bolting a Saito 100 on it perhaps 30% could also improve this application...? I'm mostly concerned with the piston flying through the head or any other probs you guys might think I would experience. All opinions appreciated! Brendan Quote taken from Horizon website: "For performance models, our staff has been using 30% helicopter fuel in the larger four-strokes for years, and we’ve found many pilots around the country who do the same. The engines run great on this fuel with no overheating issues, plus the power gain is significant. In flight, this fuel runs great and is easy to tune, giving a good transition. On 30% heli fuel, the Saito 180 turns the APC 16x8 prop at 9800 rpms — that’s 400 rpms more than with the 15% fuel." 30% fuel in Satio 4 strokes
I've recieved opinions from a few experts to include Zak West at 3DBatix about using 30% powermaster in a just broke in Saito 125. Horizon Hobby actually recomends 30% heli fuel for Saitos. I'm just soliciting opinions from people who use 30% in 4 strokes, whether the gains are worth it, whether the engine is strained or not and other opinions you might have. My opinion is the high oil content is good. The extra Nitro will increase power. More strain will be placed on the engine. Heli fuel is about $6 more a gallon. Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

Mike, I'm unsure of the best 3D prop to order for my F90 with a Saito 125. I broke in the engine with a Zinger 16x5 and plan to maiden it with this prop. I was thinking a Zinger 16x6 for good all around performance. I am useing 20% nitro fuel. Could I get your opinion please? Thanks, Brendan Taff

Ran the fist few tanks of break-in gas thorugh my 125 today on the engine run stand. I used YS 20/20 fuel and a 16/5 prop. I was pleasently surprised and impressed with its explosive transistion. I am looking very forward to mounting this in my new Funtana 90!

What pump do you plan to get for your 125? I just purchased a 125 for my yet to be built F90. I'm considering a pump but don't know the best one to get. Any recomendations would be appreciated. B Taff
I just sold my YS 110, and picked up a Saito 125... I agree about the fuel tank @ cg, the YS definitely has it beat there... But, I think you are exaggerating the benefits of a tank on the cg... sure, its nice and all, but the slight amount of noticeable change in a normal setup isn't going to kill you, or ruin some good 3d flying. But i'll be picking up a pump for my 125 because I am also spoiled with my tank @ CG setup from the YS :)

RE: New Hanger 9 Planes
Thanks Mike! I look forward to getting the F90 in the air with the 125! If you have the time one more question please: In the Horizon F90 service bulletin Horizon recomends: "The large size of the “3D control surfaces requires powerful servos. The servos used must be 50 ounce inch torque or greater." Do you think Hitec 5945MG's for the flight controls is overkill? 5945 specs: Maximum Output Torque: 181 oz-in. Speed: 0.13 Sec/60 Degrees Thanks again, Brendan Taff P.S. It awesome to have you in in this forum answering questions!

RE: New Hanger 9 Planes
Mike, Just ordered the 125 to put into my F90. This was done against the advice of the Horizon saleslady and was warned it would void my F90s warranty. I told her that the present advertisements for the Showtime were saying the 125 was a great engine for it. The saleslady said the since the Showtime was more a of a pattern plane that this was okay, just not for the F90. I see no problem with placing the 125 in the F90. With proper throttle control...what could be the problem? The weights are almost identical and there is a (I believe) a .4hp increase of the 100. Thanks, Brendan Taff

I really appreciate the info. Can you please elaborate on moving the blind nuts? Is this to allow for the higher displacement of the engine thus spreading the engine mount further apart? RE: ParkZone Typhoon Video.
I've had my Typhoon for about a week now. I flown a several times with the LiPo batt. I've had problems with servos stripping out! Anybody else? First it was my rudder servo. It was stripped before the first flight. Horizon replaced it. Just flew it one time today and now my elevator servo is stripped. I'm starting to have second thoughts about buying this plane. I spent $349 for it with the celectra charger, LiPo batt and some spare props. Buyers remorse is creeping in as I wish I would have bought a higher quality kit.
