RE: Slick wants to snap to the right with quick elevator input
Something must be up with either the incidence or the elevator set up cause I have a Slick with a DLE 30 and have flown a friends and niether of ours snaps out in any way. I can wall it without issue. I also use One elevator servo and one battery to power everything for a light set up (10.5 pounds). SO something is up....

RE: Single LiFe Battery to Run the Ingition and Plane
ORIGINAL: BarracudaHockey 8 tracks, 27mhz systems, and ignition noise go together like a horse and a cart. I've been running a number of 50 and 85cc planes with a single A123 from WrongWay with multiple leads as described above to the receiver and ignition for hundreds of flights with no issues flying JR/Spektrum DSM2 and DSMX
Glad i am not the only one ;)

RE: Single LiFe Battery to Run the Ingition and Plane
I have over 50 flights on my 3DHS 71" Slick with a Single, 2300mah A123 set up to power everything. Quite honestly I wouldn't do it any other way on this size plane. Rich from Wrong Way RC supplied all the parts (the guy is awesome btw). The battery has 3 leads...One with a deans for the smart switch, one for the iginition and a seperate charge lead. The smart switch has two power out leads which both go into the Rx (I use Spektrum stuff). The ignition goes to an optical kill switch (which goes into the gear slot on the Rx) and than into a simple in line diode to bring the ignition voltage down to around 5 volts. Very light weight and powerful set up that can be fully charged in about 7 Minutes :) No RFI/EFI or any other issues have been experienced and it is a very simple set up that works. :)

RE: Extremeflight Edge 540 EXP 60
If you are looking to save some cost, just use HS225MG's instead of the HS5245's.......they are almost half the cost and similar specs...just analog. Good servo though.

RE: Gas engine igntion on receiver battery?
Amazing how much mis-information there is out there, lol. :) I personally won't do it any other way. Like Barracuda, I use a single 2300mah A123 that goes into a super switch on one lead (the super switch has two power leads that both go into the reciver if you wish) and the ignition for the other. A third lead is a charge lead. On the ignition side I use an optical kill switch and a simple volatage reducer. All products can be had from WrongwayRC...Rich is a great guy too. I currently have this set up on a 71" SLick with 40 plus flights and it works flawlessly. The beauty of the A123 is you fly it a few times, hook the charger up to it and its done in about 7 minutes. No range issues, no interference issues, fly all day. (I use Spektrum 2.4).

RE: 1100 MaH A123 Battery for DLE55 Ignition
The A123 would work great on the ignition but it will need a simple in line voltage reducer. You can get one from Rich at WrongwayRC. As far as flight times, it is not a big deal either way because the battery will charge in 7 minutes or so anyway. :) If you call Rich, he has cell pro chargers that are cheap and can plug right into your hobby box and its as simple as plug it in and wait for the beeps to signal it's done charging. Does not get any simpler than that!

RE: 50CC 3D Hobby Shop VS. Aero-works
Do NOT run over 6volts to the ignition on a DLE 30 unless you want it to fail early and run like crap. My voltage reducer puts it at 5.5V and it runs like a top! I have 37ish flights on mine and the only real issue I have had was the pitts muffler cracked and fell off!!!, lol. I used some rubber disks under the cowl screws and they seem to help the cowl from elongating the holes. The plane has been rock solid and I hope to get more flights in this weekend :) You will love it, trust me :)

RE: 50CC 3D Hobby Shop VS. Aero-works
ORIGINAL: daveopam That does help Brian. I listed what I was flying in the original post because I want something that is as well rounded as the 67" OMP Fusion that is my daily flyer. I have been doing this 20+ years and have only flown 2 planes that were better than the Fusion. While I have not owned anything bigger than 1/4 scale before, I have flown a ton of them. Not to brag, but when I go to a fly in or we have one at our field, there are always guys that ask me if I want to fly their big stuff. I never turn down the chance. I am not going to compete with this plane, but want it to do smooth rolling circle and a strong wall into low ALT hover. I also want it to do exactly what I tell it to do. ( if that makes sense) I have flown a few that had an unexpected snap or stall in their flight envelope. The Fusion has no bad habits, does what my thumbs tell it to do, and that is what I am after. Maybe that's what we are all after.[:D] David
If that is what you are after than the Slick or something from Extreme Flight would be best choice without question. And don't be fooled, the Slick was orgionally designed for IMAC and it flies VERY precisely on the proper rates. Flip a switch and it is a 3D monster. It does not snap out ever and it lands so easy you will smile from ear to ear :)

RE: 50CC 3D Hobby Shop VS. Aero-works
ORIGINAL: daveopam Thanks CRFan1. I was not so much worried about the strength from a crash stand point. It was more of a DA-50 shaking it apart stand point. I read a few post on here about 3DHS planes showing wear after the first year. It's hard to say how they were treated though. :-) david
They are pretty rock solid planes and honestly, I would not worry about it at all

RE: 50CC 3D Hobby Shop VS. Aero-works
My vote is for the 3DHS hands down. Although AW builds a good plane, the 3DHS is just going to flat out fly better because it is lighter and the wing loading is much less in their designs. They hold up just fine. Just because they are light, does not mean they aren't strong.......the use of carbon fiber in critical araes does wonders. I would build a plane because of how it flies, not how it will survive a crash, hehe....we never want to crash :) I have a 71" Slick with a DLE 30 and it has close to 40 flights and it looks brand new and is as tight as the day I finished it. It is by FAR the favorite plane in my fleet. 3dhs Slicks are just such a sweet, gentle, forgiving yet capable of crazy 3D airframe you will be be amazed. IMO, you cannot go wrong with a 3DHS or Extreme Flight airframe. AW builds a quality product no doubt but flying wise they are just not in the same league. That being said, it really depends on what you will be happy with in the end :)
ORIGINAL: apalsson
ORIGINAL: CRFan1 Hmmm...no means of supporting the outer cannister on this set up for the DLE 30...... RE: 225MG
I use 225's on my kids 58" Extreme Flight Extra with a Saito 82 and we are using a 6V NiMH (which means fully charged it's high 6 volts or better). My kid flies the snot out of that plane (to the point I think it will break in the air, lol) and we have zero issues. They seem to be pretty good servos IMO.... That being said, I have recently had some Hitech servos that were sensitive to voltage and that included some expensive 985's..... I have a 71" Slick with a DLE thirty as well and I have HS-5645's in mine and a HS-645 on the throttle. I run a Single 2300mah A123 to power it all and the plane has been rock solid.

RE: mid range burble on DLE30
Yep, make sure you carb is tuned correctly and gap the plug to .024 and make sure no more than 6 volts to the ignition and it should be fine. My DLE 30 does not burble at all except maybe at the very bottom which is fine. This motor runs so well and is a little powerhouse...I am amazed by it quite honestly. :)

RE: Any Good Gas 3D/Freestyle planes under 50cc's
ORIGINAL: bob_nj I got you now. I thought sealing the outside of the spacer may have blocked something. The motor is mounted in such a way that it's hard to see the needles or that screw. The needles are almost in line with the firewall and are hard to get to for sure. You would think the carb would either be in the box behind the motor, or in the fuse. This particular plane didn't work out that way. It's a pain to pull the motor, but that's what is needed to work on the carb. Oh well... Hopefully putting new Walbro parts in the carb will hold it for awhile. Anyway, took the plane out yesterday and put seven flights on it. The plane is awsome, and the motor did not miss a beat. Quite impressive for a spank brand new motor. Idle is great, transition is good, and wide open is fine. Can't beat it! Just stopped home for a shower. Back to the campsite. Have a great holiday! Bob
Fantastic! Enjoy the plane and have fun! Sounds like you are good to go :)

LOLOL...that is hilarious because I was just re-reading the posts and that was going to be my next question...just dawned on me that you mentioned it was hitting the "idle stop" :) Glad thats all it was! definitely remove and toss that screw and let the servo do the work. As an FYI, the holes I am talking about are on the gasket surfaces, not the outside of the block. If you ever take it apart, you will see what I mean. The DLE is a good little motor and I hope you have fun with the plane :)
