RE: Why Doesn't The AMA and the Hobby as a whole market to minorities?
This thread is silly. I can't believe I'm even responding. Racism is a crutch that some just will not let go of. This is obviously a case of that.

RE: Need help first racer.
Ok, started assembling this thing. Picked up the servos for the wing yesterday. Decided to go with Hitec hs125mg low profile servos. With the wing being so narrow, had to find something that would fit. Got the tail all put together and epoxied in. Now I am on the hunt for an engine. Need a .40 glow rear exhaust engine. I would also like throttle control on the carb. Jim, Thanks for the info, I'll keep it in mind.

HighPlains, Thanks for the info. Did some checking and found out that I will not be racing this plane. This type of racer is way outdated. Looks like it will just be a nice rocket to play with. I'll post more questions as I have them... I'm sure there will be many[:D]

Need help first racer.
I picked up a Midget Mustang this weekend. It has a fiberglass fuse and foam core wings (sheeted and covered in poly.) Very nice build, someone put some love into it. I would like to finish this in a worthy fashion. Now my questions are these: 1. the wing is a solid piece at this point. How do I run my servo wire through it? 2. Where can I find a rear exhaust .40 size engine to run this? 3. If I were to race this... where can I find what class this is in.. and rules for this class? 4. What are common mistakes when building a pylon racer? 5. What brand of kit might this be? Thanks for any help.

It is plumbed into the mufflers via a check valve. Have checked the valve and it IS in the correct way. Between the pump and mufflers. The problem is not delivery, the pump won't run at all when the engine is running.

New to giants: Need Smoke
I just got my first large airplane. It is a 33% Sukhoi and I put a Kroma 100 on it. My question is... What do you guys recommend for smoke? I can't see paying $13 per gal. when it will only last 3 flights. I am going to use a 50oz tank. I was thinking maybe parafin oil or something like that. Thanks in advance for your input. -Brent Edited to make my question more clear. P.S. I don't fly bad lines[sm=shades_smile.gif]

RE: Need help! 9CSuper: making flaps work
Thanks for the help. Got it going right, and added spoilers to it (not that it needs it). I set it up on a slider first got everything set up, and then changed it to switch "c". Down is now flaps, center makes them work as ailerons, and up is spoilerons. Anyhow, thanks for the help, gonna fly when it's not so hot. Maybe later tonight!

I just got an E-Flight Ultra Stick PNP. I added servos to make the flaps work, and also want to use them as ailerons when not in the flap position. Details: Ail. plugged into channel 1 Flap #1 into channel 5 Flap #2 into channel 6 I would like them to work as ailerons when the switch is up, and then come down as flaps when the switch is down. I would like to do this without effecting the outside ailerons. Thanks in advance for any help. -Brent-

RE: Nitro models pusher Bobcat?
ORIGINAL: noahb bobber, does it look as if it is as far forward as the bobcat 46? If you look at the top, it is pretty far forward. I don't want to doubt the designer so to speak, but I think it's a misprint. I don't see anything on the bobcat that would justify a forward cg as the instructions called out. If it was say .5" that we were talking about then it would not be that big of a deal, but it's around 2.5 ". In an earlier post, somebody posted they added 1.5lbs to the nose to obtain bal. I just don't see that happening unless they used a huge engine. any one else has a thought on the cg?
I had to add the 1.5 lb to the nose, I'm running an O.S. 61 W/ stock muffler. That was setting the CG @ 6.9". I like the 11" cg idea better, Then it would balance just fine[;)]

I am building a Bobcat 50 with an O.S. 61 on it. Has anyone else built or flown one? In order to get the CG where the manual says, I will have to add about a pound of weight to the nose. Just wanted to find out if anyone else has had this problem? Thanks in advance...

RE: Looking for a tough plane...HELP?!?!
It is possible, but not likely. I take great care when building. Another reason that it could break clean at the fuse is that the area where the stab goes into the fuse acts as a fulcrum. With the arm of the stab working against it, could cause the break, as it did at the T/E spar. When I removed the coating from the other side, I found where it had broken pieces glued together, from the factory. I don't want to sound like I am slamming Hanger9. I have several of their products, and I'm very happy with them. I have also read many good reviews about this plane. I just feel like I got a lemon.

The futaba 9CHPS will go up to 140% on the end points. As far as setting it up again, I am not going to. I will fix it, recover it, and sell it at a swap meet. It will not be perfect, and for a $200 plane, not worth keeping. I'll just consider it a lesson learned. You get what you pay for[;)] If you do have any recommendations for a good pattern plane, I think I am going to use the motor and electronics in one. Thanks for your help. -Brent-

I tried to send them via your email button, but not being computer savvy, I could only figure out how to post them here. I have already started repair on the airplane. The blue arrows point to the place where it broke. I can remove the stab and send it to you if you like. I will need a day or so to trace it out to make anothe one though. I did install the carbon rods, there is still wood on it where it pulled out. It really looks like it had a weak spot where the T/E spar stopped. After removing the covering, the break looks clean. Thanks for your intrest in this. -Brent-

Looking for a tough plane...HELP?!?!
I have an O.S. 91 C-Spec engine with a Mac tuned pipe system on it. I am looking for a pattern type plane that will hold up to an engine that size, 7-10 lbs. I bought a Funtana X 100 last week, and flew it yesterday. It was not to the quality I have come to expect from Hanger 9. I did a few mild turns, and just flew the pattern with it. In straight an level flight, the whole left side of the horiz. stab came off. It broke at the fuse, and just past the spar. I thought about contacting Horizon, but then thought "what's the use?" I built the plane per the instructions, and have been building planes (kits & arfs) for many years. The plane was built correctly, just very weak in the tail. [:@] Anyhow, back to the subject. I am looking for a 60 size plane to put this motor on, that will hold up to aggressive flying. Any help would be, well, helpful![:D] Thanks in advance, Brent

I just got a 52" gas boat. I got it all set up and running right only to end up stumped at the problems I am having. First, it will hardly turn to the left, but is pretty quick on right turns. Also when you give it full power, it leans to the right. You almost have to give it full left rudder to keep it going straight. The prop is in the center and the rudder is on the right side. Thanks in advance for any help. -Brent-

RE: Noob needs help!!
The prop is razor sharp, an I assume balanced. I added a trim tab to the right side. The servo does move the rudder to its full deflection in both ways. When you turn it to the left, it just makes a waterfall behind the boat. Has very little authority at all, and leans the boat to the left without turning it.

What could be the problem? I have seen this engine myself, looks like a flawed design to me. Meier10 has not removed the factory installed plug, now it is the same problem on another new engine. I could understand it if it had a lot of time on it.
