RE: What IR System should I buy????
ORIGINAL: YHR Yes the Heng Long system is inferior to the DBC and Tamiya. The thing though is it is cheap, and for a couple of neighbors goofing off in the back yard, it might be all you ever need, and that is it's stength. Not everyone has the opportunity to be involved in a big club. The sad part is, for a couple of bucks more they could have done it up right.
YHR - you nailed it. I think I am about the only RC Tanker in the area and within 200kms of another tanker, and thats DARKITH up in Fredricton. I am getting a nice collection of HL and Tamiya tanks, so have been having battles with the boys in my back yard over a few Brews. One of the funniest things is IR Battle tank beer races. We race around a course, and each time your HL tank is knocked out, you have to drink a beer. If you win, then you have to drink a beer. Of course, when we use the Tamiya tanks, we try not to ram each other as much and there is less beer drinking during the race. Just proper IR Battle tank beer racing etiquette! BUNTS

The Sherman looks good to me - but the only thing I do when I get a new Tank is start it up - make sure everything works, then dismantle, rebuild and paint to my spec's anyway. Although I will be waiting for the IR version. BUNTS

RE: Two battle systems - One mighty tank
No big problems with the RCC unit. I am having difficulties with the sound system but not a big deal with me. If a basic PNP Tamiya compatible Battle system could be produced with no frills (no sound system and less expensive) - this would be ideal. Bunts

Two battle systems - One mighty tank
Put the RCC battle system into the Heng Long Jadgpanther, but also left the HL battle system in place. Put the RCC sensor in the forward Hatch and the RCC emitter onto the barrel using the Tamiya clip on. It actually works! I can fight my Tam Sherman with the RCC sensor in place. Then pull out the RCC Sensor unit, and put the the HL Sensor unit into the HL receiver and fight my stock HL Stug III. The Jadg responds as per what sensor is in place. Really thought I was going to fry something but so far everything is still intact. Tempted to see what happens if I left both units in place and fight the Tam Sherman and HL Stug at the same time, but really think that would be pushing it a bit! Bunts

RE: Two battle systems - One mighty tank
The HL Sensor is plugged into the HL receiver slot in the rear hatch which in turn is run to the RX18 slot as per the stock tank. The RCC Sensor is plugged into the RCC receiver slot which I mounted in the forward hatch which then runs into the RCC receiver cable. The HL sensor is not using the RCC system (or vice versa) but both are run from the same RX18.

RE: Tamiya King Tiger
Both the T2 and Sherman are great looking tanks as is, not need for weathing! The weathering crews do awesome jobs on their tanks but personally I like that fresh from the factory look also. If you really want to get authentic pour half a cup of hydralic fluid mixed with half cup of diesel into the lower tub - slosh it around and you have "aroma du tank" for the real authentic smell! I have a boxed T2 also waiting for the snow to fly but we have been having so much rain out East that I was thinking will make a start of it before too long. Also have a Sherman that I am trying to get to resemble a 8th Hussars tank, but still a work in progress! BUNTS

RE: Can't get main gun to fire on DX5e
When you do a DMD reset put the DX5 rate toggle switch to the low setting. When finished resetting you toggle back to Hi setting the Main gun and MG should work at the extreme throw's without fiddling with the digital trim. You may also find you have to toggle back to low setting for turret movement or gun elevation but not a big deal. Both my Tiger and Sherman work great this way although I am using the AR500 should work the same with the AR6100. BUNTS

There are several forums dealing with the Spectrum radios with some great information. The setup will be a bit different with the Digital trim tabs - so try to search the forum on that. The connections are: BAT=bind plug THR=Channel 1 from DMD AILE=Channel 2 from DMD ELE=Channel 3 from DMD RUD=Channel 4 from DMD BUNTS

DX5e in Tam Tiger
Finished up a Tiger 1 and put in the DX5e radio with AR500 receiver. Everything worked good except small problem of both motors going in reverse for 5 seconds when start button was first switched. (good thing I used to play goalie in the nets - did a good catch of the Tiger when this first happened on my work bench!) I reset the DMD and redid the set up but this time I have no cannon fire or machine guns and it still runs in reverse at first run-up! I did several resets making sure the electronic trims were centered but still problem exists. Any ideas? BUNTS
