RE: Simjet 2300 start up issue
Hi there, Thanks for your reply. If it was the pump why do you think that the engine being hot or cold would affect it? I had a PM: Hi Phil What type of ECU do you have, it sounds like a temp prope problem Best Kim Former simjet worker However I have PMd Kim a few times with no reply. Does anyone here know how to test the temp probe? And or change it? My ecu has AU 303 FADEC in large on it....

Mirce, Glassing will not help, the foam will always dent. The Zero can take the weight. I would use balsa and just possibly sand the inside a little. Very best regards Greg Anixter Scottsdale AZ

Simjet 2300 start up issue
Hi there, I have a second hand simjet 2300 that has developed a start problem. The engine always starts first time when its cold, but after one flight if you try to re-start when the engine changes from gas to fuel, the temp goes to 999c, no fuel goes in and the start up fails. Let the engine cool for a while and it will start fine. Does this sound like a fuel issue? Pump? Solenoid? Is there anyway to test this with the GSU? People at my club suggest that the temp going to 999c means there is no fuel going in, and its just running on the gas? Or you think start up setup? I assume you are suppose to be able to re-start these turbines straight away and fly repeatedly? Thanks in advance. Phil

Mirce, You have done a wonderful job on this plane. Congratulations! You are a very fast and talented builder. I really expected to see photos of your Zero all framed up and your P-38 ready for paint by now. We builders have a saying here in the States. "Sleep is optional". Very nice job on the P-47 ! Mirce, There are very few people who can take some balsa sticks and make a work of art like you have done. You have made it look easy, but of course, it take a master craftsman and an artist to create something so beautiful. Very nice work, my friend God Bless, Greg Anixter, Scottsdale AZ

RE: Metalmorphing the CARF P-47
Hi V That is exactly what it looks like. The aluminum even has the 'feel' of pure metal, as opposed to some tape finishes. The tape finishes are fine too, I have done them. But Ron's process is something that needs to be seen to understand the difference. Most pictures do not do it justice, because of the lighting. Very best Greg Anixter

RE: Metalmorphing the CARF P-47
I am another very satisfied customer of Metal Morphus. Ron's work is first class, and yes, the product is real aluminum. The finish is also surprisingly light. Look at a few of the outdoor photos posted on this thread a little earlier, to judge the overall effect. Bottom line is this process will produce an airplane that looks like it was a full size shrunken by a shrinking ray or some other high tech contraption. I am certain Wojek is going to have many hours of appreciation just looking at his investment. I am hoping he will post many high quality photos of the details of the finished P=47. RE: CARF F4U-1 Corsair build thread
Hi Sir, Thanks for your reply regarding the foil. Do you pre-sand with the 400 or do you sand it in place? I wondered how the sanding would work over details that "pop up" such as fasteners and hatches. Also, I saw on another party's post (possibly on the P-47thread) that they had a certain amount of fuel residue on the bottom of their plane from the big Moki. Was that your experience with #1? I migrated over from the jets page, but I read all 32 pages of posts in two settings. This is probably the best thread I have read on RCU in years. You are a busy man updating with al your comments and photos. I have learned a lot! I am always been interest in this plane, I just can't find a scheme that I want to do, and I have looked for one more than once :-) Thank you very much for posting Best regards! GA

RE: CARF F4U-1 Corsair build thread
Sir, this is a great thread, and you are doing a wonderful job on this plane. I have built a Fiber Classics Spitfire and I have covered several planes with a popular foil product. I am wondering how much detail you might loose between covering with foil and then painting? Do you have any problems getting the foil into or around the fasteners? Are there any air pockets to deal with? Do you use any sort of primer on the foil? Very best regards! Greg Anixter Scottsdale, AZ

RE: Ar9110 Receiver high fades and RX LED dimming?
Just as an update, I added the data logger to mine.... after 30 test turn ons, nothing, then all of a sudden, the light dimmed and cut out for a sec, and then the fades on both antennas started to run and run up to 999 on one and 250 is it on the other.... the radio still had control.... However after that my spektrun rx came out the model, there is a problem here. I will not use that rx again until I can find the problem.

I thought it may be the voltage going to the rx but have tested that and its 5.5v. I am running 6s lipo electric with the BEC in the esc.

RE: Ar9110 Receiver high fades and RX LED dimming?
Yes yes, I have been battling the same issue for a month now, and was beginning to think it was me..... mine is on a ar7100 I have posted on another thread that I was getting a glitchy servo... it would appear to be a pot in the servo or tx as the servo would not be smooth and jump.... but it was intermittent and I couldnt get it to do it twice. So I bought new servos and it got worse....... For 1 month now I have had the plane grounded trying to get it to repeat in vain..... however in the dark I first noticed this... sometimes the light on the rx will flash off, and then like you say, it dimmed.... I had not had the data logger in, but will try that now.... I think the rx will not work without the satellite... maybe it is a bad plug to the satellite? I am using the spektrum satellites that came with the rx. At least there are two of us!

RE: Servo sticking in center
Any more ideas with this would be appreciated.... I bought all new servo, and extension, fitted it and the problem was immediately worse..... Then after 30 more tests, could never get it to repeat..... Could it be the pots in the TX? Its a 9zap, maybe 1000 flights on it.... The servos appear to stick in one place like they are catching on something (they aren't) then suddenly jump to the correct position... Have hardly flown the plane this month, and have tested in 40 times, cannot get it to repeat.... its getting to the point where it would be cheaper to just crash it than waste anymore time..

RE: GOLDWING MX2
I have the 50 size 3d version on electric 6s 130 fights on it now.... The spats are pretty shot, unless your strip is very very smooth would leave them off.... The firewall/under carriage has a minimal ammount of glue.... my gear came off on the 7th flight (partly my fault) but with more glue it has done hundreds more flights now..... And the plane is very lightweight and fragile... Does fly well though I do like it.

If you could have done that in a 3D competition you would have cleaned up. The all new Machinchy 360 back flip. Camera zooms to the flight line and you just spit tobacco on the floor like Clint Eastwood in a Fist Full of Dollars and say 'oo wants it'

Servo sticking in center
Hi there, I have a Goldwing MX2 58" which now has 120 flights on it.. The elevator has a fairly cheap spektrum digital servo on it. When I first turn on, radio binds, I test all servos, and the elevator seems to hesitate (doesn't even move) then after a wiggle on the stick, shoots to life, and then works fine....... Haven't flown it since I saw this, and can't get it to repeat itself... do servos do this when the potentimeter track is worn around the center point? Any ideas or suggestions? Is this a common problem? Could it be the radio or tx? For the life of me cannot get it to do it again.... but for sure its done it today, and I thought I saw it last time I flew as well, but thought I was imagining it! 120 flights, its done say 12 hours of flying... do servos wear out that quick? Any suggestions welcome!

RE: IQ-Hammer Turbines
I have had great experience with Didi in Germany, and my old booster 160 so far seems great. One thing I am sure about is that people tend to only write on the internet when they have a problem, and are less motivated to write when things just work as they should. I would estimate that for every 1 person who complains on an internet forum (rather than complaining to the manufacturer) there is 10 people out there who just are using their gear with no motivation to tell everyone about it.
