RE: Another "Screamin Demon" Delta build
What size batteries will you be using? I am considering this plane for an electric motor I have laying around.

RE: (Something Fast?) Delta Build Thread
Thanks combatpigg. I've scratch built before and this looks simple. I will also be using an electric motor, so will need to custom build the engine, esc, and battery mounts. It looks like a fun project.

I never heard from Mike, so I disputed the transaction through PP and recovered my funds. I still would like to get a Screamin' Demon but will wait until I get a message from Mike that he has kits in stock and is able to send them out.

RE: Copperhead Venom 45
My Venom 45 ran very well until the plane was mid-aired. When the engine hit the ground, the case broke into many pieces. As long as your crank holds up you will have a good engine. If you run the plane into anything or have a prop strike you may be done.

RE: Copperhead Venom 45
Terry, I haven't had a Venom for years now, but you just described what I just went through with my DLE55 to a T. With the DLE, I have access to all new parts and ended up replacing the entire rotating assembly. The new wrist pin bearing had the same play as the 1 year old set and replacing everything made the rattle even worse. I didn't replace the bearings initially as they felt fine - no play and smooth. After replacing everything else, I had no choice but to replace the bearings and now I have a "new" rattle-free engine. I pulled seals off the rear bearing at there is a rough area of the bearing that was hard to feel initially. My guess is, if you replace the bearings, you will be good to go and your wrist pin is OK. Bearings are fairly standard, so you should be able to measure them and order replacements from a place like RC-bearings.com.

RE: Sooooo, you need some Balsa?
I have done business with Clay a few times and always got exactly the balsa I wanted. His prices are competitive and he has fast shipping. I won't even think about going to one of the big Balsa-Mart style suppliers anymore. As far as ordering a little extra wood, I always do that anyway to cover my mistakes and I really haven't recieved anymore unusable wood from Clay than I have from other suppliers. Give The Balsa Store a try - you may never go back to the other suppliers either[sm=thumbup.gif] BTW - if you order from his site, you really need to try one of his Sbach profile kits. You won't find a less expensive kit or an airplane that looks or flies better!

RE: OMP 80" Fusion
OK Mike, how did you know about the hangar flying and airplane noises - do you have a hidden camera around my building room?[sm=what_smile.gif] I didn't get much done last night, but my glue is resupplied, so I completed the tail pieces. I hope to have the second wing done tomorrow and tackle the fuse this weekend. You'll notice the tail crutch in the first pictures - it mounts in the fuselage foam and hold the stab and servos. No planning were to put the servos and then digging out foam - just build the parts. The elevators and rudder are mostly ready for sanding as well. Not too bad for a few evenings work!

My Extra 260 profile reached an untimely end today. In the course of falling to the ground after a mid-air, the motor took most of the impact. I am trying to aquire some new parts. If unsuccessful, I may have some parts someone else could use. Chumley

RE: Binding issues with AR9000
It definately looks like a link up problem. As I have to turn them both on, the airplane and radio are within arms length. I will try keeping them farther apart. I still plan on putting an AR7000 into an existing model, so I need another receiver anyway. I will put the new receiver into this model to see if it makes any difference and let you know. Brian

RE: Binding issues with AR9000
Brian, it sounds like you might be pressing the bind button on the TX while powering it on, which if that is the case you will need to rebind the receiver because the transmitter will no longer link to the receiver until it has been bound again. It is not possible for the receiver to lose it's binding code.
Thanks for the replies, but I'm not pushing the bind button when I turn on the transmitter. This occurs at my house and at the field when I was the only one with 2.4, so I really don't think it was having a hard time finding two clear frequencies. I am trying to get my hands on another reciever to see if it still happens. At least I will know if it's a problem with the transmitter or the reciever. Brian

RE: Binding issues with AR9000
I have a similiar issue. My DX-7 sometimes won't connect with the receiver (AR7000). I'll bind the radio and everything works. Then, I'll turn off the radio and airplane and when I turn it back on, sometimes nothing moves and the reciever lights are out. I can bind it again and get everything back, but could it lose connection during flight? Is there something wrong? Please advise. Brian
