The PTE ignition does not like a 5cell ( full charged 6.6 + ) .. anything over 6 volt and will burn out, a 4cell ( fully charged 5.6 + ) should be used ...... as I was told

RE: Has anyone tried the new PTE36R ?
Hi there, the ignition will fry if if used with above 6 volts as I was told. The one went out on me it would not idle and back fire while in higher RPM's. If you use the one from the DLE you have to re-time it.
ORIGINAL: mikes68charger It odd as it ran great with the big heavy prop. But with a standard prop all hell broke lose! I was thinking of the screw exstractors but the allummun is so soft and the bolts so small. I think I would mess it up more. What volts should I be giving it? Im useing a life 6.6 pack
RE: Has anyone tried the new PTE36R ?
Ok, I had problems with my engine and send it back to the dealer. Got it back and it started running rough again after 12oz of fuel . The dealer send me a new engine and I just ran it 2 tanks (20oz) through it. These 2 engines are like day and night with the new one idle at 1500 and wide open at 7600 on a 19x8, 3/5 flips to start. So far so good time will tell.

RE: Has anyone tried the new PTE36R ?
3136, I replaced the reed valve and cage... it still did not run good .....fare from great....hard hard to get started, Idle up/down..... so it went back to the dealer for repair. You would not believe how many people contacted me with the same problems from this engine and problems with several dealers, just have to wait how all of this will play out.

Hi, what prop are you using ? Plastic, wood ect..... Make ?
ORIGINAL: WLM189 I have recently purchased a PTE 36R, love the engine. I have about a tank of fuel through it and is running an 18x8 prop. Has anyone have problems with the engine idling no lower than 2000 rpms and top rpms of 10,000?
Hi, I got the parts and installed them but did not have time to run it.
ORIGINAL: prophecypilot Did you ever get your engine straightened out? Mine had similar problems to yours, I had to do some seating on the insulator and reed cages also, but still didn't do right. I finally swapped the ignition and hall sensor from a DLE 30 and it runs great, put the PTE ign back on it runs bad again.
Ok, I had some time...reset all carb settings....same result. Removed engine, checked carb seemed ok. While checked the reed valves found both valves had small pieces missing around the lower corner and two sides would not close to the reed valve cage. There is also a crack in the reed valve cage.

RE: Has anyone tried the new PTE36R ?
Ok, I ran the PTR36 today for 2 fuel tanks (10 oz ) 5 on (2500rpm) and 10/15 cooldown.... was on the 3rd tank when it started to run real rough. and died..... changed battery same hard to start ...its blowing alot alot black stuff all over the test plane, changed plug, checked timming all ok, changed ignition box (DLE30) still the same thing, was using fresh mixed fuel 1:32 Stihl Ultra. Hard to start realy hard at 30/40% throttle, runs at 2500 rpm goes to 3500 won't run above or below. Carb stting where not changed exept on the beginning 1/4 turn rich on both...turned them back no change. Had to quit my arm hurts to bad from flipping ............................ Any thoughts ?

RE: Has anyone tried the new PTE36R ?
These RPM numbers are from the DLE30 tread. When looking at these numbers from the DLE30 and the ones from the PTE36R they are allmost the same. I do not understand where people get that the PTE36r is so much stronger than the DLE30. My DLE30 and PTR36r are very close in RPM numbers I got the PTE36r for the rear exhaust and 3oz weight savings over the DLE30 with wrap around Muffler. It starts good and runs good, so far I'm happy just expected more ummph....... DLE30 numbers..................
