RE: Top Flite Giant FW-190?
Love to see them produce this kit/arf. Hopefully with scale lines, unlike the rest of their models. Great flying models, but please put a little more effort into the profile appearance! [:)]

Looks great, Jeff! Been working on my models too, (while unemployed). Back to work next week though, so progress will slow.

Converted mine to a three piece, and to a Super Cub. The mods are pretty easy to do. You can use the wing tube or do something similar to what I did. Tried to upload photos without success, so here is a link. http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1513774&page=4

Thanks guys! Those are just H-9 floats with a little added paint. The canoe is a great idea. I thought about a small fishing net leaning up against the floats and catching some of the small bass that I saw swimming around. Nice Cub Sherman!

Take a little breather and relax, Vincent. Your gonna need the rest to get prepared for all the excitement in painting. I finally finished mine yesterday and now it's my time to rest.

Painting is not far off. The rib tape goes quicker than you would think. Rib stitching will go quick too, if you plan to add them. It's worth the extra effort.

You can also cut your own from the left over Solartex if you by the scissors. That's what I did. A little more work. Tite-bond III works well for stitching.

Thanks for the compliments, guys. Vincent, You are going to love Solartex. Totally agree that it is the easiest iron on covering you will ever apply. Following heat instructions carefully though. Too much heat may cause it to sag later. I will follow and enjoy the rest of your build. Looking great!

RE: How to build dummy ww1 1/3 spandau guns
Thanks, Abu. The cooling shrouds are made of .020 styrene plastic, capped at both ends using 1 1/4 brass faucet pipe. I had to drill all holes in the styrene, then painfully cut from hole to hole to form the slot. Faucet pipe slots were milled. The receiver housing is balsa construction similar to the BUSA and then covered in styrene so there is no major filling before prime. Most other parts were made from a thicker styrene. The ends of the barrels are made from CA tips and, believe it or not the cap on a Vicks nasal inhailer (cut the top of the cap off). They are holding up very well after 4 flights and I have not had any problems with them falling apart.

RE: How to build dummy ww1 1/3 spandau guns
Scratch building is the best route to take. Yes, they are labor intensive but the result will be much nicer than any other kit on the market. These are what I put in my 1/3 Fokker and took about 80 hours.

(Warbirds over Michigan several years ago). [/quote] Hmmm. Never had one. You must be thinking of someone else from the CARDS club. Steve, I will be bringing my 1/3 GTM D.VI Two flights on it so far. RE: GTM 1/3 DVI build
I noticed that large balancer in the earlier photos. Not sure how accurate it is. I balanced mine with the help of a friend using only our finger tips all the way out to the last rib. 7" back from the leading edge of the wing. The wing is not flush with the firewall (engine mount). Engine mount is recessed about a inch or so behind the leading edge.

RE: GTM 1/3 DVI build
Glenn, How can you put over 10# in the nose to balance using a DLE111? Are you sure you have the correct balance point? Mine weighs 39# with a ZDZ80B2 and I only needed to add 24oz. I just can't see canisters needing that much extra nose weight when they are so close to the CG.

Pete, your a jerk. You remind me of that person that sued McDonalds years ago for spilling too hot of coffee on them. We in the modeling community help one another, share info and are friendly towards each other. We are brothers and sisters.. You are an outcast and you just don't fit in. Shame! jeffEE, ditto that. I too feel sorry for BUSA and Proctor.
