RE: Scale pattern plane?
The TF P-51 is probably not a good choice for a pattern airplane, but Jim Kirkland flew a design he called a Mustang X in expert pattern (back in the classic years). He flew it with a ST .46, but I think it would be fantastic with an OS .55AX. I think Eureka has a short kit available. One of these days, I'm gonna build one. ChiefK

RE: Why not a Webra engines thread?
Used the oven... 250 degrees, 7 minutes. Once I got the sleeves out I was amazed at how different the two crankcases were inside. Anyone know where I could buy a new cylinder/piston/con-rod? ChiefK

RE: Dirty Birdy ARF
Just thought I'd share this issue... I left my DB upside down in the cradle while I was working on what I thought was a engine/throttle linkage problem. It was there for two weeks. The fuselage apparently can only support it's own weight for short periods of time! Still working on a fuselage rebuild for my scratch Deception. ChiefK

I'm in process of disassembling a Webra Speed .61. Went fine until I got to the cylinder sleeve. It's too tight to remove by hand. How do I get it out without doing any damage to the crankcase? ChiefK

Sorry to hear that the quality is fading... I got one from the first batch delivered and had none of those problems. Movable surfaces all centered (or very close), tight hinge gap. Packed well for shipping. I'm sure that you're disappointed - send it back. ChiefK

RE: Dirty Birdy ARF
I'm not hearing any discussion about engine rules changes for the 2-stroke variety. There's probably more 4-stroke flyers in SPA (especially in the "Expert" group) than 2-stroke flyers. In either case, O.S. is not the only option available. In fact, the Senior Expert class was won by a DB/OS .61 combo a couple of weeks ago. ChiefK

RE: Dirty Birdy ARF
I got it, thanks PJ. He tells me he's using a OS.61 pumper with the fuel tank near the CG and the receiver battery behind the servos... and still needs 2.5 to 3 oz of lead in the tail. So that confirms what I'm seeing in mine too (needs more weight in the tail). Greg

PJ - I've got the same tank and setup for my 2-stroke .61. No fuel draw problems with 30-some flights on the airplane. You gonna be in Asheville next month? Barring some kind of disaster between now and then, I'll be there.. Greg (ChiefK) SPA444

RE: Dirty Birdy ARF
Slows down and lands quite nicely if you balance it correctly. With a Webra .61 2-stroke engine up front, mine needed 1.25oz of lead weight in the tail. Obviously more tail weight would be needed with a heavier engine. ChiefK
