RE: Tire balancer - good find
ORIGINAL: AutoXMan squirrel's youtube video is pretty spot on. You can also use lead strips.
Here is the main thing that is totally untrue. "When the 0 degree mark reaches the 90 degree mark that now it's balanced" No, now his 90 degree mark is the heavy spot. Also he doesn't say that you need to run the tires for about 5 minutes to get the foams settled when you really need to or else the tires will get really out of balance.
Don't listen to squirrel's youtube video on tire balancing. He has it all wrong. The dubro balancer is the best IMO. It will work with 1/8 buggy or truggy and 1/10 and smaller. Might work with monster trucks but didn't on my Muggy tires.

RE: glo plug prolems
DO NOT get the OS plugs. Their taper is different and will ruin the head button. Say you got an engine without a glow plug, you could run an OS IF you never switch back. OS's also have a shorter body which means you won't get the right compression/performance with OS plugs.

Dremel cutoff tool, make sure you get a nice clean cut so the screwdriver will grip. If it is back and forth play, it is fine. If the outdrives have a slot in them from being worn by the driveshafts, then you might want to replace.

RE: Milestone RC Park in Riverside CA
How has the attence been since the JBRL race got you on the map? It is stilll the same layout? PS: Next time you build the track use gas powered dirt compactor's instead of rollers filled with water. During the end of the JBRL the track was getting almost undriveable because you didn't pack the takeoff of the over-under jump hard enough, and on a side note there was alot of track cutting becasue of the layout.

RE: MID Range Bog?
Yes the engines werent really designed to be smooth. You should drive a nitro like an on/off switch and blip it alot. Seems like you need to readjust the LSN and HSN, and if that doesn't help, then you adjust the LSN. Richer first, if that makes it worse, lean it. MSN adjust is a very slight adjustment and you will barely notice any performance increase, only on a track where you get 100% traction will you notice it a little.

RE: Engine Break-in during Cold Weather
That's weird, from what I have found is TRX engines run very hot, like 270 optimum. 300 feet will be plenty, and if you can't get up to top speed (very small chance) you can always break it in on a car stand. Under 200 degrees and the sleeve doesn't expand. You want 200+. As long as you are heating it with a heat gun/hair dryer and have aaluminum foil on the head, there is no need to stress. Just heat it up and put foil on it whenever it is cold, then take it off when the engine is still rich and is at 290 or so.

RE: Glow starter
ORIGINAL: chapi93 I've had it for two weeks and idled two tanks through it at their factory settings (which is upper air at 3 out and the lower air at 2 1/2 out and only had it on the road once for about one tank. I just had it  out on a stand today trying to dial it in keeping the idle just enough so the tires won't spin like the other guy mentioned. It bogs when i give it throttle then comes out of it. I adjust little by little but can't seem to get a happy medium.
You want to lean the LSN to take away the low end bog you are experiencing if there is alot of smoke coming out of the pipe when it bogs. I adjust LSN first but that is just me. You will want to do at least 6 tanks for breakin before you go Wide Open Throttle (WOT). Leaning the LSN will make the idle higher you you would want to lower the idle screw. Try the pinch test as mentioned and adjust with LSN. All the idle goes is adjust the carb opening, it does not adjust fuel mixture while the LSN does and adjusts performance with idling and acceleration.

RE: Engine Break-in during Cold Weather
What you will want to do is get aaluminum foil or a sock and wrap it around the heat so all the head in the engine stays in and preheat the engine with a heat gun for the first 10 tanks or so or until the weather gets warmer so the engine isn't extremely cold when you start it. You can use a hair dryer as a last option if you dont have a heat gun, but a heat gun will heat it up higher. The break in temps should be around 200, so preheat the engine good, put the sock and aluminum foil on the head and engine block, and even lean out the LSN to get the temps higher during breakin.
ORIGINAL: XXT-CRer hey xxxnt, you wouldnt happen to know if they ever made those for the xxt ?
RR doesnt make aluminum gears for the XX-T. My best advice for the diff problem is put in all new diff parts and break it in properly, and get someone at a track or something that knows how to properly adjust a diff. You want it a little tighter then snug, but not too tight where you would break the diff screw (happen to me once on my nt)

You just need to practice and try different setups and see what you like best and feel most comfortable with. But practice first unless you feel that the car is undriveable then make setup adjustments.

1. Not worth it 2. If the thread and size are correct, no reason why you couldn't use it. Blue is such an AE thing! [:)] 3. Fuel filter, adds about 30 seconds of runtime and gives a little more protection from dirt before going into engine. They are good to have but not necessary.

RE: new remote
ORIGINAL: xxxnt236 ya. but the one bad review ive heard about the airtonics is that the batteries goo veryyy fast. like 45minutes one man said
They do burn fast. On my DX3S I have about 10 hours on my radio (that is what the internal timer says and I reset it every time I put in new batteries) and the voltage is at 5.2 now, new it is about 6.0v. So I still have another 10 hours runtime on it, and remember, the 2S and 3S use only 4 AA's so the radio is much lighter than the heavy 8AA radios.

Bowties would be good for really soft and loomy dirt track that are unpacked, for for hard clay tracks you would want something like Losi Taper Pins, Panther Switch, or JConcepts Bar Codes for something really hardpack but Proline Holeshots or even better JConcepts Double Dee's are a safe bet.

RE: Are you scared of nitro engines?
Nitro engines are getting more and more reliable. Think at how finicky engines are in the 90's and then look at some engines like the OS V-Spec which are super easy to tune and are reliable enough so that even if the tune isnt great it will still get you thru a run without a flameout.
