RE: Merit/WSN T-34 Build - w/TK-22
Thanks for the input guys, its nice to know that the plastic tracks are so durable! I did think about putting in the HL gearboxes at the beginning of this build. However, having no access to machining or press-fitting equipment at home means that I can't fit a final drive gear on the HL sprocket shaft. So I can't install the HL gearboxes without having to modify the lower rear hull (Wackywheelz did an excellent guide on modifying his T-34 a while ago, but his website is so long gone). However, from past WSN T-34 reviews, it seems that there were a lot of issues with gear slippage, partly because the stock WSN electronics drove the motors and gears too fast. With the TK-22 and momentum feature turned on, the motor speed and acceleration curve are just right. At low speeds the tank runs very scale like! I have not experienced any issues with the stock gearbox so far. Nate

Futaba crystal in a GWS radio
Hi guys, Would using a Futaba crystal in a GWS radio work? The radio in question is a GWS GWT6A running on 75Mhz. If I do give it a test, is there a chance that I'll fry the electronics? Thanks in advance!

RE: Plastic cement waterproof?
Yup, it's pretty waterproof. I've used Testor's cement for a while now without any problems, the cement actually softens the styrene and sort of enables the parts to be "welded" together from what I've seen.

You could try to the boiling water method, i know this has been used to solve the hull flex problem on the Trumpeter models.

RE: Scratch built U96
I personally prefer two motors driving two props, you'd have to either invest in twin ESCs or a single ESC able to handle the current load of the two motors. If you chose to go with the single motor route, you will have to use a gearbox to drive both props, this eliminates the need for a second ESC altogether. As for the propeller seals, stuffing boxes are very popular, there are also specially made submarine seals for this purpose: http://www.subtech.uk.com/acatalog/SubTech_Range_of_Hardware_Products.html

RE: Tracking
Thanks guys, I think one of the first upgrades I'll invest in will be a carbon fiber tail boom. If I have trouble with orientation at low altitudes, I'll grab another canopy, always had a soft spot for white, yellow and orange.[8D]

Tracking
Hey guys, This might sound like a stupid question but just out of curiosity, for those who own a green version of the Belt CP V2, have anyone of you had trouble tracking the heli while flying over grass? I always thought it was kinda counter-intuitive to paint a heli green since this might confuse the eyes while hovering at low altitudes over grass...

RE: Walmart Submarine = Cool ! Part II
From what I remember, there is a strip of metal running along the length of the battery compartment, at the end of which is soldered a wire (Red in the .pdf file, you can see it in the second pic). You need to desolder this wire from the strip and resolder it with the other wire (Green in the document). Even though the wire colours on the Seawolf are violet and orange (not sure), they should still be soldered at the same places as the red and green wires on the older Chicago model.

I believe they were there to make space for the main ballast tank intakes at the bottom of the central hull, near the keel.

RE: Submarine Radios (Futaba 4GWD vs F 6EXP)
Since you are living in the US I'd say stick to 75 mhz for surface and keep 72 mhz for the sky![;)] Of course 27mhz also works for subs but keep in mind that the newer 2.4 ghz radios, although great for rc cars, do not penetrate water and therefore cannot be used for subs.
