RE: cant seem to set my V-tail at all
I have a couple of these radios and they work great for the price. I would say it sounds like you need to reverse channel 1 as it seems like when giving a turn command, one aileron needs to go up and 1 down, but if reversed then what you describe happens. Just reverse channel 1 and test it, if it works but actually is reversed now(left input=right on plane), then change linkage at servo.

RE: Radian - a new e-glider from Parkzone
Mine has had the front repaired so often, and using 1800 battery, I pretty much had to add weight[:D]. I cut a slit in top of rudder and slipped in quarter smeared with gorilla glue. Then taped various coins to the rudder untill I liked the way it flew. Word of warning though! With anything taped to the rudder, mine would flutter like crazy in anything other than level flight. Even motoring up it would flutter. Vary scary when it looks like it's gonna flop itself to pieces[X(]. So, if you add weight, keep it off the rudder as it induces monster flutter. By the way, ended up using 3 quarters for balance, and haven't measured cog but I do know it's alot farther back than specified in manual. So, you can go a long ways back before it gets weird, good luck all!

RE: Do you ever attract a large crowd when flying at the park?!
Good thing I got a manual with my kid saying whats right and whats wrong. Those lousy guys that dare say it might be your right to breed and have offspring! Sputter gasp wha!!! Don't people realize that a liscence to breed is mandatory!? How dare you you disagree with my ultimate pure view is whats right when it comes to your kids!!! WOW! I just PM'D a guy saying I would apologize on here if I offended him for insulting him or his children or his parenting skills. I publicly take that private message back with no missgivings or misunderstandings aside. Wheelnut, you have the insulted the Canadian and American dream that all are entitled to our Human rights by saying that some people don't know how to raise kids and by making it "hard on us" their rights should account for less than ours. WTF!!! Good thing we dont live in the same "neighborhood" I guess[:o WOW! Glad my kid came with a document saying it his "right" to decide how other children should/will be raised, regardless of his endangering the general and more numbered populace than his mere 3% rc flier stewardship of the general public. Good thing folks can't decide without our "direction" weather or not to procreate. Glad we can decide who has kids and who's we "delete" because, God knows what would happen if people were allowed to decide if they were smart enough to have kids or not! Without our explicit consent no less!!! How dare humans deny our right to decide their fate, haow dare they!!![:@][>:][:'(][8|][:D]

RE: Do you ever attract a large crowd when flying at the park?!
Nice! Heh he heh! Yep, the community raises the child where I'm at as well. But dont forget that as rc pilots, we are very rare and most folks, espescially at parks, don't realize that our electric toys can and do inflict serious injury. If Billy jo Bob has never seen an rc plane only 40 inches across at the wings, with "only electric power", then he will most likely say to his kids, "Yeah, go try and ketch it, I got's the video a'rollin!" Well, in court guess who just got it in the kiester? Heh heh, yup, not Billy jo Bob. Polotics aside, we are all responsible for what happens with our hobby. Choose and decide what you think is best, maybe a new flying site? Maybe. Maybe just using common sense will avoid problems like this to begin with and we can all enjoy our hobby more safely because of it!

RE: Do you ever attract a large crowd when flying at the park?!
Yep, it's hard to actually fly when you have little kids on the field to worry about, and they always show up at the worst possible time[:)]! Regardless of what wheelnut says about parenting and trusting kids, are YOU gonna entrust your home and livelyhood and every cent you ever make over the idea that "I am a good parent, so my kid is not insane like every other kid under 17?" This is what we guard ourselves against everyday, lawsuits from folks that say it's your fault for cutting my kid up with a toy! It doesn't matter that you asked them to stay back, it doesn't matter that you asked their parents to keep them back, it matters that it's a public area and as a direct result of flying your "toy" some kid got a scar on his finger and guess who is the responsible adult in this situation? Yup, so be extremely carefull around kids, (your's or others) because regardless of your parenting skills, if you hit a child and chop him up, no matter how mildly the cut, or if the kid was dumb as a post with parents watching as you yell at them to get back, it IS YOUR ASS for exposing them to "danger" in the first place. Remember, just because your 10 yr old might have some sense and training, it's no excuse for hitting the neighbors 3yr old that is running loose in an open park field! Watch your own actions, so the cops and elected officials don't have to[:o].

RE: Parkzone Habu
Yeah, I agree with above. By now they've got the idea of how many have been burned with crazy claims from other vendors about impressive speeds, true scale looks, so on and so forth for prices over 400smackaroos. So, instead of offering another "f-blah blah" that includes 2 bucks worth of foam and 27 dollars of servos, they can offer something that actually works without spending $ on upgrades to get it to fly at all. I hope they offer more like this as mentioned aboved, A4, A10, mig, so on... I can only guess that quality will be far and above current offerings. If in doubt, just get the airframe and go from there! I have flown a few of the parkzone birds, I own the corsair and radian, and without a dout they have lived up to the hype and even surpassed it with regards to performance and amount of time flying instead of "fixing". Don't let us down parkzone! By the way. ever hear of better customer service than that of horizon hobby? Heh heh, just sayin...[:D]

RE: Parkzone Habu
If it is the same quality as the other parkzone planes, it'll be SWEET! The one thing I notice about the newer pz planes, they fly just like the videos out of the box with the included gear! I have the pz corsair, after watching vids and seeing reviews, I was still a skeptic. After first flight I was convinced though, you actually get what you paid for! Not sure on this one, but corsair came with digital servos for rudder and elevator, so...maybe?[:D].Christmas comming up soon as well, please be out, please be out...Hope some reviews before to long on this one. OOPS! Just read on pz site, digital metal geared servos for rudder, ele, and nose steering. Regular for ailerons. Looks like a great deal compared to other pnp/rtf edf's out there that cost a LOT more with much worse servos and terrible power systems included. Who's gonna be first[:)]?

RE: Do you ever attract a large crowd when flying at the park?!
Yeah, always have to be extra cautious around kids. They just don't get it that your "toy" can make mince meat out of little fingers, or worse. They mean well, and just can't help but be excited enough to do really dumb things[:)]. Was flying once at my usual park, and some little kids 4-7yrs old started to chase and try to catch my laser 3d while I brought it in for landing. After repeatedly asking them to stay back for just a second, asking their parents to keep them back for 1 minute, I had to ditch it in tall weeds 100yards away! I was so angry at the time, but now my kid is 4, so I understand much better that they just can't be controlled or trusted to risk flying near them without the "airmarshall" (wife) to run interference, heh heh. Adults are fine, asking questions, some get genuinely interested, most think it's just cool to watch. As long as it's safe, then it's fun!

RE: Parkflyer Trainer Recommendations?
Lots of good info! My brother has the flyzone cessna 182 select scale pnp version. Awsome trainer, his first powered plane other than the radian, and it's still in one piece. The front gear is easy to smash up, but otherwise very tough. Another great option would be a parkzone radian! It's a powered 2meter sailplane that easily fits in the back of my tiny chevy aveo. with the included 1300mah 3cell lipo and decent weather you can fly as long as your neck holds out. I've had mine up for over an hour with a 30 second motor run! It's made of tough z-foam so repairs are easy and fast. Plus, with motor off and level flight, it cruises so slowly it can be hard to believe there is no kite string attached to it[:D]. It is a great option for new guys, plus it thermals like crazy and teaches you to read the air conditions as well as to fly.

RE: Glider coverings
If you have sealed the covering and it is a pretty much tight job, another type of covering probably wont help that much. But, on the other hand, if after sealing and or painting, it is heavier than it should be, then a different covering might lighten it up enough to "float" a bit better. I've had lots of foam ships that seemed to be parachutes with little forward movement untill covered with iron on film, and then they were fantastic. Also noticed the same thing by just painting the foam as well. But, what I noticed more than anything, was how after painting sometimes the weight really added up killing the light floating characteristics. Not treal familiar with the all the coverings out now, but if you can find some super light stuff that doesn't need painting or sealing, it may be worth the effort. Plus, while it's stripped, you can sand all surfaces a bit more, cut lightening holes, etc....So, it may be worth the hassle. But see if someone else here has the same model, it may be just a design or setup issue and no amount of work will make it better. So, hang in there for awhile and see what others advise. Best of luck on it though!

RE: Towing with a four star 60
Yeah, the tow line will be under the tail of the 4*60, and when the glider lifts up, it will nose the tow plane down. But it should work fine if you can put towline where indicated above. Awesome plane though, should be able to pull 2m sailplane no problem.

RE: parkzone BF 109 touchdown issues
Try to keep the speed up higher than you know you need, and fly it right down to touch down. If you know you can fly at 1/4 throttle level and slow, then on down wind leg reduce throttle to just above that setting. Then, on final approach, set throttle at 1 or 2 clicks above that, and fly it onto the the road. After touchdown, if you're not lined up good, you have plenty of speed for instant takeoff if you need to go around again. If, after touchdown, things are looking ok, chop the throttle and let the tail settle while using rudder to maintain rollout line without using elevator once on the road/ground. Sounds easy heh heh, and with practise it kinda is, but that's half the fun, making a nice scale landing the pilot could walk away from. If you try to land at a slower speed like with tricycle gear you will most likely bounce or flip over, so keep the speed up more than you need for level flight and the aerodynamic forces will prevent the bouncing or flipping. Remember to fly it to the ground, not dive. With practise, it'll be a thing of beauty!

RE: Parkzone NEW BRUSHLESS (YES!!!) P-51 Mustang RTF and BNF
Man I love visiting this thread, gotta love a mustang! I don't have one yet due to budget constraints, but still absolutely love keeping up on it! A newly painted pilot for Dai Phan is definately needed, can't have an historically accurate plane without the pilot! Saw a show on the military channel not long ago, and what these pilots did was truly amazing. If your not aware of their accomplishments and what they dealt with, you are missing out on some amazing history of the U.S.A. and WWll. Anyway...any thoughts on what paint to use on the z-foam that won't bubble the cells up?

RE: EPP Profilm wrinkle question.
Never tried epp foam, but, when covering other foam it's either really tight or wrinkly. Might need spars or stiffeners in the wing if it's flexible type of foam or wings can flex a little to much causing wrinkles on one side or the other. Have to be carefull of temp as well. As I say, never used epp foam, but on other foams, it can suddenly melt without warning and those melted spots will show up as wrinkles in the covering. Good luck with your project though, sorry I can't be of more help for you.

RE: Parkzone Radian?
Yeah, same for me what Tom said! I thought it was flimsy and kinda cheap feeling, but was mistaken. It is actually very tough when it comes to sudden unexpected "landings". If mine were made of wood, it would be kindling by now[:D]. If/when you do have a bad crash and something breaks, it is so easy to repair, that all you need is some ca/superglue and maybe some tape untill glue dries. With wood, you have to strip off covering, replace what you need to(hoping it's straight), recover...a real pain in the you know what. I've seen the radian pile in from a nosedive from about a thousand feet and fly again in about 2hrs! It really is a LOT stronger than it looks and feels.

RE: Parkzone front yard planes
Haw! Like them all very much, but, by the time I got servos esc motor and rx installed were talking a 150+$ for a frontyard foamy. But, they are very close to what I want. I like wheelnuts bashed micro, but lately I'm very lazy when it comes to building, heh heh. A rx ready jenny or moth for just a bit more would be awesome though, say around 90 clams for foamy with installed servos and motor and esc. Wishfull thinking yeah, but would be sweet[:D]. Although a jenny with a cheap power setup may be in my future for frontyard winter flying. When it's -10 to -30 out, who wants to go to the field for a quick flight when you can step out the front door[:)].

RE: Parkzone Radian?
The radian is awesome, but has minor drawbacks like all planes. You can just buy the wing set and fuse and use the gear from your other glider. The drawbacks to this sailplane are the firewall is easily cracked and the props break easily. Also check the pushrods where they are attached on the rear of fuse, they pull loose easily, but a wrap of tape fixes this. The good side of the plane though, it flies awesome! With stock setup it gets up to altitude pretty quickly. Usually a 30 second motor run is plenty to get to thermal hunting altitude. Not a speed demon when looking for lift, but it moves along ok with some down trim. Best part is how fantastic it thermals though. Rarely do I have to stop flying due to a dead battery[:)]. Lots of people learned to thermal with this plane, including me, and it makes learning to read the air and find thermals pretty fast and easy. Hardest part some days is getting it back on the ground, as it wants to float a looong time[:)]. I love mine, but had doubts when I first got it, thought it felt weak and flimsy and cheap. After first flight, all doubts were gone, it flies great. Just broke the 1 hour flight mark with mine. 30 second motor run and thermalled it for 1hr8mins and 38secs, although the usual thermalling time after a motor run is 10-30minutes before having to motor up again. Good luck with whatever you decide!

RE: Parkzone front yard planes
Can't go wrong with the cub, great flyer from what I've heard. I wish there were more frontyard planes out that actually flew slow enough to use in my yard, or roadway out front. I used to fly my buddies gws pico moth out front, awesome plane for the money, and flew slow enough to be controllable in tight spaces. Hint hint horizon[:D]. If parkzone made some similar sized/weight ww1 models I think they would sell well if they kept the quality high like the newer birds. The ww1 biplanes lend themselves well to slow stable flight, and I believe PZ/horizon could make some great advancements in the market with their high quality standards and attention to scale looks and details, hint hint[:D]. With todays power systems I think an airforce of some scale looking barnstormers weighing around 6 ozs with a 35-40 inch span would be awesome(hint hint again, heh heh).

RE: Glider advice
I just the allerc site and using their data sheet it looks like the combo would be ok on 3cells. Depends on your esc rating, but at 10.39 volts using a 10x6 prop, it was drawing 24.2 amps. So you should be fine if you are using a 30 amp esc and your batteries can handle the load. You could go up to a 11x6 prop safely and it should really pull you up pretty fast. As to the performance of the glider, not sure if that is how it is supposed fly or not. I have the radian and it seems very very slow moving in calm air, but, if I give some down trim it will move along pretty good. Try a 3 cell battery, and when up to altitude, get it trimmed properly, and just let it glide for a long time. If your balance is to nose heavy it will be hard to trim for level flight as it will want to porpoise up and down. You should be able to get it flying pretty good by checking and setting balance, trims, and just learning how to make it go where you want it. Don't give up yet on it though, just take some time with it and learn to thermal it and then get a better ship. Good luck!

The 1 hour club!
Woohoo! Flying radian yesterday and made it to just over 53 minutes, but couldn't quite make it that few more minutes. Went back today thinking it was to late in the day to catch the longer lasting/still forming thermals, was I ever wrong, heh heh.Standard 30 second motor run, cruised for about 1 minute and the right wing popped straight up, almost flipping it over! Hard rudder and a tough of elevator and was on my way up like a rocket! Specked out in record time, and just cruised back and forth, losing sight of it now and then. 40some minute mark, when I usually hit the following sink hole, it started the pancake manuver. Usually, I can't out of the sink fast enough, but today put the nose down harder than usual and cruised back towards myself. By the time I got over the launch area I was already down to around 100ft and thought, "Bravo, another good effort!" when suddenly the tail popped and it started climbing again, yay. Three circles and I was specked out again, and just kept cruising. Made it to 1hr and a few seconds before my neck started to cramp and decided to land. Hit the timer on touchdown at 1hr, 8minutes, and 38 seconds, woohoo!!! Who else is in the hour+ club here using thermals and not slope?

RE: Parkzone t28 problem
Shouldn't the stock spektrum brand rx only bind to a JR or spektrum brand tx, and not a futaba? As a turbine or giant scale modeller, you should know this already though. On the other hand, the spektrum gear included with pz models is very hit or miss when it comes to reliability and quality. Seen a couple lost planes due to them loosing signal or locking out.

RE: Which Parkzone Flyer Do You Prefer
But, unlike the parkzone birds, you already upgraded the radio system, so now you have to dispose of that for a small fee[:D]. Then the esc crapped out on the first run-up, so you had to change that out. The battery pack included was what? A 650mah 8 cell nimh? And it wouldn't take full capacity either. Luckily, parkzone puts in pretty decent gear from the get go, not the very best, but at least pretty good that will fly the plane very well from the get go. The texan hasn't even flown yet, the gear has been changed out because it couldn't make it off the bench test, yet you prefer that one, hmmm...The texan looks very nice indeed though, but the poll was about parkzone birds. But maybe the texan will fly circles around the pz birds, who knows yet? Anywho, my vote is for the corsair, flies fantastic stock, and looks great in the air doing scale flights. Toss up though between any of the bl models they have, all are pretty darn good planes.

Not sure on variometers, but winged shadow has a good altimeter that runs on 2 watch batteries(included)that is about the size of a postage stamp and weighs just just a few grams. It works very well and is pretty accurate and simple to use. Best part, it's only about 45us$! Hope this helps a bit.

RE: Electrifying 2 mtr Sig Riser
If you don't want to spend a lot, but still good power, I would use a supertigre st.10 motor and 30amp esc with around a 1300mah 3s lipo. The lipo I have little or no info on other than the parkzone or eflight ones. Decent batteries, but there are cheaper ones out I know. I put the st.10 in my parkzone corsair and it is a bit stronger than the stock motor used in both it and the radian, but shorter and lighter. Depending on your sailplanes all up weight, you should be able to go vertical to thermal altitude in 20 seconds or so using an 11x6 folding prop. Not sure how much the esc costs, but the bl motor is around 25 bucks, battery anywhere from 20-45 bucks depending on what you get, and folding prop with hub and adapter is under 25 bucks. Should fly great with that setup, good luck!
