RE: THE UNOFFICIAL SHOCKWAVE 36 THREAD
Nosreme, Now that you have adjusted the high end needle, now you need to adjust the low end needle. Make adjustments in 1/8th nudges, small turns. Just remember "turning in" is lean or less nitro, "turning out" is rich or more nitro. If she transisions from low throttle to high throttle smoothly, then turn-in your high end needle 1/8th turn, then try her out.[8D]

RE: THE UNOFFICIAL SHOCKWAVE 36 THREAD
Hello Will, Yes, still running SW36 stock, no upgrades. She is fast. Still running stock running gear. If the motor is new, suggest getting an electric fuel pump and break her in by running water through the head of the motor without going to the pond and having to go after her if she stalls. Read the manual and grease the prop shaft before starting and make sure the shaft and the motor line up. [8D]

RE: exeed 1/16 scale nitros any good?
Hey, I have 2 Exceed RC 1/16th scale vehicles from Nitro RCX. I have the Blur buggy and the Thunderfire monster truck. I will agree these vehicles with the .06 nitros are touchy little pains. But if you take the time to set them up, you can enjoy them. I have worked with these vehicles and have enjoyed messing with them. The small nitros are tempermental, but can be adjusted to run really well for what they are. Mine are running about 40 MPH @ 200 degrees. They are not fast, but they gett attention at the track.[:D][8D][:)]

RE: Team VTX MB1 buggy
Hey, I've got the VTX-MST1 nitro. I bought it from the website you have posted. I am having problems with the nitro .06 motor. First thing was the exhaust pipe, had to line it up. Second thing, had to replace the fuel tank, it leaked. Third thing, had to replace head gsaket, it was too thick. Now, I am playing with the carb to set the high and low end. The motor at idle is running to hot. I am in the process of finding out some info on this motor and will post as soon as I find things out. Oh, I have also rebuilt the carb with O-rings and cleaning. Still running hot. I have solved the compression problem, but the factory settings for the needles is a concern. I'll keep working with it[:(][&o][;)][8D]

better dogbones or CVD's for wheels
Hi guys, I would like to find a good source for dogbone main drives and axles. I have elecric and nitro vehicles. I would like to upgrade the reciever cups and dogbones for the main drive and wheels. Anybody know of a supplier that would handle good heavy duty items that I have mentioned? I would appreciate any and all suggestions.[8D]

RE: Official HPI MT2 Thread
hello topflite, When adjusting the carb for an idle, I did what the book said to do for breaking in. When I set the truck on the block and started it, I adjusted the idle screw till the wheels were not moving or just starting to turn. I had tested my brakes before I started the truck by setting my servos to center then using the adjuster to set them to stop the truck just by pushing the truck across the floor without engine power. Then I proceeded with break-in proceedure. Just something I did to my MT2.

RE: Exceed RC spare parts - ahhhhhhh
hi guys, In responce to parts for vehicles purchased from NitroRCX, try redcat site and R U Faster site for parts. Same stuff under different names. Match your vehicle to what they sell, then find your parts. For example: ExceedRC Rally 8 short course truck is the same as a Redcat Vortex SS. I have purchased up-grade parts this way and the parts fit and work.[8D] If you go to NitroRCX site, look for your scale, 1/16th, 1/10th, etc. Place your pointer on the scale and a sub menue should come up. Find your vehicle or spare parts. If a list does not come up, they don"t have the parts. Hope this helps[:D]

RE: nitrorcx and the exceed line
Hi Guys, I have three Exceed RC products. A 1/16th scale buggy w/ .07 nitro, 1/10th scale short course Rally 8 w/ .18 nitro, and from XHeli a Madhawk 300 helli. On the nitro ExceedRC products, I have been having good success with these vehicles that were purchased from NitroRCX. I have checked Exceed and NitroRCX for parts from time-to-time and have found that the Redcat site and R U Faster site have had the parts I have wanted. I have wanted up-grade parts like pipes, wheels, driveline parts, and so on. The Redcat site and the R U Faster site have the parts for most of the 1/10th scale stuff and the 1/16th scale stuff. I look at the models they offer, then associate it with what I have. Names are different, but they are the same in some types of vehicles. With the XHeli, It flew well right out of the box. No problems there. Guys, I know that I check my stuff before I run it. I hope you do the same.[:D]

Hi guys, I would like to know if any of you have had the hatch nut break clean in the leadnut under the hatch, if you possibly know about that. I am inquiring about a replacement for that. I have called Horizon Hobbies and they are of no help. I might try drilling it out and re-tap, but before I go through that much trouble, I would like to know if you might know of a supplier that might have this item. I have subscribed to this thread, so please let me know of your suggestions. Thanks, Van

Hi Guys, Chriscraft here with the PZ spits modifided. After installing the parts, after getting the pinion gear, I checked the CG and it seemed to be the same as before. So, I took her out for a maiden flight after modifications. WOW! What a change of power! She pratically flew out of my hand! Took her up high to check how she was flying and trimmed her out. She handles great and she flys steady

RE: Parkzone Supermarine Spitfire Mk11B
Hi Guys, I knew there was a forum for boats, but I have gotten into airplanes as of late and I have found a new interest. I have 6 planes now and one of them was a recent purchase, the spit from PZ. When I took her out for the first flight, after checking flight surfaces and such, she launched very easily and went straight out from launch. While flying I noticed that the elevator responce was not responsive, but she flew well and landed good. Upon inspection of the servo for the elevator, the arm seemed short. So I went to the LHS and purchased another servo with a longer arm. This improved the flight of my spit for better elevator control. I have read most of this forum to find out about up-grades and I have chosen the E-flight 2000Kv motor with the 40 amp ESC and RR 32p 12t pinion. I have changed the reciever to a Spectrum AR500 with a 2100 11.1v 20c lipo. Once I get the pinion gear, I am going to see how she does. I am into the warbirds and some of my planes are of that type. Please keep this forum going. It has helped me for info on up-grades. Now about those retracts..., let us know where or who has them. Thanks.[8D][;)]

RE: formula fastech nitro
Hey Bigcam, I was reading about your "possesed boat". Just kidding about the boat, of course. When I am removing the flex cable for greasing, this is what I do, and I am just giving you experience of how I go about doing it. I loosen the screws in the flex shaft first to remove the prop shaft. Then I loosen the strut to lift it out the way. I have loosened the collet before, and the flexshaft slips out with just alittle effort. I do the reverse after I grease the flexshaft, aligning the strut to the flexshaft by using the prop shaft to make the alignment, then tighten the prop shaft to the flexshaft, putting the washers on and checking spacing. Just checking about something, have you looked at the shaft itself to see if there might be a shinny area where it might be slipping? check where it is inserted in the collet, check the adapter for the prop shaft to make sure it is attached well. Just trying to help ya,man. Stuff like this is a b___h and it can make anyone MAD. It will be OK. Keep at it. I had to learn to check the alignment of my flexshaft by breaking one when I thought it might be tunning.[:@][:'(][:(][&:][8D] P.S. grease the strut for the prop shaft, hole on strut is there

RE: formula fastech nitro
Hi guys' Got my .18 Dynamite mounted in the Fastech, no problem. It mounted right to the motor mount. Had to adjust the angle of the motor itself becuase of the angle to the flexshaft tube. Did not make any adjustments to the strut or tabs or turn fins. Test fired and checked flexshaft rotation. with radio check and good batteries, took her out to the pond. I had to adjust the needles a bit becuase she wanted to "bog" when I hit the throttle. After that she ran great and steady. Took walky-talkys with us and I got my friend to get on the road by the pond and try to run 50 MPH with the car. I called out to him and he started down the road when I was coming around. He was running 50 MPH on the road and Fastech was keeping up with the car. She was running 50 MPH with the .18 Dynamite in her. I think I will stick with this engine and "dress her out with accessories" like some colored tubing, exhuast pipe, colored cover for the tigerdrive, etc This boat is a fun boat now and I like the way it is running now.[8D][8D][8D][;)]

RE: formula fastech nitro
Hi guys, I thought about trying my .18 Dynamite in the Fastech. I am going to remove it from my Hydro and mount it to the motor mounts in the Fastech. I looked at both the boats, side by side, and it looks like the swap should not be too hard to do, but that depends. Since she is trimmed out for the .15 Dynamite, lets see what she can do with a broken in .18. Oh, if you guys are having problems with water being spun up into the engine compartment, try using Motor saver kit that has carburetor extentions for 10mm carbs. Then get the air cleaner from Bru-Line. I got the fine filter no. 204. I have been having water getting in from the flex drive shaft and getting in the venturi or carb. I use this to stop this problem. I'll grease the hell out of the shaft and it still comes in. You can get these from Tower Hobbies, I believe.[:D][8D][;)]

RE: looking for first boat
Hi FP, Now Big Cap is a racer and knows or has experience with types of boats he likes. Me, if it is electric or nitro,I will check it out to see if it might be something I might buy. Electrics have an up-side to be alittle less maintenance than nitros and have fast responce and speed right out of the box. Nitros require more in the way of tunning and adjustments to make them perform the way the owner thinks it should. I have 2 boats that are alike but different from the power on each. Both boats are "cats". One electric and one nitro. A friend and myself ran these boats side by side to see which one was faster. The electric ran good and the nitro ran equally as well, they were running side by side. But the electric boat quit because the batteries were dead and the nitro was still running. It is up to you to decide what you might enjoy and of course, your wallet. I have seen the Aquacraft u-18 Hydro nitro run and that is a quick boat "out of the box" [;)][:D][8D]

Hi guys, Got my prop from Tower Hobbies. Ordered on-line. Got to me in about a week. Since the prop is alittle larger, she wanted to "bog" or shut down from the load. I had to open the low end and the high end to be able to have a starting point to tune from. I adjusted the high end to get good tune for take off and run. [sm=thumbs_up.gif][sm=bananahead.gif][:D]

RE: looking for first boat
Hi FP, I am guessing here. You say that you're looking for a kit to build or a ready-to-run? Dumas boat have kits for boat builders and some models can have small nitros mounted to them. You might be able to find a boat on E-Bay that is ready to run, if you would like to start there. Check your local hobby shop to get an idea of what you may want to build and check Tower hobbies for boats also. Tower offers Aquacraft boats that are ready to run and also check this site's forum for boats for sale. Just a few suggestions for you. I want to build my own boat myself and I am serching the web for suppliers of kits and pricing. I just looked at Dumas boats on this site (Tower) and they offer kits. Just another suggestion, kits are fine if you want to go that way. But you have to buy a radio and reciver, servos and engine which could be more expensive by a total price than buying a new ready to run where you get evrything to run "out of the box". Tower Hobbies offers a ready to run boat that is nitro. It is an Aquacraft Super Bee 27 for 279.99 that is ready to run or RTR. Or try E-Bay for used boats or kits. You might find a larger boat for the price range of 300.00. Just trying to help you out. [:D][8D]

RE: formula fastech nitro
Hi guys, WOW!!!! I almost flipped my boat after tunning her. She was jumping out the water on take-off and dancing on the turn fins when I opened her up. The 3 blade Aquacraft prop throws a hell of a rooster tail and she is "on pipe". This is just to wild for me so I spent time de-tunning her. I am running a no. 8 O.S. plug with the Aquacraft 40 x 57 3 blade brass. I got her running with a head temp of about 197 degrees. She was getting too much air under the bow which made her dance, so I tried adjusting the strut angle down just a millimeter and adjust the trim tabs down a millimeter. She didn't dance and ran with the back third of the hull on the top of the water. The prop is not cavitating (grabbing air) and throwing a roostertail. I don' have a GPS, but where I run ther is a road close to the pondand the speed limit is 45mph on that stretch of road. Cars going by are running about 45-50mph and my boat can keep up with the cars. So ,just a guess, she might be running 45MPH. I can handle that speed for running so I like how she runs. Oh, by the way, tilt the rudder back for better handling and less drag. [sm=thumbs_up.gif][sm=spinnyeyes.gif][sm=bananahead.gif][8D]

RE: formula fastech nitro
Hi guys, Sometimes I jump on the internet just to find out about rc stuff, especially boats. I looked at a site that sold head gaskets in different thickness. These are offered to lower or increase compression. I have replaced my head gasket from an .002 to a .001, and I replaced the 2 blade to a 3 blade. She is now jumping up on plane quicker, but I need to adjust high speed and low speed needles for good performance. She sounds just a little bit different like there might be some untouched power. I'll take her out and spend some time running and tuning, but she is jumping out the hole quick!!!! [sm=thumbs_up.gif][&:][8D][:D]

RE: formula fastech nitro
Hi Bigcam, Looking at the engine on an exploded view, the hub is mounted to the crankshaft with a nut to hold that on. The flywheel should slide on the shaft against the hub, then the collet nut should tighten against the flywheel. Now, if you are getting a new collet, which will include the collet nut, and that does not tighten against the flywheel, try trimming the crankshaft so the collet nut tightens to the flywheel or add some washers between the collet nut and the flywheel. RE: Blackjack 26SS???
Hi minkis815, ok, I am no pro at this and I have vehicles as well as boats. Try using a hot plug, like an O.S. 8 or a McCoy 8. The head is being cooled by water flowing over the head. This is taking away the heat, so you need to compensate for this. Try that and tweak your low end just a bit, You know which way for lean. And like a buggy, watch the pipe so you see a bluish haze behind the boat.[:D][:D][8D]

RE: formula fastech nitro
Hi bigcam, I have pulled out my manual for the .15 Dynamite engine. The diagram shows the fly wheel being held on by a nut. now this nut maybe behind the flywheel and the collet nut holds it to the shaft, or this nut is in front of the flywheel. I have looked on the flywheel of my boat and there are no set screws in the flywheel itself. Looking down through the holes, I see threads, so this tells me that the flywheel is mounted to a hub on the motor and the collet nut is holding the flywheel to the hub. This is like an airplane prop mounted to the engine directly, if you understand what I am trying to help you with. The collet I had to replace was on my Blackjack 26 with the .15 engine. The hub is a type of plate with groves cut in it to grip the flywheel so that it works with the engine shaft. Just a suggestion, Horizon Hobby is the maker of this boat. See if your LHS can get you a diagram for the .15S Dynamite water cooled engine. This could help you with some parts that seem difficult to define or tell what they are. ( I don't know if you have the parts breakdown of your engine)[:D][:D][8D]

RE: formula fastech nitro
Hi bigcam, I do not like to hear about troubles that people are having with their boats. About your ongoing collet problem, from my own experience, order a new collet and I hope you got your flywheel to lock to your engine shaft. I had a flex shaft slipping problem on one of my nitros and found a tooth or gripper had failed becaused I had over-tightened the collet. So, after getting another collet, the boat ran good and I had to re-adjust my needles because of the load of being on the water. Don,t give up on her. Look at this as a learning experience. On a positive note, you fixed the fuel feed problem and the throttle issue. Now, order a collet, then check your flex shaft alignment, when you re-install and also check your strut to see if it can be moved towards the front to give you alittle more for the collet to grab. Just a comparison from my boat towards yours, my flex shaft goes all the way into my collet when I grease it after a run. Again, stay with it. The rewards will be fun with this boat. I got my 3 blade for mine and it screams in the straights and kicks a rooster tail like my shockwave 36. Good luck. P.S. The fuel leak on my boat was a little bit too much plastic on the nipple of the tank. I trimmed it off and placed an 1/8th inch of fuel line over the line that is attached to the nipple of the tank. Stopped my leak.[:D][;)][8D]
