RE: Engine esc issues
Not possible to fry it from connecting the wires wrong. If you connect the wires and the motor turns the wrong direction. Switch any of the 2 wires, or change the direction switch on the transmitter. Either option will change the direction the motor turns. -Chizz

OK, so now I have a new homework assignment on the computer power supply conversion. (Thanks Mickstix) That looks like a great rainy day project. In the mean time, I'd also like to take a battery supply with me to the part etc and don't want to use my truck battery. Any recommendations?

Hey Kurt, or anyone. What kind of 12V power supply would you recommend for one of the B6C chargers? I was thinking about a deep cycle battery of some sort. I've search the site a little bit, but don't see too many specifics. Probably looking at whatever I can pick up at the local Walmart/PepBoys/Autozone, etc. Thanks, -Chizz

RE: Converted Backdraft Project
Parts total, probably a little over $130. If you just wanted the parts necessary to do the Aftershock conversion, it was less than $60. Oh and the deans plugs things, being honest, I'm not a huge fan. It's very hard to get a good grip on those little things. I end up putting my fingers on the soldered points and wiggling back and forth and just end up breaking them. These, while they may not look as nice are much easier to connect/disconnect. I've put these on all my batteries. My 7 year old who has a HiMoto Truck could not get the deans connectors disconnected easily which gave him a reason not to disconnect the battery after use. So, we switched to these and now all's good. I wish there were a better option. Maybe the traxxis connectors...I don't know. -Chizz

Converted Backdraft Project
I had talked before about switching back between the Backdraft and Aftershock. I've purchased all the parts necessary to do the swap and wanted to share some pictures. Thanks to Kurt and URC Hobby for most of the parts. On the yet to purchase list are the rear hubs and new shock towers. Anyway, here are some pictures. I have not put the stickers on the body yet... RE: Redcat Backdraft 8E vs Redcat Earthquake 8E
The Backdraft / Aftershock / Earthquake all share the same chassis. The parts are virtually all the same. I just converted my Backdraft to a SC truck (using parts from the aftershock). They are very similar.

Yeah, you could probably figure out a way to mount the wing. A simple extension would be easy to fab up. At the end of the day, I'm probably going to see the wheels and go another direction. I'd like to trade them for some 12mm short course truck wheels actually.

RE: Backdraft 8e - Savage Flux Wheels (Pics)
Yeah, it wheelies. The stock gearing seems to still work OK. I was worried about that. But, when grabbing full throttle, the front end raises quickly and the front tires ballon. I was a surprized by how much torque it still had with the bigger tires. Besides the clearance issues, it seems the stock steering servo struggles to keep up with the larger tires. Other than that, no real problems. The motor and ESC were cool after running a full charge out...At this point, I'm not sure I'll keep the new wheels. I was actually looking for something a little closer to stock diameter, but a little wider. The savage flux wheels seems huge. -Chizz

Backdraft 8e - Savage Flux Wheels (Pics)
As I mentioned in an early post, I ordered these wheels and tires. I put them on today and took it for a test run. The clearance problems are 1, I can't put the wing on. 2, The front tires rub the chassis frame a little bit. Man, these wheels/tires are huge and bigger than I expected...
ORIGINAL: jbeane316 jeremy beane st. albans wv jbeane316@yahoo.com reason im selling is im tired of going back and forth trying to run it with the 4x4 short corse trucks. thats why it has the body and stuff with it. i dont woan go through changing everything over just to not be allowed in sc class. Redcat Parts Dealers - Backdraft 8e Upgrades
There was another thread about where to purchase parts for the BD8E. Let's try this. I'm doing the following upgrades. I've looked at a lot of online prices and everyone seems to be within a couple bucks of one another. Who wants to PM me a package price for the following items: Metal Front C-Hubs (MPO-02) Metal Front Suspension Mount (MPO-06) Metal Rear Suspension Mount (MPO-07) Metal Rear Hub Set (MPO-04) Metal Steering Linkage (MPO-11) 2x Metal Shock Stay Mount (MPO-05) 2x Aluminum Shock Absorbers (BS903-004a) I think these fit the BD8e, but I'm not sure Aluminum Steering Knuckle (BS903-111) Metal Wheel Hex Set (MPO-01) Servo Saver Unit (BS903-031) The best package price shipped to 47404 gets the order. -Chizz

17 mm wheel and tire combo
Looking for ideas on changing the stock wheel/tire combo out on the Backdraft 8e. I figure with everyone's knowledge here, there might be some obvious suggestions. So, what other rc's come stock with 17mm wheels that could be purchased and installed on the BD8e without problems. Or, can you give specific examples of aftermarket wheel/tire combos that would also work. I'd like a different wheel look (particularly chrome), and possibly more of a monster truck tire, to install for bashing. Ideas? -Chizz

RE: Strange Symptom (Backdraft 8e)
Thanks for the link to that post. I'll have to tear into it sometime this weekend to actually see what's going on. We've got a foot of snow on the ground right now. Hopefuly that will be gone or it's time for hot laps in the garage to diagnose. On the forward / reverse problem, Adjusting the trim knob will eventually send it forward without touching the throttle, but it won't send it backwards. But, if I use the reverse switch on the transmitter, it will send it into reverse, but not forward. I don't know if it's the receiver or the transmitter at this point. Weird...

RE: ran the backdraft8e this eve. what a surprize
I've had my BD8E for a couple weeks now. The first time I grabbed full throttle, it went for about 20 yards before spinning wildly and starting a massive cart wheel. It probably flipped 10 times or so. Since then, it's happened a couple other times. Nothing broke those times. This weekend, my son and I built a snow ramp for his Himoto and the BD8E. After ramping it for a little while, it did take a nice cart wheel. It came up hobbling and I thought the front hubs broke or something serious happened. Turns out one of the arms of the servo saver broke. That's been the only breakage so far and I made the repair with super glue. After reading some of the posts about the fragileness of these BD8E's, I thought that first cart wheel was going to do this thing in. But I really can't complain yet. It's had a few tumbles and nothing major. I does sound like others though have had some weak points exposed. I'll probably drop the dough to just go ahead and upgrade to some metal parts. At the end of the day, if I throw another 50-60 bucks at this thing, I think it was still a good deal (especially since it came with 2 lipo's, an OK charger and a 2.4 Ghz radio. JMO. I would be pissed though if what you say is true and rolling into curbs is breaking the BD8E.
