RE: Scorpion or align esc?
Personally I'd go for a Castle Phoenix 45 ESC. I love the flexibility that the CastleLink provides. I can program in the exact headspeed that I want and a whole bunch of other features. I've used the Align ESC's and they are ok. Never had an experience with the Scorpion ESC.

Just curious, did either one of you contact Horizon? I just added a screw to the back of mine. Even with the nose heavy flying right out of the box is was a good flyer for me. You both obviously got the lemons of the batch.

Jett, are you using the AA batteries that came with the plane? Those are good for a few charges then they die. If you haven't already, try some fresh alkalines like duracell or whatever.

RE: NEW-ParkZone Sukhoi Su-26M-OFFICIAL THREAD
I was just looking over the videos on Horizons website as well as the description. I didn't see anything about them advertising this model as 3D capable. From the videos and their descriptions its safe to say that it's aerobatic. It's also not ideal for low stick time pilots. If you want it to do 3D then that's when the mods come into play. Or just get the mini 4-site when it comes out.

RE: NEW-ParkZone Sukhoi Su-26M-OFFICIAL THREAD
Try replacing the stock prop with the GWS 5043. You can either use Gws's prop adapter or the 1.5mm prop adapter from e-flite like I did. The difference is night and day. It did make hovering just a little bit easier. It doesn't really knife edge all that well, but it'll crab walk on its side fine. How much expo do you guys have programmed in it? I'm using about 50% and it feels like some of my bigger planes, but responds faster. I also don't remember them advertising this as a full fledged 3D machine. I remember seeing it flown on their videos and described as an aerobatic plane. There is another thread on RCU in the micro flyer forum. Those guys have done just about every upgrade imaginable.

RE: Ultralite servo leads too lite?
Not really such thing as too light for an airplane, especially when it's rated for HS-55 servos. You should be safe with these. If you were flying a 30% plane with high torque digitals, then it would be a problem.

RE: Lipo charging
I'm sure it would be ideal to charge it the morning of or the night before a flying session. I usually charge mine as the week goes by and then use them all on Sunday when I go to the field. Some of my packs I've had for quite a long time and have not noticed any adverse effects from doing this. I'm sure someone else can chime in if they know more about it. If you leave them charged for months at a time, then you'll definitely have an issue.

RE: Got a hurricane 550 kit, Do i need to switch to DSM2
Up until this last summer I was using a DX6 with AR6000 receiver in my Hurri 550 with no ill effects. I mounted my receiver in the very back bottom of the frame and made sure the wires were outside of the frame. The thing you have to remember about a helicopter is that you typically don't fly it far out like you would with a fixed wing model, so reception isn't really a problem.

RE: My Hurricane 550's first Hover
Shouldn't need a motor upgrade for the 550mm blades. I've used the stock 800kv motor with the 14 and 15 tooth pinions. It is definitely more stable. I ended up using 500mm CF blades to get more 3D performance with the same motor setup

RE: jr500ummm?!?!?! weird i dont understand this?!?!?!?! help
You're getting that wag because the battery can't keep up with the amp draw the same as it did when it was new. The head speed is gonna fluctuate and the visible result is going to be the tail wag you're describing.

RE: My Hurricane 550's first Hover
It's good to see that people are still flying the Hurricane. After I got my 600 it's been on the shelf and I only drag it out when I'm trying to sell it to someone. Now I'm considering buying a speed controller, gyro and rudder servo that were stripped out of it for other projects and getting it back in the air. It's nowhere near being a T-Rex 600, but it's such a great heli.

RE: Extra MX by Precision Aerobatics
Well I finally got the chance to maiden it this weekend. I was a little nervous before the first flight. Before I got the throttle to half stick, it was already in the air. I did a circuit over the field and noticed I had the battery a little too far back. After about 1 minute into the flight I decided to go in for some light 3d. This thing is great. Hovers were locked in, elevators were slow and graceful, and blenders were smooth. Even being tail heavy it flew and tracked great. After 5 minutes I decided to land. The approach was sweet and it didn't even bounce on the landing. When I pulled the battery out and charged it, I only put 1100 mah back into it. Good job with this one, PA. Equipment used was the- Thrust 50 and Quantum 65 HS82MG ailerons HS85BB rudder HS85MG elevator Hyperion VX 22.2v 6s 2600 mah 35C Vox 15x7 prop

RE: Extra MX by Precision Aerobatics
Just started building mine and should have the maiden this weekend. Looks fast just sitting in the livingroom. Dan, what servos are you using. A guy I know had some issues with the Hi-Tec servos that were recommended for it. I was curious to see if he had a bad elevator servo or if it was in fact under powered. Thanks in advance.

I've got their semi scale (non profile) 47" Yak 54. That's about the same setup I'm using minus the batteries. I'm using thunder powers new pro series battery 2250 mah 3 cell 30C rated. The power 25 is about equivalent to what I'm using, the Hyperion 3025-8. You've got a good setup.

RE: How do I know my heli is too heavy?
I run it for 5 minutes and put back 1200 mah or so. It'll easily run longer. I also had a heat problem before so I removed all of the windows for better air circulation.

RE: whats a good electric rc plane for beginner?
Don't forget the trusty GWS Slow Stick. I'm teaching my girlfriend how to fly with it. Super easy plane to fly and takes tons of abuse. The only drawback is that it looks like a stick with wings.

RE: How do I know my heli is too heavy?
It should be able to take a little more weight. I've also got the green 500E Fuselage, Align 3550 kv 430L motor, castle 35, TP 3300 mah 3cell and I have 4 Marine action figures sitting on bench seats on the outside of the helicopter. Not sure of the weight, but it flies great. Not sure of a formula for the max weight. I just make sure it's light enough to get off the ground.

RE: 500 vs. 600
I run the 600 ESP for 4 minutes of 3D but only use 60% of the battery. You can run it for 5 or 6 if you wanted to, but I don't wanna wait extra time between charges. This is about standard for most electric helis running a high head speed. between the 500 and the 600 it just comes down to how much you wanna spend.
