RE: Art Hobby planes
I picked up a Hyper-DL a while back and love the quality and great flying. Stuffed it in the ground a year or so ago (pilot error) and broke the carbon tail boom. I have just now got around to replacing the boom, they are great to deal with and fast shipping. I plan on making another Art Hobby purchase in the near future, just not sure which to get. Liberator is right Andre is great to do business with and fast email response. Thermals

Aeajr, DLG flying is alot of fun... No launch equipment to drag out to the field and setup. Just your plane and transmitter. I am flying a Art Hobby Hyper DL and love it. Check it and others out at: www.arthobby.com Thermals Mark

Rcsoar, Very old school but still flys and lands like a champ. Its one of the few that was kitted with the built-up 111" wing. I still have a NIB Camano (with the glass canopy in my collection). Thermals

It would be nice if there was a site that would have pic's and imputs from other flyers. Here are a few pic's of the planes I am flying at this time. The first is a pic of the Camano landing. The second is of my Vee-Gilante The third is of my Wee-Gilante and the last is the Windsong and Camano.

Here are a couple of links some of you may like to look through. The first is a link to all of Bob's great news letters. I have a full set I recieved through the mail from Bob. Have them all in page protectors in a big binder. Great reading every now and then... (I was lucky enough to make it in a couple) http://www.rmsadenver.com/dodgsonnewsletters.htm The second is a Autobiography of Robert Dodgson http://www.modelaircraft.org/museum/bio/Dodgson.pdf Thermals Mark

RE: Dodson gliders....... Dodgson Gliders
I have been collecting Dodgson's kits for about 12 years and have been able to find a couple. I still enjoy flying Bob's kits today and can't wait to get back out to the field soon and put them in the air. The Windsong has flown to a altitude of 3740 ft. AGL with a onboard altimitter and camera. To Date I have NIB: Anthem (building) Lovesong Windsong Classic (pre-sheeted E214 wings) Very nice kit Windsong x2 Camano (with glass canopy and E-214 foam cores) K-Minnow Pixy Pivot Todi Maestro MKIII (after market, with SD-7037 foam cores, and all glass fuse) Flying: Windsong Camano (with built-up 111" wings) Vee-Gilante Wee-Gilante Brinesharks Yes thats a NIB Todi..... I am always looking for more if anyone has one they don't want.. Thermals Mark

Thanks for the replies!! The 10x may be a great radio, but for sailplanes I'm not sure its all that... I love the programing on the 8103!! Thermals Mark

10x sailplane programing?
A friend of mine has a JR 10x radio and is trying to get it programed for his Falcon 880. Does anyone know if it is possible to program it for a full house sailplane? If so is there anything posted on the net that helps set it up? Thanks Mark

RE: How High have you flown?
Good luck in your search for anyone that would have the rights to any of Bob's designs!! The only person I know that has any rights to his kits is Shawn Lenci. Years ago Bob gave all his molds, plans and the rights to him. Skybench does not produce a Windsong kit in his line up. But Ray Hayes does have some great kits for sale on his site. I would like to pickup one of his Legionair 140 kits when they are released. I do have a NIB Windsong, NIB Lovesong and I'm building an Anthem at this time. If you are able to find a set of wings or someone to cut some cores for you, I have a couple of new fuse shells with canopies laying around. Thermals Mark

RE: How High have you flown?
Kevin, The Windsong was produced and designed by Bob Dodgson of Dodgson Designs. Bob went out of business back in the late 90's. If you are looking to find a Windsong every now and then someone will throw one up on eBay and on RCSE. The Windsong and the Lovesong were of the same design both using the E-214 airfoil with the later Lovesong having a few changes. The Anthem was along the same platform design as the other 2 but used a SD-7037 airfoil, obechi sheeting, stronger spar design and a larger wingrod. The glasses were posted by Erbroens and I have no idea where they came from. I used my eyes... Thermals Mark

Off Subject! Any Military/ex-Military here?
Myself, I am about to retire form the Air Force after 24 years of service. I have been a crew chief my entire career, started out on KC-135's for the first 3 years at Wurtsmith AFB, Michigan. Then became a C-130 crew chief for the last 21 at Pope AFB, NC., Sembach AB, Germany and Little Rock AFB, Arkansas. In those last 24 years I have seen duty in 34 countries, some good and some not so good. But in all my travels I am glad to live in the good old USA. Thermals Mark P.S. The First pic was taken at Mildenhall England along time ago. The second was taken infront of my old tail that I retired to the Boneyard around 1995, name is still on it....

dave, I do remember Soarcraft having some tie to this kit. In the Buyers Guide it shows Soarcraft with the Diamant, Centurion II, Glasflugel 604 and the Libelle. Maybe Soarcraft purchased the rights to it later on after this printing. Mark

RE: Magnum 12 Glider - 1970's????
Jeff, The Magnum 12 was manufactued by a company called Pacer Industries in the mid. 70's. I have a old Radio Control Buyers Guide from that era with the following stats on the 12. 148", 1112 sq. in. area, 3 channels, all for $129.95 Good luck with it. Mark

RE: How High have you flown?
Keith, I have been flying at the sod farm since about 1994. There was alot more people flying out there back then, atleast flying true sailplanes! The pic's I posted were taken at the sod farm years ago, also the pic to the left are of the Windsong and Camano and taken at the farm. Joe Threlkeld and myself were out at the sod farm yesterday. I flew my Dodgson Camano off of a very strong highstart with my newly acquired JR 8103 Transmitter. Love that Trans... The 3740 ft flight was made north of Jacksonville up 107, north of the base near the old rodeo on the left when your heading north. I have had the C-130's fly near the field but they are always lower than my altitude, but if I see one coming my way I either head another direction or drop out of the sky as not to get in there way. RE: DLG Differences?
Erik, I'm flying a Hyper DL from Art Hobby. The plane build's fast and the cost is not bad either. You will need some micro radio gear for most of the DLG's out there. If I remember right the cost of the flight gear for the Hyper was about as much as the kit itself. Good Luck Mark www.arthobby.com
