RE: Gary Allen 33% Bücker Jungmeister
Hi Guys, I am in need of someone who would like o finish a Jungmeister. It is about 2/3 done with wings and tail rigged and ready to cover after detailing. You will have to pick it up, I won't ship it. I found out yesterday that my yumor is back, incurable, and untreatable so I don't think I will get to finis it. $450 obo. CharlieK

Hi Ken, Sorry to hear about the Jungie. I almost have the wings on mine then I can finish the fuselage. It might fly in another 2 or 3 years at the rate I am progressing. Charliek

Thats a beautiful airplane. Be nice to hear how it flies. I am starting to install the wings on mine, maybe it will be done in a couple of years. Things are kind of slow now being as I don't work on it when the shop temp is less than 40 which is not uncommon around here. Hope to have the wing install and rigging done by spring. CharlieK

The cowl I have is 11 in. at the back end. It is probably 10 - 10 1/2 at the forward end but you may be able to fit it in the blisters. The Decathalon is a good flying airplane Ken. The real one is not very strong so you have to limit the g's you pull but it sure is fun when two Cessna's make a pass at you and you can peel off and chase them :) Charliek

RE: Gary Allen 33% Bücker Jungmeister
Hi Ken, The Decathalon is only about 2 ft. short of a Pitts - you ought to put a seat in it and fly it yourself :). How did your Waco turn out, it should have flown well. It would be interesting to compare the Decathalon to the full size for flying characteristics, the Sig cub I built flew exactly like a full size J-3. Looks like fun to build, if I ever get the Jungie done. Charliek

RE: Gary Allen 33% Bücker Jungmeister
I looked at the Waco web site Ken, beautiful looking airplane. I would be leery of using aluminum for the strut pins if you are going to fly aerobatics, it is very weak in shear loading and would really load up the rest of the structure to take up the slack. That why we use all those rivets on full scale. I got an answer back from FPE, the engine should run fine with no stack. I may still use Gary's method of putting the wings on, it will be a make it up as I go thing. I am still thinking about jigging the whole thing up and doing it all together. I have enough weights ( bricks) to keep it all aligned I think. It worked for the Extra I built but it only had two wings to deal with. I am planning on using dope on mine, kind of hung up on airplane stuff for airplanes. My wife will make me paint it outside though, can you imagine how high you could get painting this thing in the house :). Would also kill your liver if I've still got one after working on airplanes for 55 years. Charlie k

RE: Bucker Jungmann vs Jungmeister
Don't know German. I took the spelling directly from the book which is in German and English. The captions on the paint schemes are only in German. My computer will not print the German letters so I would assume you are correct for English. All airplanes are referred to as female anyway, but the Jungie is much higher class than a broad in the american terminology:) charliek

RE: Bucker Jungmann vs Jungmeister
Hi Guys, Hopefully in a month or so I will get back to work on the airplane. Some information on previous questions - Bob Holman has or had 1/4 plans for the Jungmann and an inline cowling for it. He also had the Scale aircraft magazine plans for the original Jungmeister which are a mod of the Platt plans. The Pica airplane and probably the Platt airplane fly quite well if properly balanced and have the top wing put on straight. My Pica airplane had to have the rigging checked every time it was put together or it was a nasty flying thing. With the top wing aligned correctly it was a very good flying airplane. The airfoil on the Bucker airplanes was a Bucker designed airfoil similar to a Clark Y according to what I have read. If you want to know for sure you can google both airplanes and there are a bunch of websites which have a lot of pictures and at least one which has a good view of the airfoil. I can't remember which one it is and have not cross checked it with the Clark Y as I am presently building using the standart semisymetrical airfoil that rc'ers use. The 1/4 Jungmann from Holman has a flat bottomed airfoil but it appears to be awfully thin and I am not sure if it is scale.

RE: Pull-Pull Rudder Setup Help
you don't want the wires very tight. full scale uses very little tension on the cables and some small airplanes have none and use springs on the rudder pedals to keep the cables tight. it may be your servo does not return to the same center, I have had this problem. or it may be to much friction in the hinges, there should be virtually none. RE: Bucker Jungmann vs Jungmeister
The jungmann Lloyd plans are probably still available from Argus Books in england or Bob Holman Plans in Cal.. They show the Lycoming cowling as well as the original. Someone also converted at least one airplane to a symmetrical airfoil. The reason they were converted was a lack of parts for the original engines and european aircraft noise regulations as I understand it. Charliek

RE: Gary Allen 33% Bücker Jungmeister
Hi Ken, I have gotten the tail surfaces and the fuselage structure of my airplane finished so far. Been sidetracked by other projects for the last few months. In response to the tire size question my maint. manual says the original tire size was the same as a 6.00x6 four ply goodyear ( Bu-133-D1 which was built in the 70's or so)or the German tire size was 420x150 which I assume is millimeters. The tires were fairly large as the airplanes were not designed for paved runways. In response to a previous question the aircraft use airfoiled flying wires because of the high drag on a round wire but they probably are not worth the expense on a model unless it is for competition. You guys must have a lot more time than I do, I expect it to take a couple of years to finish mine in between raising grandkids and working part time. Hope to get strated on the center wing section here in the next couple of months. Charlie k
