RE: WACO YMF
Dan, I started building with a magnetic system a few years ago and much prefer it over pins. Do you have some magnets with the metal side plates? They hold a lot better that the magnets by themselves. You might also find that you will want/need more than 150 magnets. I bought 200 and find on occassion that I wish I had more. If you haven't found it already this is a great site for building with magnetics, http://www.airfieldmodels.com/information_source/how_to_articles_for_model_builders/tools/magnetic_building_board/index.htm. Happy building, Chris WB#133

George, The kit is new in box. The wingspan of the 1/6 scale is 60" with a flying weight of 7 1/2 Lbs and the suggested engine range is .45 to .60. I don't have my camera right now and am out of town on business all week but if you want a picture I can get you one next weekend. Chris WB #133

RE: WACO YMF
John, There is a website that has information on how to built a magnetic building system and sources for the magnets. I don't have the website right now as I am on the road but if you are interested let me know and I will look it up when I get home and post it here. Alternatively someone else here might know the site. edit - I just did a google search and the website for the magnetic building system I built is http://www.airfieldmodels.com/. He sells the fixtures or if you want to build your own. If you go to his page at http://www.airfieldmodels.com/information_source/how_to_articles_for_model_builders/tools/magnetic_building_board/fixtures.htm he gives information on building your own fixtures and where to get the magnetics. I put one together a few years ago and love it. Chris WB #133

Bill, Glad to see that you are well enough to be thinking about your projects. Hopefully your health continues to improve and you can get back to your building. Congratulations on your invitation back to Top Gun for judging. I, and I am sure that I am not the only one, am looking forward to you completing your plans for the 27% YMF plans. It is at the top of my list for planes to build when they are ready. Best wishes for 2011. Chris WB #133

RE: WACO YMF
Fishinchickens, I have an MVVS 26, which is the same as the Evolution 26 but branded by the original manufacturer, on a 1/4 scale Cub and it is a great engine. I talked with an engine reviewer from either Fly RC or Model Airplane News (I can't remember which one he does) when looking for an engine and he strongly recommended the MVVS 26. If I recall correctly he prefered it over the Zenoah 26 even though it is/was more expensive. I have found the engine to run very well. The engine mounts like a glow engine using beam mounts, I used the Hangar 9 aluminum mounts. Good luck. Chris WB #133

RE: 07 TopFlite Stinson build
Hi Guys, I just got a Top-Flite Reliant kit and am looking for suggestions on an engine. I am mainly interested in gas engines and may have a line on a new DLE 30 engine. Your thoughts on that engine or other suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks, Chris

Anthony, Sounds crazy and a real test of your ability to stick to it but what a dream. I am envious and would love to do this but don't think that I would have the perseverance to complete it. Good luck and would love to follow a build thread for this one. Maybe if you show it as a 100% scale you can do it here. Chris WB #133

RE: [Awaiting Approval]
Can anyone tell me what diameter dummy engine one wants/needs for the 1/5 scale Pica kit? I have seen one available on line at 11" and am interested in it but my kit is too buried at this point to get at it easily to take the necessary measurements. Thanks, Chris WB #133

RE: AMR 33% Waco YMF-5 Build
I have stopped using CA completely and now use a product called Super Phatic, by Deluxe Materials out of the UK. Super Phatic is an Aliphatic glue but was developed to work the same as CA, ie put the parts together and then apply. The glue does not set instantly like CA but at the rate I build it is not a problem and there are no fumes to worry about. I get mine from the Canadian importer, Ontario Adhesives, http://www.ontarioadhesives.ca/. I am sure if you contact them they can steer you towards a source in the US. I am very pleased with how the glue works and feel that it gives a stronger join htan CA because it soaks into the wood while it sets. There was an article in RC Report last year that tested the Super Phatic with very positive comments. Chris WB #133

Bill, Sorry, I didn't mean to sound like I was judging you just passing on the response I got from RC Report. And yes it is hard to meet the deadline if they keep on changing it. I look forward to, hopefully, seeing your joint article in the next RC Report. Chris, WB #133
