RE: New Hangar 9 1.50 P-51 Build
Find something to put in the fuse so you can hang it vertical. Then set the motor on the standoffs on the firewall with the spinner backplate on it and mark where the holes need to go.

Rudder has worked fine. I did wick thin CA in the hole to harden it before i glued the rudder on. Here's a couple pics from today - thanks Hellcat 716.

The tailwheel doors are fine - no issues. As to the main gear doors, i couldn't make them work right with the electric gear no matter how i adjusted them so i finally just removed them. They might work ok with pneumatics though. Not noticable except on the ground.

Maiden flights today at last. NO issues! The Robart electric gear worked perfect. If you have the TF P-40 you already know how it flys. Tracks great. Suggested low rates were fine.

I also did not need any trim changes with flaps. This has to be one of my best flying planes - you'll love it. A little tricky ground handling though. Watch out for cross winds. Good luck on your flight.

How i did it with my 9 ch 9503x is: two ch for elev, 2 ch for flaps (reverse one in TX), one ch with Y for rudder & TW steering, one ch for ailerons with Y, one thro, one choke, one gear. Mixing is not reqd as the TX has provisions to use 2 ch for flaps and elev. in the programming.

I had to cut a semicircle out of each door where the wheel axel passes thru to prevent hangups. Also shortened the supplied spring by about 1/4". I'm using the electric tailwheel and it has worked without fail about a dozen times. BTW - your cowl flags are in the mail.

RE: Top Flite Giant Corsair ARF Disappeared.
Thanks for the kind words. Springs still need tweaking (weakening). It's all about the spring rates. It will work fine inverted but hangs up right side up. However, gravity helps the doors open . Here she is up on her feet for the first time. First time with center wing mounted for a fit check - fits perfect. Still lots left to do - install fuel system. front gear doors, cut cowl openings etc.

RE: Top Flite Giant Corsair ARF Disappeared.
OK. This is what i came up with for the gear doors. Keep in mind that the computer aided design was with the computer between my ears which is old and tends to lock up a lot. So this was trial and error - mostly error but by the third change was working. The mechanism is essentially a "U" shaped wire which I made out of fairly soft 4/40 music wire. Two hardwood blocks are glued into the bottom of the wheel well and the wire is secured with nylon landing gear straps so as to be removable. Brackets are soldered to the wire in position as shown Too close to the front and there is not enough trave - too close to the center and the wheel will bind. The U is attached to the door with two 2/56 ball links connected with 2/56 all thread and attached to the door with some leftover cowl "L" brackets i had on hand. Springs are added on each side to keep the U centered and to let the doors pop open. I had to use fairly weak springs because i am using electric gear and don't want the resistance to "amp out" the cuttoff mechanism. After fiddling with it all day, it seems to work ok. I still have to glue the hinges into the wing - it's a lot easier to work with if you don't glue them in first. The dimensions of the U are : 4 1/2" across the back with 3 1/2" sides and 1" attaching arms for the LG straps.

Good job - thanks for the flight report. We have had some throttle servos quit also and have since gone to digital DS821s with no further problems. Did you use the main gear doors and if so how did you operate them? I have started putting on a few rivets , don't know if they show up.

Looks great! The only issue I found so far is that some of the hardwood blocks - like on the servo hatches - split easily and had to be replaced. Started gluing in cockpit pieces.
