RE: 4th gen A-10 by Mibo jets
Last weekend I put a camera on one of the pylons for a flight. It turned out kinda cool. I only have about five flights on her so far but I tell you what it is a lot of fun to fly. My only big issue so far is transporting it. I have a sixteen foot trailer but its holding it down thats the issue. Its built so light that its hard to know where you dare put the pressure. I made a crutch to carry it on but it put a tiny cack in the fuse where it contacts it so I have redone it with an excessive amount of padding and a bar that goes through the wing tube hole and supports it from there too. If it works good next time I wil post a pic. Has anyone else had issues getting theres to the field? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aGKglwDlFaw&feature=youtube_gdata_player

RE: Gear Problem on Landing What Would You Do????
I have to butt in here and say that I was there when this problem happened. And I was really impressed how you handled it. He came in a little hotter than I think I would have then like a miracle he barely touched the left side main down which caused just enough of a bump that the right side bacame unstuck at the last millisecond and shot down just as the bird settled on the nose and mains. Good job! I thought you should hit Las Vegas on you're way home while you're luck is still hot!

RE: WHY GO EDF IF YOU HAVE TURBINES?
That's what makes this such a great hobby! There is always some aspect of it people can go with. Turbines,Electric, Glow, Gas you name it. If you get bored there's always a different angle to explore.

RE: Royal Spektrum PowerBox with Built-in 12-Ch Receiver
I have one in a mibo A10 and I love it! I also have one in a fej f14 and while I haven't flown it yet I am happy with how easy it was to setup.

RE: Has the extreme Heat stopped your flying
Its not so much heat for me in Utah right now (90s) but the fire danger is pretty scary. The only turbine flying I have been doing is out on the Salt flats. With half the state in flames I dont want the liability till we get some rain.

RE: 4th gen A-10 by Mibo jets
I usually pump it up to 100 to 105. I am running Dreamworks airline. I didn't know you could pump it up that high and not have problems elsewhere. I will give it a shot and see if I am happier with it at higher pressures.

RE: 4th gen A-10 by Mibo jets
I installed a single valve UP2 (?) and it doesn't seem to be able to reliably lift the gear on the ground let alone with air holding it open. It was not an issue with the first couple flights because I never intended to put the gear up for them but it went so well I want to make sure I have no doubts on my next time out.

RE: 4th gen A-10 by Mibo jets
I finally put the first couple of flights on my mibo! Wow what a fun bird! Ya gotta love this hobby.I am curious what kind of retract valves everybodys using with success on their "Hawgs". I am torn between sending my gear to get electrified or redoing my air system with a robart valve per leg. Any input?

RE: Landing at 5400 ft
George is correct it is not apocalyptic but it is ...different on landing. I have noticed that the edf stuff is the biggest difference. I guess not as much air to move.

RE: Landing at 5400 ft
I've heard it joked about that high altitude low air density flying is what separates the men from the boys, my response is " No it's what separates the men from the fish" lol

RE: Landing at 5400 ft
It's a whole other world flying at high altitudes. I know that when I go to California or somewhere I almost want to flinch when I see guys turning on final because I am used to falling out of the sky at such slow speeds. I guess if it was easy everybody would be doing it. Thanks for sharing.

RE: 4th gen A-10 by Mibo jets
I haven't weighed it yet but I really didn't get too carried away adding anything heavy. But even with No fuel she squats pretty good. Then when I add fuel the mains go low rider on me then when i throttle up it wants to sink the nose. So i have to do something about it. I have those springs you sent me. Is there any diagrams or info on taking the struts apart? And how much oil do you add?

RE: 4th gen A-10 by Mibo jets
Gen 4, Beotecs. I am not sure if they differ from the others or not. I started working on disassembling them but I was scarring up the collar and I wanted to make sure that there is no secret way to do it more efficiently.

RE: 4th gen A-10 by Mibo jets
Great job! And congratulations. Does anyone know any magic tricks on taking the struts apart to change the springs? I wanted to see how she looked before changing them but it squats down pretty dramatically so I guess I have some work to do!

RE: Shuttle solid booster ride up and back
Awesome Video. My Dad worked for Thiokol for thirty years part of the time working on the shuttle booster program. He would have loved seeing this video. It's pretty sad out there now they have laid off and downsized a huge chunk of people in the past few years. I remember as a kid they would bolt them to the ground and test fire them, amazing the power!

Thanks Roger! This has been a fun plane to build the quality is top notch. I want to get a few flights on it first then add some more detailing to the cockpit like mirrors and handles.

RE: 4th gen A-10 by Mibo jets
WooHooo. I got to start my baby up tonight for the first time. Its always a relief to not have any fuel leaks or catastrophic failures! The A10 has always been my wifes favorite so I put her name on the side. I also motorized the laura croft pilot head to turn with the rudder, Then the arms move the stick with the ailerons. Also I affixed a bomb drop to the inner pylons. I plan on having alot of fun with this plane.

RE: Need help with GP giant big stick with DLE 55
It really is a fun plane to fly you will enjoy it. It should fly great even with the weight. At one time I had put my saito 325 radial on mine( it handled the weight but gutless as can be).( You shouldn't have that problem though!). Good luck on the maiden!

RE: Need help with GP giant big stick with DLE 55
Holy smokes! Dle 55! I have a ys 170 in mine and even at my 4600ft elevation swinging an 18/10 prop I can hover at half throttle. That's alot of motor for that plane.

This is the setup I have in my YA F15 and I am pretty happy with it. It may seem daunting but once you get rolling on it it's not that hard to do.
