RE: NEW YORK CITY BASH
i think ive been by that spot in queens..its near the a bridge..right? That spot on the other side of gateway is landfill...where there use to dump trash..not a good spot..and sometimes stinks pretty bad. They gated that part off a few years back when it became a dumping ground for "other stuff" Emaxx spot is a lil far but it looks like a great spot.

RE: NEW YORK CITY BASH
Dam EMAXX...not good. Why did u show me that?? Know i want to get one...lol. Ive Been checking the Super Flux out on youtube...now i really want to get a 1/5 scale! It is a funny that is just a bigger Savage....but maybe a 1/5 scale Savage is in the works...hmm...then maybe 1/5th traxxas?? [8|] I see there are alot more options for 1/5th scale offroad now.... I should be at the spot before 10am. If your buddy drives back there EMAXX, he should have no problem in a Jeep. Ill be drivin back there also in a 4wd van...that will also be a good place to work on our r/c (hopefully not us will have to...beside us nitro guys...lol)

RE: NEW YORK CITY BASH
Prolly the buggy. ONLY thing i dont like about HPI Bajas is that its only 2wd. BUT from what ive seen that doesnt stop it. a guy had one a few years ago behind gateway mail and it ripped thru that sand like it was nothing. Cant wait to your brushless in action! Im lookin at those 4wd baja clones or other 1/5 4wd R/Cs

RE: NEW YORK CITY BASH
Nice to meet u all... My Name is John (33). Im a recording engineer...i have a studio downtown bk where i mostly record vocals and mix music. Im also pro audio computer engineer... i work on computers at other studios. I got into r/c about 15 years ago...started with Tamiya 1/10th onroad electric kit cars... Old school days with 7.2v batteries, 20t motors and MECHANICAL speed controls lol. I liked the aspect of building the car from scratch. Never raced...just ran on any flat surface i could find. After totaling 3 HPI RS4s, i wanted something more durable that i could drive anywhere...so I got into monster trucks about 3 years ago with the Mini MGT. Liked it so much i that i got the bigger 1/8th MGT soon after. I would like to get into 1/5th offroad next....maybe a 1/5 brushless...[8|]

RE: NEW YORK CITY BASH
ill prolly get there around 10-11...maybe earlier. i would like to walk around a lil before we run...the spot is very big and we've only seen a small section....bushes hide parts of it. [8D] ....and im going to drive back there and park near the bushes...like i did last time. edit...u say 10ft jumps EMAXX?? 2 years ago when i use to go back there there was 20ft+ jumps someplace back there . Not sure if still there tho...need to scout.

RE: NEW YORK CITY BASH
one day ill get an electric buggy...but for now i like the sound and small of NITRO engines. I actually like the workings and complexity of it...offers more of a challenge. Even tho things are waaaay different now, but when i drive electric it reminds me of my old radio shack r/c's But sometimes, i do wish i can plug and go. Brushless and Lipo has made electric much more interesting.

RE: NEW YORK CITY BASH
When my truck flipped over the air filter got caught up in the sand...sand inside played a role..but the starter was actually slipping before that....either sand inside or me tryin to get it back started wore it out. Honestly..the ony reason why I checked to see if the pullstart would work is because I couldnt find the hex key to take the engine off chassis [8|]. Glad I checked it tho...but after hearing sooo many good reveiw I was really itchin to run the spec 3. I also found a spin start wand that has a 7.2 battay in it. I had it for backup in case the pullstart string broke. u can use the battery if u need vox...but I cant find the charger...still lookin for it.

RE: NEW YORK CITY BASH
My break in didnt go as plan either....... I didnt even have to break in new engine...or even install it. Since my current engine is a lrp spec 2 the pullstart from new engine fit. all I did was change the pullstart....and it fired right up. I had a feelin sand just messed the pullstart up and didnt go thru the engine. So I im just tuning now and ill be all set for Sunday.

RE: NEW YORK CITY BASH
Big Joes are great...i still have a fresh set on chrome rims...may bring them with me. I really havent ran them much because there a lil heavy and the 23mm pro line adapters i have suck. But u should have not problem with the weight with that 8.0 monster! I saw a good deal on ebay for some 40 series bow ties with light dish rims and won the bid...if they get here in time, ill bring those also those. My engine is def going to be here on thrusday morning...if im able to install and break in thursday evening, i would love to come out friday. But i wont have vehicle to get there (this weekend i will). Luggin my big R/C tote bag on older buses is no fun [:o] Also... E-MaXX360...just wondering if the the LIRR run near where u bash?..maybe we can meet up sometime next week for some bashin.

my engine shipped out today...just got the email. So Sunday ill deaf be ready. Sand. dirt, mud...doesnt matter to me...as long as i had fun getting my truck dirty, i dont mind cleaning it. The sand getting in my engine was totally my fault...was running without the body and the air filter wasnt zip tied. [:@]

RE: NEW YORK CITY BASH
just ordered my parts...new engine and clutch shoes....might as well change them now. I should be all set for this Sunday...I HOPE! lets see how many peps we get...then decide on a place to bash. Ill say either the spot behind bjs (Gateway Mall) or EMaXX360 Long Island spot. Seems like the Gateway Mall is a lil closer for most....but the Long Island Spot looks SWEEET for bashing.... [8|]

I would like to explore more of the spot in back of bjs...from what we've seen so far its a great bash spot. But im also down for checking other spots. RE: NEW YORK CITY BASH
I think im just going to get another engine....Losi 454. I currently have the LRP version of that engine in my truck now. I dont have time to disassemble engine to see if sand cause any more damage (im guessing it did). So ill order it tomr, install it by Friday, and break in Saturday. Im down for next Sunday (07-05-12)....lets see how many peps can make that date, then we'll see where everyone would like to go. (im down for where ever as long as its FUN!) [8D]

RE: NEW YORK CITY BASH
wish u can make it out there soon Goatcrapp. U can def have a good time back there with your Jeep (real)....just be sure u got some good off road tires cause that sand will def test your Jeep out. It just rain heavy the past day, so that made things alot better the day we went. Joe, your buggy (rc) seemed like it was doing good back there also with them paddle tires.

RE: NEW YORK CITY BASH
Yeah...we didn't get to run much in the back of BJs last week....and didnt have too much luck. My truck ran great for 2mins till it flipped over the air filter came off...sucked in some sand. I shut it down before it got bad, but i think sand messed up the one way bearing and pull start. I ordered both...hopefully ill get them by the end of the week. Besides that i got stuck..twice. I did drive back there in a 4wd Astro van and parked near the bushes out of site...i didn't get stuck in the sand tho (not this time...). The battery in the van died because we had the side door open and the interior lights drained the battery....thanks for the drop home Joe [;)]. I went back in a 4wd X3 and boasted it. The second time i got stuck was tryin to help a small FWD car that thought, for what ever reason, he could drive back there....thats when i got stuck in the sand and had to get pushed out of the hole my tires made [8|] The spot was awesome tho...we walk around a bit before we started our r/c's. The track that i saw there before is there is visible but not in good shape....further back theres a good spot for bashing and even a few sand piles for jumping. BUT we only checked out a SMALL area of the spot.... I recently spoke with a buddy of mines that runs his dirt bike and ATV back there....but they run on the other side, even futher back. He says there another bigger track back there [X(] .... i believe he said there where 2...one for ATVs and other for dirt bikes....with jumps and all. Best thing is he says NO ONE bothers them back there. I have yet to check the entire spot out...but its lookin better and better. [:D]
