RE: Morris 2008
HelloBean gyro, Do you have any info about the single rotor gyro shown on your 2008 Morris gyro flyer? It is electric powered. Sorry but I cannot be there. Bob

RE: Useless badges
Hello Jim, (and Dave,) I like that idea, Jim! It's one of those: "Why didn't we think of that before?" I'd suggest that the AMA ask that the clubs request the badges that they want. They do this with other items that are costly, such as the Rules Book. Ron O. Orchard Park

RE: better all-around seaplane than seamaster?
Nothing beats a "Seamaster" for water handling qualities. Bar none!

RE: Mini seamaster
For what it's worth, Ken Willard designed a ''Seamaster II'' for .25 engines in the mid 80's & published it a couple of years after his original ''Seamaster'' in M.A.N.

RE: Prerotator devices
Micky- About full scale pre-rotate and jump takeoff: Don't overlook the Umbaugh U-18. I worked on the drafting board and was involved until Type Certification around 1960. It was my only, and no doubt the last, full scale Autogyro ride! Ron

RE: de bolt custom livewire bipe
Hello Jim, The Custom Live Wire has been flying quite well with the O.S. .40FP for over 4 years and I would not change it! The plans call for a FOX .35 with alternates as TORP .29 & .35, Johnson .29 & .35, McCoy .35, Veco .29 & .35. Prop: 13"x 4. The model weight is given as 4 lbs.:Mine weighs 4 lbs, 5 ozs. and I use a 11x4 Zinger. It will fly most of the VR/CS Class I pattern event very well, in the right hands. This was built to be flown as "Vintage" model which it does well. If you see the need to build one with more power then it won't fly as old timer did, but will take on all kinds of new characteristics. Aerobatics will be possible! The plans show the outline of ailerons, but no detail of construction or servo location; Layman Slack has his with aileons and apparently more power than my O.S..40. It does very well with full aerobatic capibilities. It looks great in Transparent Red! Soooo - -- -I say: If one feels the need to fly a "Bipe" with a .60 , then one would be better off selecting a model designed for that engine. Perhaps a Pitts or Ultimate. These will perform the aerobatics much better than the Custom Live Wire ever will. Have fun with "Vintage" ! Ron Ogren

RE: How much of your dues should be spent on the Muncie flying site?
That "poll" must have written by a lawyer or politician ! It's a "loaded Question", "Like do you still kick your dog?" If one really wants to know how much of our dues should go to the museum and flying site, one should ask , "How much is needed and what amount is available?" In other words; Good management will work with a budget which considers all expenses, all income, and all necessary improvements.

RE: Oberdieck AMA Pres. Candidate responds to mailing
After reading all the stuff posted about, to, from and for Bill Oberdieck, I would say that Mr. Oberdieck should review some of his early lessons in PR (Public Relations). This forum about Mr. Oberdieck reminds me of my earlier days when I was young, single and on the road as a factory rep selling machine tools. After an exhausting day in McCormick Place (Chicago) for the annual tooling expo, over the usual Labor Day weekend, several of us went down to State Street for entertainment. Boy, did we get entertained! A very pretty girl sat down next to me at the bar and I started a conversation with her: Where ya from? Watcha do? type of stuff. She said that she was in "PR" work. That was my first trip to the big city and later I was informed just what she meant by "PR". I didn't buy her line of BS that evening and I don't buy Bill O's line now. They may a few things in common.
