RE: A123 Battery Question
I am no battery expert but I have been using A123 batteries for almost four years. Real A123 battery cells only come in two mah's, 1100 MAH and 2300 MAH. Anything else I would be suspicious of.

RE: Battery Charger/Cycler Recommendations
I agree with Hemikiller. I have two Elites and they are good and work fine. However, my charges do not work on A123 batteries so I had to buy a CellPro which I highly recommend to you. The CellPro is easy to work, does all the battery technology on the market place and is less expensive than the Elite. Go to www.fmadirect.com and you will see the entire line of CellPro products. Go to www.hangtimes.com and look at the Ultra Switch II. This is an excellent switch for A123 batteries. You should also see on this site the wiring diagram for your system.

Try www.hangtimes.com When I bought my 9303, the first thing I did was replace the TX battery with either a 1650 or 2000 mah battery from hangtimes. I buy all my batteries from him, especially my RX A123's. He is a good and reliable vendor. Capt Lou

Safe is a question only you can answer. If it were my RC plane, I wouldn't fly with a battery that I was uncertain could bring my plane back safely. A new battery is certainly cheaper than a new plane. Capt Lou

RE: Please give your opinion on my new DLE 55
Truckracer: Thanks for your reply. I did everything you described. I did not use the gasket. I used the red RTV silicone and made sure bolts were clean and all threads were well coated with RTV or red locktite. The muffler I used was a Bisson with a strap that was always attached to the motor mounts per its instructions. The loosening bolts on the muffler I can deal with but my real problem now is the severe pitting around the exhaust port. Some of this pitting is 1/16" deep and runs across the entire port surface and looks like its welded to the muffler. I cannot seal this with a gasket. I really want to know how the pitting developed. I find it hard to believe that it was caused by exhaust heat and, if this is the cause, then there is a problem with the engine design because the exhaust port cannot handle the heat generated by the engine. I'm not bad mouthing the engine as I really like it and it perfoms well. I have another DLE 55 installed on a MX2 I just want to understand my issue so I don't repeat it a second time.

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !
I just rebuilt my FA-100 and the rocker arm bracket looked like it was part of the head which does not make any sense but I did not have to disassemble it. However, I looked at the owner's manual and the engine diagram/parts show the bracket as a separate part that appears to be screwed onto the cyclinder head. If you don't have one, go on line and get an owner's manual and you will see it on page 18.

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !
I believe I found the answer to my lubrication issue of the cam. A friend told me that he read a magazine article that stated you should stand your plane on its spinner/nose when storing it as the lubricant from the crankshaft housing will flow forward past the main bearings into the cam area. I rebuilt my engine and can see how this will occur. When I broke down the engine to repair, there was plenty of oil in the crank housing and had I stood the palne on its nose, it would have flowed into the cam.

RE: A 123-LIFE
Red gave you the thechnical specs for these batteries. When you see A123's advertised, they are also referred to as Life batteries but be careful I have seen Life ads that really weren't A123 batteries for sale. If you want A123's, make sure that what the seller represents they are A123. One of the specs that you will see for true A123's is that each cell is 3.3 volts where some Life ads have shown a slightly different voltage and were not A123.
