RE: After market muffler for Zen G26
I purchased mine from abell but it was 4 years ago. They don't have to much Zenoah on their web site anymore ..........I would call them they might have a few left overs or at lease can point you in the right direction as to where you can get a similar muffler that they made. It looks like a Bennet header for the G23/26 is the closes thing to the abell muffler I have. Take a look at the bottom of this page for the g26 header http://bennettbuilt.com/page2.htm I still would call Abell you never know what might be hidding in their stock room.

RE: Seagull Spacewalker 2 1.20 Zenoah g26 mount
This is not a spacewalker but you might run into the same problem I had in fitting a G26 to a 120 size plane. My g26 metal plate was larger than the front fuse. I remover the metal plate and made a wooden plate to fit the fuse of the H9 120 lite. You can see it's bolted on the planes fuse with 4 bolts and you can also see the top bolt on the G26 thats bolts to the back of the new wooden plate i made.............these are the bolts that were in the old metal plate and are counter sunk into the ply plate. I have 4 years on this setup with no problems. Just thought it might help if the spacewalkers fuse is smaller than the g26 metal plate. Opps forgot to add I did epoxy 1/2" triangle stock to the 4 coners inside of the fuse Good luck

RE: NEW DLE30!
Good to hear Jody that the MFG is addressing the issue and it's possably alignment ............alignment pins would be nice.....of course they could just assemble with a alignment jig, but that makes anyone who disassembles it after the factory, in a world of hurt. I don't think it will keep me from purchasing one now...........it seems only a few have this problem, and it will go away with a little more breakin, or a little polishing work on the SPS areas.

RE: NEW DLE30!
ORIGINAL: jedijody SPS, ''shiny piston syndrome'' as coined by the venerable Ralph Cunningham, refers to piston skirt wear in new engines from clearances that are a tad too tight at the bottom of the cylinder. Other than added friction from taking a while to make it's own clearance it doesn't seem to hurt anything that I have seen yet. This is the reason some of them have benefited from a longer run it before expecting them to ''be all they can be''
Hey Jody and RTK......nice photos Jody , I have a quick question does this SPS only occur at the Jug Tabs or is that just coincidence in the photo........ The piston skirt shows a lot of pinch at the vary bottom of the piston(you can see in your first photo) the impression at the bottom of the piston skirt is the same width and height of the jug tab. The SPS above that area looks like (particle drag) as the piston drags metal fragments up the liner it could form this unsual SPS cone shape, that is much higher on the piston than an actual squeeze point. It does makes since to me low idle could become a problem depending on how much friction squeeze a particular engine has. The reason I ask is if its just the tabs making the contact on the piston, it would be a much easier to fix than an out of round cylinder bore. A bore thats to tight will extend the breakin for sure. Normally I don't like to ask question on an engine I don't own...........I only have the DLE55 from Valley View, but I am looking at the DLE30 for a 25% Edge 540 that I now have a OS 160 on. Just a thought

RE: G26 carb issues
You might check the insulator block and insulator gasket, before purchasing new...............Make sure the pressure port hole is free and clear of debris and it on properly, and has no cracks........This insulator block can give you a hard time on idle speeds, tune, and starting if it not right. Just a thought before new carb............but new is good also.
ORIGINAL: redbiscuits I was told by one of the gasser guys at my club to run Pennzoil Air cooled at 32-1. The engine (a g38)ran great but I was getting oil leaking around the muffler and making a mess on the bottom of the plane. What am I doing wrong? I thought gassers were supposed to be cleaner than this? I plan on sealing up the muffler screws a little better, but should I change the ratio of oil as well? Red
My G26 did this it was a poor sealing gasket on the muffler to head.................new gasket stopped it ...........you could try the high temp copper gasket sealer if you engine does not use gaskets.[8D]

RE: How to tune a DLE 55cc gas engine
I agree with T.O.M on this one, the only stopper that gave me trouble also was the early black gas Sullivan, had 2 leaks on the same plane with those (crap) stoppers. I only use DuBro gas red stoppers for years now. Gas or ethanol does not break down the DuBro or the plastic tanks I have used for years. Down hear in GA we have has ethanol in the gas supply for the 10 years I have lived hear. I think some rubbers had a problems with Ethanol in the early years(like 15 years ago) but most MFG's of gas engines updated fuel lines, gaskets,.... ect long ago to handle ethanol. I will try the copper wire barb method TOM describes........sound like a good idea to me...............so far I have just used a nail punch to give a vary vary slight taper to the end of the brass tube and put a zip or twist wire behind the taper. I always use the small line in all my gas or glow application, it just holds great even if you forget the ties.

RE: RCGS 26 - Loose prop adpt. threads??
Try purchasing a new bolt(at your local hardware make sure it's a good graded bolt)..........I found sometimes the bolt is under cut, and the Tapped bolt hole is just fine. It's just one easy thing you can try first. Second and this depends on the material around the bolt hole(I don't know how the 26cc is made) but on other car engines I have purchased the next size up bolt and re tapped the bolt hole larger for a tight fit. Just a thought[8D]

I fly the 120 lite on a G26 Zenoah Mag version. It will do any trick in the book............yes it will 3D hover..........the pull out is a little slow but it does just fine. One of the new 30cc would be a perfect fit power and weight wise in my book. Both the Syssa 30cc and the DLE are lighter than my Mag G26 and would improve the vertical pull out for sure.[8D]

RE: NEW DLE30!
Have to agree fully with T.O.M ............I don't own the engine, but so far it would seem that a vary low percent have experienced problems. Usually a design flaw has a high rate of failure, and a quality control issue will show itself as a low occurrence problem.............a lot of this low occurrence problems can be traced to user experience.....most times. I see far to many folk with perfect running 30's to think it's some big design flaw. If I was in the market for a 30 it personally would not keep me from a purchase.....but the Syssa 30 would also be at the top of my list too. JMO of course.

Hey RC Pile just stick to the plan of having a good time with a couple of well made engine, and let the few egos that are looking to pee up a rope due so. I already have seen value in what you have done....your strip down of these 2 engines (was worth the price of admission alone)your performance figures(although) might be interesting, will not be a deciding factor for most(that have a brain)they will take them with the grain of salt as I will................I do not have the time(in my life) right now to have the fun you are having with YOUR 2 hobby engines. Good luck Hear is my latest (personal)fun project.....I've lost track over the years how many of these Iv 'e done...........her performance came out within 2% of the plan. I wrenched on every single nut and bolt in that car from bumper to bumper. I wonder if my son knows, just how lucky he is driving his graduation present off to Med School. RE: YD-A 56 vs. DLE 55
ORIGINAL: Tseres You are doing a great job so far. The lighter piston should give you higher RPM if all other things are equal. Balancing gives you smoothness. Two rings give you better seal ,compression and longevity. The question is what are you looking for: Higher RPM in the short run or consistent Power in the long run. As you know from building Horse Power in engines. There is always a ''Tradeoff''
Well said Tom.........Nice work so far RC Pile......looks like both engines have good quality. RE: Need help choosing an engine
Turning a 18/6 Master Air screw at 8970/9000rpm on a G26 mag version. I do run an Abbell single stack muffler.........it raises the rpm's about 800 over stock......but it's loud!!!! This is the best motor on your list for sure, only down sides is the weight and on your plane it's not a problem. The mag starts easy on a starter........my mag is well tuned and can be slap started in about 6 flips/slaps................starting a new not tuned mag by hand can be a headache for sure. This motor like to start wet.........plenty of fuel, choke it well for easy starts. Good luck.

RE: NEW SYSSA 30CC GASSER MADE IN THE USA
I think it's still a little early to see what this engine can really do!!!!! Most are not leaning the engine to the max on the first tank........with that said my best guess is the 30 will just be a little more powerful that the G26.........it is only a little larger cc wise. My mG26 mag turns 9000rpm on a 18x6 master airscrew, with an abell single stack muffler cut off 1 inch from stock.......(loud little sucker)and it has around 6 gal through it. So give the 30cc a little time before making a judgement. Will it be earth shaking over the 26cc ....NO!! it's only a few cc larger, my best guess is an 18x8 around 9K should be just about right for the displacement difference. If I was looking at a 30cc it would be on my short list for sure.

RE: NEW SYSSA 30CC GASSER MADE IN THE USA
ORIGINAL: PlaneKrazee
ORIGINAL: AJsToyz Made in USA I like it !! I am a pretty firm believer in you get what you pay for. Even when guys start comparing to the lower priced DLE @ 310.00 plus shipping add the following and the price gets really close. Pitts muffler , will cost from 60.00 - 80.00 Stand offs with bolts if needed. 15.00 - 25.00 Ignition switch 12.00 - 15.00 That DLE is starting to loose its value at this point. Then performance wise , its hard to get good power out of the smaller class engines that are priced lower. I think this should be a real winner !!! Seeing that Todd lives on US soil and builds these in the US I consider him a neighbor, and I like to try to support my friends and neighbors. Andy
Hi Andy, While I agree the performance is down on other smaller gas engines, the DLE is proven to spin a 18X6 @ 9000 rpm and 8400 rpm on a Menz 18X8 with stock exhaust. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kOQ7EjWTMsU&feature=related http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0qOcFt0eJdI&feature=related I hope my SAP will do as well. Really wish Todd had posted a video or two of the engine like he said he would back in August. Who buys made in the usa kits, arfs and radios? I wish I still could. Sig is hanging by a thread, only specialty companies can hang. BTW, really not a pitts muffler more of a chin muffler, but I can make my own header and muffler. Best regards, Brian
Yakes!!!!!!! I love the performance of the dle but the first guy standing in front of a 9000rpm prop>>>>>>>>>>>>>just plain stupid.

RE: Zenoah 26cc vs 26cc EI
I have run the mag version now for 3 years.........I start with an electric started so no problems there. Mine idles at 1600 and tops out at a solid 9000. I forgot my starter last week and had to hand prop it for the first time(keep in mind it's a nicely tuned motor) it not new out of the box. I guessed and put on the choke and covered the air horn with my thumb and propped the engine 6 turns(it was choked to a wet stage)it fired on the 5th and started on the 6th hand prop. Now I don't bother to bring my starter anymore because it was my last engine I used it for anyway. Personally for my airplane(Ultra Stick Light) The Mag is ultra reliable and simple and the weight savings is just not enough for my plane to warrant a ei conversion. If you choose a Mag......just use a electric starter until you get her broken in and tuned well. Great motor no matter which one you purchase.[8D] Opps forgot to add you do really need to know how to hand prop WELL to start a mag.......you need to slap the prop(need glove) it or I use a method I call (sling) my hand is on the lower half of the prop.....my little finger it touching the prop hub and I sling the prop hard to get enough prop speed so the mag fires......speed is the key!!!!!!! not everyone can do this,if your new to hand propping and don't want to use a starter maybe the ei might be a better choise. Just a thought hope it helps

I guess they could change the crankshaft journal size to get a larger displacement, but an increase in compression would suggest a milled head,or a thinner head gasket, maybe a dome piston. If it's as good as the 50, it will be a winner for sure.[8D]
