RE: Tres Amigos Warbird Race: July 22nd
Ok, after numerous phone calls and text messages begging me to say something funny on here, I guess I'll chime in. Can you beleive one pilot left me a 4 minute message begging me to say something. I guess it's not a party unless leadfoot is there. I don't have a fancy computer in front of me to make pictures (unlike a certain wannabe pilot who found the secret to racing in redding

RE: Tres Amigos Warbird Race: July 22nd
I just talked to Kimo and he said the race was originally named tres kahuna and since changed to tres amigos. He went back to the original name cause that's what is on the plaques. He said call it what you want, just show up on the 22nd.

RE: Tres Amigos Warbird Race: July 22nd
The race is named Tres Amigos. It always has been. People are confusing it with the Big Kahuna race we had in April. Apparently the CD Kimo is even confused if he made a flyer saying Tres Kahuna unless he changed the name and didn't tell anybody. Tom you can now publicize twice as hard to promote the right race. Jake....... You're insane. Seek help.

RE: SAM's Pylonpalooza Warbird Race June 3, 2012
As far as your time goes, I did the math a few times and kept coming up with 7:39.4. It's hard because I'm not good at math and had my wife help me out. I was coming up with wrong times too but she showed me how to do it. Just remember you are working with 60 seconds in a minute not 100. That was my problem. When we enter the times in the computer and it does the work for us. The computer was correct though. Your time kinda gets thrown out though because of the breakout but you still get 12 points. Does that make since? Probably not cause I just confused myself. [;)]

RE: SAM's Pylonpalooza Warbird Race June 3, 2012
Hey babe, the points sheet doesn't account for did not starts (DNS), did not finish's (DNF), and break outs (BO). While there were 4 pilots with 12 points the winners are determined by these three factors before it comes to time. In your case you had 12 points but you had 1 break out where the other 3 pilots had zero breakouts. The actual order of the winners were 1st was ed Wittenburg, 2nd Kimo Dias (fastest time, no breakouts), Ray Brindos (2nd fastest time, no breakouts). That's how the 4 way tie was determined.

RE: SAM's Keaton Raphael Memorial Charity Race
Nice plane Shawn! This race is going to be pretty laid back. There won't be a rush to get things going. If you need a new glow plug, go ahead put one in. The race won't start without you. You can race your plane in multiple classes. You can even race your plane in one class then hand over the control to your buddy for them to race in another class as long as they paid the 35 dollar entry fee. If you would like to race two classes the second class will only be $20.00. If you race in the SAM Outlaw races your Outlaw race plane is good to race too. Come out and race with us. It's going to be a lot of fun!

RE: SAM's Keaton Raphael Memorial Charity Race
Cool bulldog, you and I will be up against each other. Just a reminder, today is the last day to register if you want a t-shirt. The order for the shirts will be placed tomorrow morning to be sure they are ready for race day. You can still register after today but you won't get the t-shirt. Let's get a bunch of racers for this thing. All the money is going to a great cause.

SAM's Keaton Raphael Memorial Charity Race
Hey everybody, JR Schiager has asked me to make a thread here on RCU to tell everybody about the upcoming charity race at SAM's on May 5th and 6th at the Sacramento Area Modelers flying field. All proceeds and donations will go to the Keaton Raphael Memorial organization and all preregistration's will get a t-shirt if registered by April 26th. Information can be found here at the SAM's website.... http://www.sacramento-rc-flyers.org/charityrace.html We have a lot of intrest in this race from sponsors and the press. We are trying to get a good turn out so we are asking people to register early. You can race any airplane as long as it meets the SAM's wing area/engine displacement chart. Yes, you can race your trainers...... If it meets the wing area/engine displacement chart bring it out and race. There will be plaques for the winners and you are supporting a great cause. This race will be a lot of fun and will be a different change from our regular warbird racing. All the SAM warbird racing rules will apply only with a variety of airplanes. I hope to see everybody out there and register as soon as you can to reserve your t-shirt. Thanks everybody!

RE: SAM's Big Kahuna, April 1st
According to the weather channel app on my phone (there's an app for that [:D]) the weather is looking good for Sunday. 60% chance of rain Saturday but 0% chance on Sunday. Hope it's right!

RE: SAM's Big Kahuna, April 1st
JR just called me and asked me to post this message...... JR is going to do everything he can to run this race this weekend, even if we have to take rain breaks. Only 50% of the race needs to be completed to make it a complete race where it won't get rescheduled. He believes the race will happen on April 1st. If there are any questions he would like you guys to call him directly and gave me an ok to post his phone number here. 916-792-1526.

RE: SAM's Big Kahuna, April 1st
I believe that the CD of the race will make the call the morning of the race if we are to race or not. If it does get canceled then it will likely be postponed till the following weekend Sunday. This is a call the CD (JR) will have to make and I can't speak for him. That being said, if it was Pylonpalooza this is the approach I would take.
