RE: Hangar 9 Twist 3D Part II - Thread Continuation
My Twist 40 piled in on Saturday due to the elevator servo arm tab breaking.. I used HS425BB servos with the longer arms. The small plate that the extension sits in has 2 tabs that sheared off.. so essentially it was like a striped servo.. it augered in on the wing and destroyed it.. It was an AWESOME plane though. I had an OS46 on it with an APC 12X4 prop... at points I actually had it climbing in an inverted flat spin... The landing gear area is extremely weak and needs enforcing... I had an engine failure early on with this plane and a regular "firm" landing like any other plane buckled the 2 piece gear outwards.. no damage was done to the wing. The gear area was reinforced... unfortuneatly on its 2nd flight after that it was over... I also swapped out for a sullivan style tailwheel setup as I read stories about the tailwheel snagging in grass and ripping the rudder out... I will probably end up with another one of these shortly.. or a tango 40 which I hear is equally as fun...

EFlite Alpha 450 Aileron and Elevator throws
Im getting ready to finally get out and do some flying.. The manual states a 1/2 inch or 12mm throw from center to center on the aileron and elevator... I can not get this to happen without going into my DX8 and setting the travel adjust to the max 150%... the rudder has more travel easily than the recommended... Wondering if anyone else experienced this and what the solution was?? The aileron control rod is furthest OUT from the servo, and mid position of the horn... Thanks in advance

RE: GP Super Sportster 40 engine install help!
ORIGINAL: Eganwp I had the OS 55ax in my SS 40 with 0 issues and 0 mods to make it fit...
Interesting since the 46 and 55 share the same dimensions.... mine is rammed far forward, and I needed to hack out the triangular pieces of balsa in the front corners of the engine compartment so the carb and throttle arm fit.. also had to sand down the interior to make room for the pushrod clevis to fit... it looks like it will all work, but this ARF has been nothng but trouble.... it will probably fly great though....

RE: GP Super Sportster 40 engine install help!
I think I got it sorted out.. there are 2 triangular shaped blocks that were up front that I essentially had to hack away to make it fit... For my first build ever this thing is a real PITA!! I think anything after this is going to be a joke! [:D]

GP Super Sportster 40 engine install help!
Im going to install either a Super Tigre 45 or OS 46AX in my Super Sportster... question is has anyone succesfully fitted one of these engines in without basically hacking the whole front end of the engine compartment apart to make it fit? The engine right now is sitting right on the forward edge of the mount, the drive hub has barely come through the required 3mm, and I will need to take lots of wood out of the front end so the carb does not sit against the fuse and on the other side I will need to dremel away a good chunk of the front just so the throttle arm will move... I don't even know how I wuld get the super tigre to fit without literally hacking the front end of the plane apart... Anyone else experienced this with this arf, or am I blatantly doing something wrong here....

RE: Parkzone Trojan Canopy
So I changed the fuselage magnet to a 18mm X 3mm earth magnet... there is still no assertive SNAP to the canopy... its holding, but I can still put one hand on it and pull it away .. I doubt it will come off, but I don't like taking chances. If I hold the rear of the canopy over the magnet, the 2 attract... as soon as I hook up the front end, the 2 just aren't meshing the way I would like them too... I tried cutting away some of the foam block at the inside rear of the canopy to see if that was catching on something, but it didn't seem to make much difference.... Im tempted to take the magnet out the canopy and install one of the large earth magnets there as well.. problem there is there will be so much pull I don't know if I'll ever be able to get the canopy off!!!

RE: Parkzone Trojan Canopy
I got some 18mm X 3mm thick ones tonite.. Im going to cut out a larger hole so I can fit it in the fuse with gorilla glue... no way that little one in the canopy won't be able to grab on now!!

Parkzone Trojan Canopy
I just assembled my T28 BNF and noticed that the canopy magnet seems rather weak... in fact I would not even think its donig anything to be honest... compared to my F4F Wildcat a baby could lift the rear off the T28.... I have read about the canopies coming free in flight... whats the general preferred method of keeping this thing attached?? Im thinking about getting 3 more earth magnets and attaching 2 at the rear and one more at the front.. thoughts???

RE: H9 Jackal 50 Prop Jet
Regarding the paint on the cowl... What is causing the lifting of the red paint??? Doesn't the exhaust exit WAY aft of the cowl??? Has anyone tried clearing with Monokote clear coat which is fuel proof???

RE: CERMARK F18 PROP JET
I was looking at getting the F18 or the F16 prop jet.. I called this AM and both model are discontinued now.. I don't know if this is new news to anyone or not.... The only other option for an F18 looks like the VMAR one....

Phoenix Jupiter Build Question
Happy New Year! Has anyone built the Phoenix Jupiter ARF recently? I have a question on the install of the rear stab/tail assembly... Included with the kit is a "block of wood" covered in white Oracover... it is never mentioned ANYWHERE else in the manual besides as a part. Common sense tells me that this block of wood goes in to fill a large gap at the back of the tail section which glues over the stabilzer.... Just want to verify with anyone else who has built this kit before I hit the epoxy on it... Thanks!

RE: H9 Jackal 50 Prop Jet
Well, got my Jackal today for Christmas [:D] I'm planning on the OS55 with Jettstream muffler... wondering if anyone else did this? I was considering the JETT 56 but I don't want to cut the firewall for the tank.... and the extra cost of the Jett is a good chunk of my retracts...

RE: Non Evolution Engine for Jackal
I was considering the 65AX, but Ive heard wont fit the jackal withiout modding it... Im going to stick with a 55AX and Jettstream setup... On a sidenote, is the Evolution tuned pipe the same as the Jettstream muffler.. will it fit the OS 55???

RE: Jackal Engine??
New tank, new lines all installed... the engine ran absolutely flawlessly on its maiden flight... after that it ran like $$$$ The tank is setup in the Alpha as it comes from the factory.... there is no foam wrapped around it. There is a balsa wood brace holding the tank from the back. I will add some though and see how that goes. Unfortuneatly, I am under 2 feet of snow and its minus something cold in Canada, so there won't be any outdoor fun til Mid April...

RE: Jackal Engine??
I think the OS55 is a 9cc if I recall... so the JS-40-TT is the one I require... Im almost tempted to throw one of these on my Alpha 40 as well with the OS46...Trainer on steroids :)

RE: Jackal Engine??
Hi, I will most likely go with the OS 55 and a Jett Stream muffler system. I have already enquired about the Jett .56 and have read it is a great engine, the thing turning me away right now is having to cut the firewall etc to squeeze the bubbleless fuel tank into it... I know the OS will be slower than the Jett, but I also don't want all the other hassles.... On a sidenote, I have heard Jett makes the tuned pipe for Evolution??? Is it the same as there Jett stream, will it fit an OS 55??

Jackal Engine??
Sorry, I posted this in the general forum, but then found the gas engine forums... Im getting a Jackal for my main Christmas gift.. I'll need to cover the engine, retracts etc. Engine wise.. I have had no luck with the Evolution engines... my Alpha 40 TPS engine ran great for he first day and was nothing but a nightmare after that.. dead sticks, surging when running to full power, power lags, bubbles in the lines... basically the same problems everyone else seems to have.. needless to say I am dropping an OS 46 on the Alpha over Christmas... So Jackal wise... what would be a good non Evolution motor to install... it seems they push it with the 60NX and the tuned muffler .. I was thinking an OS55 with a Jett Stream muffler, or even an OS61 with a Jett muffler, or getting a Jett 56 / muffler for it.. Anyone have any suggestions/comments? Thanks, and Merry Christmas! RE: Shipping to Canada
Alot of companies try to take advantage of the border crossing issue... most of them are just too lazy to fill out that one extra piece of paper work to send it across the border... My friend just tried to order a Leo to Canada... next day got an email saying it was "too large" too send and the order was cancelled.. I call total BS as Ive had boxes weighing twice as much and having 30X the value sent from the US to Canada no issues at all...

ARF for a Super Tigre GS40
Good day everyone, Im looking for an ARF kit to pair up with a brand new Super Tigre 40 I got from a friend... Right now I am flying an Alpha 40 trainer, and looking to get into some basic aerobatics and just some more fun agressive flying before moving up to a Warbird later on... My local hobby store gave me 3 recommendations: 1) H9 Pulse XT 2) GP Escpade 3) GP Super Sportster I read alot on the Escapade and was leaning towards it due to the much lower cost... I am aware of the tail wheel issue (Sullivan upgrade) One thing that concerned me was the tail flutter issue... is this a common problem, or is it from full power dive maneuvers.. this would stress any airframe. The Pulse looks/seems like a very nice plane but 2X the cost of the Escapade... I have not done any research on the Super Sportster yet... I am not limited to these options... feel free to comment on other ARFS I can use with that engine.. other options I have looked into are the GP Big Stik 40 and the H9 Super Stick 40... Im looking to do something by the weekend.. By the way my elevation here is 800 feet for the engine... Thanks!
