RE: Futaba servo slow question
That's the one! Only disadvantage is you suck up a P-mix for each function you need slowed which could easily be 3 - flaps, gear and doors...

RE: Futaba servo slow question
ORIGINAL: basimpsn The 8FG Super 14 TX don't have FLAP servo slow function, just a heads up.
Yes it does, sort of ;). You need to use the sailplane programming then the speed functions are available on the flight conditions screens. No slow for anything other than throttle in the airplane programming although I believe there is a workaround involving virtual channels running through the throttle channel mixer which gets seperated from the actual throttle function.

RE: JR Next New Transmitter ?
ORIGINAL: proline8000 My prediction is that the 12X may be JR’s(spectrum designed electronics, software and display in a 10X case) last radio. You see Spectrum coming out with all the same features as the top of the line JRs had. I still use my love my 10X and have not found a replacement yet. I have used a 12X but I don’t like it as a lot of 10X owners don’t either. I have been in the electronics business for over 30 year and a modeler for 40+ and have seen this before. JR is on its way out and Spectrum is in. I will most likely move to a different manufacture . I do love my JR stuff so it will be a tuff.
With Spektrums propensity to issue stuff not ready for prime time requiring multiple recalls that could be a problem!

RE: Durability of BVM glass filled nylon retracts.
Well then you are good to go! Take a look at the new $30 end point adjustable Spektrum retract servo's http://www.bvmjets.com/Pages/spektruma7000.htm I've just ordered a couple myself, very promising with the end poitn adjustability :)

RE: Durability of BVM glass filled nylon retracts.
The metal frames were offered for the T-33 / F-80 which was getting up to 20 pounds, I don't believe those are offered any more. The plastic frames are fine, no problem. Do take a look at your flex plates though. For the mains you want the carbon fibre reinforcement on the bottom side of the plastic flex plate, otherwise the screws will pull out before the plate breaks. The reinforcement kit is $20 or so and comes with 8 new machine screws to hold the gear, you need a 4-40 tap. Well worth it. On the nose there are a few different vintage options that are strong enough. Orignally the flex arms were plastic and only secured at the back where it passes through the bulkhead - these break a lot. For that setup replace with the optional aluminum arms. Later versions had the plastic arms with a screw hole moulded in at the front which got screwed to a hardwood block - that's fine. I think their is also a carbon fibre armed version as well, those are also OK.

RE: Durability of BVM glass filled nylon retracts.
If you have the metal trunions installed then the only other item to be concerned about is the metal plate + the dogbone (for lack of a better description) that connects the arm the servo attaches to to the strut and actually does the lifting. If the dogbone in particular is still plastic, which they were originally, then you might want to replace that piece on the nose gear. On the nose gear in particular that is subject to breakage, much less so on the mains because the loads are different. I've had the newer version with all those pieces out of metal on my Electra for 4 years and never a problem. I've got older versions on other planes and I"ve had an occassional issue with the plastic dogbone on the nose unit. I recently completed a Sabre, I used the old version with plastic trunions on the mains and replaced the nose gear with a new unit. Retracts are holding up fine so far, the Sabre weighs a touch over 15 pounds with batteries, it is electric.
ORIGINAL: srt10 Hope all are ok who don't use Throttle Hold.... I never plug in a Heli without it no matter how small the Heli may be... Anything can wack you if you don't use the proper steps
That's all great once you are sure hold actually holds it OFF, loosen the pinion, take the blades off etc. for the first plug in.

RE: Serious safety warning
FWIW, loosen the set screw on the pinion when plugging in a heli for the first time. One never knows if everything is programmed correctly, you need to hear the motor is responding correctly but it's best the rotors aren't turning that first time...

RE: Futaba 12FG Firmware update
Try formatting on the PC first to wipe out anything on the card, then insert in the Tx and it prompt to reformat. I did it to my 8FG a few days ago with a 2gig card and it wouldn't work until I formatted on the PC, there was data on there already. Also, the instructions said to slide the update switch towards the card slot which didn't work, mine had to be slid the other way.

RE: BVM ELECTRA CRASH WHAT DO YOU THINK HAPPENED?????????
If you add 2 sets of batteries it is more like 10K I know I purchased one. Ron
Current prices - ARF + the most expensive gear + 12S EVF2 + 2 sets of 12S packs + every JR servo, extension, switch, rx pack and regulator listed = just over $7,200. Batteries were more last year but not that much more. Dunno how you got to 10K unless you pay people to build your airplanes for you...

RE: Aggressor II help
Just converted mine to Tam's 100mm fan on 10S 5,000 cells. Flies very well, much better than it did on the original glow setup. Tam has ducting to convert. Just a smidge under 12 pounds RTF. BVM Mechicals fit, BVM "airblue" should fit. If yours has plastic flex arms supporting the nose gear THROW THEM IN THE TRASH and get a pair of aluminum arms BVM sells.

RE: BVM Electra Jet for ICDF
You would need to come up with a much sturdier fan mount, the inlet ID / OD is the same. The EVF doesn't have the cylinder head hump so there might be a clearance issue with the hatch but maybe not. On the thrust tube end of things you'd need an old glass thrust tube with room for the pipe and fitting that in the rear fuse could be an issue as well since it is taller.

Haven't had to pay any duty yet Marc, tell the vendor to use the duty classification for toys, toy airplane, toys and hobbies - something like that. No duties on those types of things in the US.

RE: FOX COMPOSITES Bae HAWK, Build thread
Not trying to argue, the 8411 would certainly do the job. Just making the point that the 4131 is a hefty 90 in / oz analog servo and nothing to sneeze at.

RE: JMP? Starfire need CG pics posted Att. Yellowaircraft
The version of Starfire you have was not really engineered for removeable wings, the rear spar set is going to be a problem as there is no meat back there to secure the spars in the wing. The front brackets are attaching to a thin former which is probably too thin for the loads involved when you take away the glassed wing - fuse joint.
