TA04 Over heats really bad
I got one of these for my 7 year old son and ever since i switched over from the stock"silver can" motor to a c027 motor the dang thing gets really hot ,like it's over or under geared. allreadey smoked a monster stock moter with a 12t limit ecs after 4 runs. And only have 2 runs on the new c027 motor and noticed it was getting to hot. The pinion is a 25 t and the spur is a 86 i believe(both stock for the tao4 i got) so i need pointed in the right direction in gearing if any one can help. Thank you to all those that help.

RE: Need a good 19t motor
ORIGINAL: aer-wubby I just got myself a Komodo Dragon Pro. The thing is super fast, half the speed is about as fast as my old stinger. I can be driving half speed, then punch it to full speed and it would still burn out (=O). The Komodo Dragon Pro has an RPM of 25k, and I think 113nmm of torque (not exactly sure about the tourqe).
I hear that motor is the chameleon 2 pro upgrade and then some[X(]

Tamiya TA04 pin/spur gear combo?
Looking for any advise on a proper spur/pinion gear selection for a 27t motor. seems that the 83/25 combo is way over geared. just fried a esc (12t limit one) and a 3300 and a poss rev of the monster stock motor. So i just ordered a C027 Pro to install next time. And have to come up with a new ESC. This my 7 yr old R/C and he wants to so badly get it up and running asap. Any advice is much thankfull Chris.

Is this true?
------------------------------------------------------------- Just got a NIB rd-logics turbo11 pipe with all the hardware ( side mount exhaust) but it didnt come with a header to engine gasket. So i emailed the guy and asked if the pipe was suposed to come with one and he replied back and said " no those dont use those anymore" How is that going to seal metal to metal with no gasket?

Or can i trim the whole body then paint? The body does have the paint and peel protective film on the body so thats why i askek the last Q. Thank you for any advice. C3

RE: Tamiya Ta-04 chassis Q
Yes i know that the silver can will be slow but he is gonna be 7 soon and has some r/c ex ( ie nikko/ new bright grade) just going to start him of with the stocker- noob steps then go 27t ,then 19t .. then hopefully its game on with brushless or 9t motors[X(] BTW it is a TA04-S chassis .. kind of new to the so many different tamiya chassis they have now. I grew up with old school tamiya . Fox , hornet , grasshoper.

What is anyone's take on that motor compared to other 27 turn's? Getting my soon to be 7 yr old son a rc , and want to slow him down to start with a 27 turn rather than a hot 19t or lower .. Kinda narowed it down between a Co27 or a p2k pro ....
