RE: balsa usa mustang
Built one in 2001 & flew with Webra 1.20. Good build - much better engineered and fewer parts count than the Top Flite. Sold it a few years ago for a bigger one. Flew Good.

RE: Hangar 9 1/4 scale Cub build thread...
Starts easily by hand after the 1st flight of the day. Starts easily with the starter too. The paint is holding up well - it's epoxy paint.

RE: JR PCM9X II programming of aux4 channel
I have the same issues. I want to mate the nose wheel steering (aux 4) to the rudder. All the other channels are in use. Aux 1 is flaps, Aux 2 is elevs,Aux 3 is throttles (2) and the gear channel is in use. I INH the Aux 4 but it won't come up in wing type to mate.

Sorry - meant the 85" kit. Didn't do any work this weekend as we went to Reno for the races. Very inspiring Mustang wise. For those interested, Strega won - 22 yr old Steve Hinton Jr at 491.8 mph. Rare Bear 2nd.

RE: New Hangar 9 1.50 P-51 Build
The cheap way to go is to use the Top Flite kit for the 65" P-51 and cut it down to fit. ( I did this with the P-47) I got mine from DBalsa.com.

RE: New Hangar 9 1.50 P-51 Build
When you align your mount - try bracing the fuse standing up on it's tail. Then you can more easily position the mount. Drill one hole first and secure the mount. Then, if everything still looks good - drill a second hole and install the bolt. Then, with two bolts already installed - drill the last two holes. This is a little slower process but insures accuracy.

RE: New Hangar 9 1.50 P-51 Build
You must thin the rails slightly towards the center of the wing to create a slight angle. I also used a washer under the outboard edge of the mounting. This shows the gear finally installed and the retracted pic shows the doors in place although not yet recovered and mounted to the struts. up on her feet for the first time!

RE: New Hangar 9 1.50 P-51 Build
My Frankie (soon to be Rosalie) has finally arrived! Got the engine mounted today and started on the Robarts. The first one fits without rail mods but I will have to redrill two of the holes. The fuse arrived with the lower vertical fin crushed - had to repair and resheet.I ended up glassing the fin for reinforcement - they had sanded it too thin. Won't matter as it will all be recovered anyhow. Here's a pic of the scheme.

RE: New Hangar 9 1.50 P-51 Build
If your pics won't load the file size is probably too big. An easy fix is to go to where you have your pics stored on your computer, select one and "edit". Then select resize for the web. This will create a newly sized pic that should post. Good Luck. G.
