RE: Brotherhood of the Ring Forum is Back!!!
The bellcrank can be placed anywhere within the wing or fuselage, but the leadout position must be per plan.

This is a picture of my just-finished SIG Akromaster. It is a great kit, easy to build and a super flyer for someone coming back into the fold.

Which Control Line FOX is this? It's about the size of a .35 stunt but feels heftier. No markings on the bypass side except the word "FOX". slant plug. Thanks!

Phil, I'm between planes right now, but I'll have at least a couple ready by early fall, premier flying weather here in New England. Let's stay in touch. Nice Piper for your ID pic too, BTW!

RE: Brodak CLP-16 F82 Twin Mustang
I'm not familiar with the Pathfinder except for the Brodak ad, but it sure looks pretty. 35" for a wingspan is too much for even a black widow. I see that Brodak is having a sale on their .061 though. The price is about what you would pay for a BW on the auction market and it's a beam mount.

I'll be happy to take that paperweight off your hands. Honestly, you have one of the best or at least best known of the control line engines and can get a decent price on Ebay. But I *do* have a plane almost finished that could use it.... Justin

RE: Elevator Setting
The elevator should be in the neutral position when the handle is in neutral and the travel should be equal in both directions. If possible, you can move the elevator control horn forward to pull the elevator back down and the lines should be equal length.

RE: Hangar 9 pt 19 36
Send me the pieces and I'll rebuld it for my collection... Seriously, A good monoplane profile plane in the .15-.35 range will get you up and flying again. A biplane is too draggy and will give you grief until you get your "wings" back. A solid wing is more durable, but will get boring pretty quickly. Take a look at the Flite Streak series available from Brodak. They are quick to build and perform well as any classic should. Proper engine and rudder offset will help keep it from coming in on you if you fly in light breezes. The PT-19 you have has a reputation and not all of it perfect, so don't blame yourself. If you do rebuild, go back over the visible glue joints with some cyno-glue since there have been complaints about the strength. Good luck and share some pics...even the crash shots so we can do a post-mortem! Justin

There are no plans, just assembly drawings. Everything was notch-fit. You could practically build it without any direction at all.

I saw one on Ebay a couple of weeks ago. Fellow wanted $125!!!!!!!!!! I've also seen more reasonable around $40. I had at least half a dozen of these back in the '70's. My favorite plane until I moved up to the bigger stuff. Good Luck!

Looks pretty good. Might I suggest tip plates to help overcome the wingtip vortices inherent in a blunt tip design?

RE: Fishing line for 1/2A CL lines
Take a look at the dacron lines under a good magnifier and you'll see that they are "fuzzier" and have a flat cross section that will twist in the airflow creating turbulant drag.

Last year I started a blog that was well-intended but not tended well so it sorta' went to the back burner, Before my energies went to other things I managed to write a few thoughts about the classical U/C that is making a comeback. If you go to my blog: btnflyguy.wordpress.com/, read a bit about my dog and then scroll down to my discussioon of lines, knots and other thoughts of the genre. I might even start contributing again.

RE: SIG Spitfire's
I have the Berkely/Sig kit still in the box. 27-1/2" inch span for .09 to .35. It would probably be real nice with a .15. I have an Enya .10 that I'm going to use for it if I ever get around to it. It's a pretty plane with the bead and cove strip planking. Should be a real looker when done.

RE: CL model towing a glider?
Rock, I can't send yuo the article because it's an entire chapter in the book, but most of the idea can be figured out from this diagram (probably illegal). The plane can also be flown as a hand launched towline glider, hence the two launching hooks on the bottom and the 100 foot launch thread.

RE: CL model towing a glider?
The towed glider is just in trail, no pilot. I suppose you could try to do it with two pilots...sorta captured combat style. The method described in the book actually has the powered plane do a "pickup" by having the tow line for the glider held about 8' abover ground between two bamboo poles.
