ORIGINAL: RDJeff How about the Tiger 400? I've been eyeing one for a while, and even though it's an ARF, it ahould be okay with an FP10 or a PAW 1.5 insead of electric. Anybody have any thoughts on this one?
you may have to double up the firewall triangle stock to fuse sides too. aircraft built for electric only do not have enough strength to absorb the vibration from an IC engine.

JKR I bought a new (USED) Four Stroke motor for my Tiger 60. The Four Strokes are: suck, squeeze, burn, and blow. And it uses a glow plug for ignition! Mounting it may be a problem...dont want the exaust to burn off the fin and rudder.

RE: Goldberg Tiger Club
ORIGINAL: jkr_1100 I used titebond wood glue mixed down with milled fiberglass and a small amount of microballoons. I mix with these substances until i get a mix like thick cake batter. I use a disposble brush to wipe this glue into the corners. This has yielded a very strong and light model and I recommend it to everyone. this is not fuelproof.
do you mean foolproof or fuelproof ???

Exercise For Seniors
Exercise For Seniors Just came across this exercise suggested for seniors to build muscle strength in the arms and shoulders. It seems easy, so we're passing it on. The article suggested doing it three days a week. Begin by standing on a comfortable surface, where you have plenty of room at each side. With a 5 lb. potato sack in each hand, extend your arms straight out from your sides, then hold them there as long as you can. Try to reach a full minute, then relax. Each day, you'll find that you can hold this position for just a bit longer. After a couple of weeks, move up to 10 lb. potato sacks. Then 50 lb. potato sacks and, eventually, try to get to where you can lift a 100 lb. potato sack in each and hold your arms straight for more than a full minute. After you feel confident at that level, put a potato in each of the sacks; but be careful ...

My Tiger 60 ARF assembled as a tail dragger. Programmed with Flapperons, but use elevator to flap mix for tighter loops. JETT .90L required that I make a spacer for the muffler, using stock motor mounts.

Tiger 60 ARF with JETT Engineering 90 ! [:D] for my girlfriend bought at a swapmeet: Tiger II kit built, OS.52 4-stroke, in pink, and flaps! fun to fly with just the left hand only using: Throttle Rudder and Flaps ( flaps on the LH side slider) it does not need flaps at all, have to mix down elevator to keep it from climbing

RE: What happens if arf and kit building prices meet?
ORIGINAL: foodstick I always wonder what will happen when arf prices eventually climb up to the same level as building yourself ? It will probably happen. There were some good deals over the years before the climbing prices started in. My planes are a mix of arf, kit,and plan built planes ... there is a lot to say about each type.. .... Time will tell for sure.
When the cost of an ARF = the cost of a kit.... That is the "build or assembly" cost which you are referring to correct? Well how about the actual flying cost? The cost per flight before the plane is no longer airworthy. Or the cost per flight if the aircraft is sold (build cost - sale price) / # of flights. IMO the poor build quality of ARFs (inccorect use of glues, wood, materials, and engineering) = short life for the ARF. Example: doubled up "lite plywood" for a wing spar, led to in flight failure Example: hot-melt glue on a firewalls... led to in flight failure and firewall commming loose and falling out on 1st start of the engine! Example: wood grain direction on shear webs: Profile funfly ARF were parallel to top and bottom spars and to the ribs POOR design/build found only if the leading edge makes any contact with weeds, grass or runway. The kit built Uproar web grain was perpindicular to top and bottom spars good design. Example: KIT: monocote can be repaired, but the ARF stiky back material looks good on day one, well good luck on a fix...note this stuff is seldom used today...I wonder why?? Bob E.

RE: Best Kits
SIG Wonder: ++ Great Assembly Manual ++ Complete Quality Hardware ++ Wood and decals provided for each of the four versions little sanding is required to match the four ribs comming out of one die-cutsheet A great kit for the buck! To make this kit better would be to laser cut the wood. Then all the ribs will match.

RE: Llow time turbines for sale - Beware
ORIGINAL: S HARRIS Never really gave this much thought until I experienced it myself. I aquired a P70 that I knew all history about. 3 years old with only three runs which I was a part of. Then it sat for atleast 2 years. Installed in a sport jet and flew maybe 25 flights and it had rear bearing failure. Jetcat reported rust as the culprit although never heard anything unusual. Makes perfect sense. Going to be expensive repair. Like a mentioned earlier, I've been flying turbines a long time and got educated. Ouch! Just a heads up for those possible deals that sound good but could go terribly bad. Always check with seller and see how long it had sat and if oil was injected in lube port. A check up at Jetcat could have saved many $'s. FWIW :) Scott
As with any motor, 2-stroke 4-stroke or gasoline, that has been sitting for any lenght of time... Should be inspected, cleaned and lubed before returning to service. Several four strokers I have had sit had sticky-to-stuck valves. dissassembly required. An estate sale, I did, had many 2-strokes gummed up with oil turned varnish. Bake in the oven at 200 degrees then soak in 10% fuel. A gas motor, I bought, converted to alcohol had rusted bearings.
