RE: Hobby Lobby Sr. Telemaster ARF
Mike, probably you don`t have enough down elevator, I can burn a full tank of fuel with the flaps down and full throttle with my Telemaster, both the Senior and the .40 I did put about 5º down thrust on the engine.

RE: Hobby Lobby Sr. Telemaster ARF
Hi Mike. Sorry about your crash ¡¡¡OUCH!!! You should mix in a little down elevator with flaps to compensate for the tendency to balloon when you apply flaps with full throtle, I did it and it works fine, it will take a little trial and error before you get it just right.

It has a tapered wing with a thin simetric airfoil and a fairly high wing loading.

You are absolutely right, just checked the specs on both engines and .46LA puts out 1.2HP at 15.000 rpm against 1.65 at 16.000 for the AX.

RE: CMPro Lancair
Sorry about the mistake, it is the new OS .46XA which I understand is the replacement for the FX. Anyway, the plane should weight close to 6 pounds, so will see what happens, probably the best .32 engine in a .46 size is good enought?

RE: CMPro Lancair
I have a OS .46 FA in my Lancair, and it flies like a rocket, much more than enough power, I think the LA, will fly it with no problem. It does have a tendency to tip stall at low speeds, so better be careful when landing.

RE: CMPro Lancair
To mount the engine with the correct offsets, I installed washers behind the mounting holes of the left motor mount, and thinner washers under the rear mounting holes of the engine. Seems to me that you will have to modify the installation of the throtle cable so the tank will fit. Attached some pictures that may help you with the tank installation. Calixto

RE: CMPro Lancair
Just talked to Rod, and your questions can be best answered with pictures which I will try to send tomorrow, to mount the tank, you will need to make a ring out of 1/4"foam that fits around the tank plug, then insert the tank on its side between the front fuselage formers (it only fits well in one position) in such a way that the foam ring around the plug fits flat against the firewall, then hold it in place with a hard wood piece pushing the back of the tank against the space in the center of the last former, you can add a piece of foam between the tank and the stick, the pressure exerted against the firewall by the foam ring, will hold the stick in place, don`t glue it because you may need to remove the tank in the future. The push rod need to be cut almost in halve, the metal rods at the ends give you a lot of room for adjustment. Will meassure the carbon rond on my airplane and send you the measurement. By the way I took my Lancaire to Costa Rica`s rc contest last week and it won the first place in the civil aviation scale category. Good luck

RE: CMPro Lancair
After 3 flights last thursday and 4 flights yesterday, I can say that the modified Lancair is a good flier. Made some mild aerobatics like rolls, loops, Himelmas, knife edges and hamer heads and it handles them all very well. Some pictures attached, I removed the coul untill the last flight, so the new engine would not overheat. Attached some pictures taken by my friend Floyd Skoubo.

RE: CMPro Lancair
A .61 will be too big an engine for that airplane, it will make it nose heavy and you will have to ruin the coul to install that motor. A .46 is more than enough, if you want to race it, use a .51 two stroke at the most.

RE: CMPro Lancair
My son did the first and second flights, had problesms with the engine overheating (new OS .46 that only had burned one tank of fuel). It flies like the unmodified one, only that it can slow down much more for for landings and the glide ratio is shallower. itl does tip stall if it slows down too much. Atached some pictures of my Lancair with the mods (the one with the black stripes at the wing root.

RE: CMPro Lancair
Finished mine last night, made the following modifications, Added a 7.5" to the wing at the center (will post pictures monday) made new main landing gear so they wouldn`t be set too far apart. weight is 6.25 pounds. Dialed inn the following throws elevator 8 mm up and down, 16 mm total, ailerons 0.5" up an down 1" total, ruder .75" left and right, 1.5" total. cg, set at .72mm from leading edge at the root. I have a friend that built one without mods, and it flies beautifully, just lands a little hot. Very importat to set the cg. at 72mm and keep the throws in the elevator below 10mm in each direction, if you dial inn too much throw, it will snap when you give it full elevator. I am shure that is what happened to all the people that have crashed it. Will post pictures of construction and set up monday, also a first flight report.

RE: CMPro Lancair
Dear Mr. Rayo Morronga. Ringo`s Lancair flew again yesterday with no problem, I believe the people that have had problems with tip stalls had way too much throw in the elevator, Ringo`s only has 8 mm up and down and it is more than enough.

Hi Mr. Rayo Morronga. I will talk to Perkeo and have him call you to make an apointment and give you all the details, because his Lancair will be finishe before mine. Of course you will have to pay for dinner and drinks afterwards for Ringo Perkeo and me, besides you will have to put up with all the BS he puts out ever y time he shows up.

RE: CMPro Lancair
I would wait and see how the mods work out, I should test fly it in a couple of weeks. Last week I test flew a friends Lancair with no mods and it is a really hot plane, I was so nervous about tip stalling it that the whole flight, take off and landign was at the same speed, flew it twice with no damage.

RE: CMPro Lancair
After reading all the horror posts on the CMPRO lancair, I decided to increase the wingspan 9" to tame the horrible tip stall tendency. I added a 9" section in the center of the wing made out of high density foam, covered with 1/16 balsa and a 9" longer aluminum tube. Also had to modify the main landing gear so it won`t be 9" wider apart. Will post pictures nexts week and send a test fly report after the first flight. It is such a beautiful aircraft that it deserves the extra effort.
