RE: CC80HV
Hi,This is Waaay of topic but as my emails to F3a Unlimited go unanswered this seems my only avenue. So here goes,I have been told that we are no longer able to buy Lipos from the USA for export to,in my case,Australia. Is this correct ? I have bought F3a batts previously and would like to again. Could someone (Chris Moon) confirm or deny please. Cheers Dambuster.

RE: full composite Wind S pro -Sebart
Hi Hanns, I fitted the fences (using Canopy glue, not CA). Took the plane to Adelaide where the current Masters champ flew his (same set up,same colour even !) (for our American friends note how COLOUR is spelt !! If I knew how to add "smileys" I would !!) back to back to mine and said "can't feel any difference ". In different weather conditions this might be change, but as having wing fences needs a more careful method of transport I deleted them. I find the Comp version more stable in roll than the wood ( I have both ) and prefer it for that reason alone. As you asked about flying speed if you have seen Macca fly then, speedwise, you have seen how John flies both his Winds...slow and VERY constant no matter up,down, sideways !!! Cheers. P.S. I know Macca has flown Winds with Seba set up and says he feels they need less mixing that way !!!..............Beats me !! But when a World class pilot speaks I listen,in the end your choice of set up.

RE: full composite Wind S pro -Sebart
Hi doogiehl, The fuselage is the same for wood and Comp versions,so thrust and incidences are common to both. The changes are all in the wings and stabs i.e. wings have more sweep, larger ailerons, tip flares etc. The stabs have a larger aerofoil and increased anhedral.I suspect the extra depth is just to accomodate the extra anhedral. As the stab spar has to be lower in the root (in the increased depth) this changes the spar in relation to the anti-rotation pin even more and hence the adjusters won't allow zero incidence. If you look carefully at the Fuz you will see that the stab was moved forward before the Wind S was released, what they didn't do was allow for the anhedral. If you email Seba,as I have, he will tell you to fly with 2-3mm of down elevator this just does not seem right to me,so something has to change !! He will also say to fit the fences with CA.....carefully !!! Lastly the wings have more dihedral so the wing tube is shorter (lighter!),so if you have wood and Comp versions don't mix the wing tubes !!! Cheers.

RE: full composite Wind S pro -Sebart
Hi,The following is the set up that won the Australian Masters 2012 ,not flown by me.......................I wish !! Pletty 30-09 Shultz ESC Rasa 20x13 Rhino lipo Downthrust 1 deg (note model comes with 1deg UP thrust) Right thrust,as it comes with ,maybe,a little more by trial. Wing incidence + 0.7 deg (need to fit adjusters to achieve this) Stab 0 deg. (NOTE It is NOT possible to achieve this as the model is supplied. The reason is that the Composite stab has more anhedral but the spar and anti-rotation pins are still on a common centre line !! The wood version needed the stab adjusters screwed to the max to get zero, hence with more anhedral zero is no longer possible. John and I moved the anti-rotation pin UP.) No wing fences. Cheers.

RE: F3A Results - SPOILER
As far as I know the Official F.A.I. max wind speed is 12 mt/sec.I also believe that at or above this wind speed at major events such as World Champs the competitors are asked if they wish to continue flying. Cheers Dambuster.

variable dual rate
Hi,I have a 14mz which is advertised as having "variable dual rates".I cannot find any reference to this in the manual or in the radio itself. As advertised it seems to be an excellent idea....but does it actually exist ? Regards Dambuster.

Chris,Again, thank you for your input. Seems 170mm is the magic number...provided the model is not too heavy !! Cheers Dambuster.

RE: e-Neptuno
Derek,Thank you for your input,I am trying to get the batts as far forward as possible and still may not make 170mm.The model is pushing weight wise so I will see where the CG comes out and if around 170 to 185 I will see how it flies. Cheers Dambuster.

RE: e-Neptuno
Roald Hi,Thank you for your input, much appreciated. I suspected a CG so far back would make the plane "twitchy",something I don't need !! I have already set the incidence at + 1 deg and strengthened the u/cart mount. Also I do fly simpler manouvers,I just like good models to fly them with so that I know its my mistake not the model !!! Thank you again. Dambuster.

Hi Guys,I have just bought an E Neptuno, could I get some idea of the CG location. The only actual numbers in this thread are 170mm and 192mm,yet I have been told that 210 i.e. behind the wing tube is the way to go. What are your thoughts? Cheers Dambuster.

RE: Australia?
Shark Hi,I am English by birth, but am an Australian Citizen (for 28 years) by choice, although Australia allows me dual nationality unlike USA.Reading this thread,I think most of the "advice" is from young and uninformed guys, and your research into Australia is incomplete.Sorry I don't intend to demean anyone but bear with me.Lets start with your car, have you checked the cost of shipping that car to Australia? Are you aware that the car has to conform to Australian Design Rules extant at the year of manufacture? It is likely that things like seat belts, the seats themselves, brakes, emission levels etc would not meet the criteria. The car cannot come into Australia if there is ANY mud found on it due to our fear of contamination of so many diseases that Australia is free of.Some states did/do not allow left hand drive vehicles without special permits. Your qualifications may not be recognised here,we are crying out for trades people, but yours have to be related to ours, check with the nearest Australia Embassy. To emigrate to Australia, not a refugee, you have to have health checks,x-rays etc.you have to pass a quiz on things Australian to become a citizen,do you know who our Prime Minister is ?We don't have a President .....YET. Any criminal record will exclude you from entry to Australia,I am sure this doesn't apply though! You have to lodge sufficient funds to cover ANY medical costs for two years or find someone in Australia who would go guarantor for your meds. I could go on,but I am sure you need to do a lot of research, you are not really up with the climate, this is a HUGE country and the climate varies dramatically.Much like USA. This may put things in perspective; I had been here about 8 months, living in Adelaide (great City,I now live in Mildura...where is that?),I went looking to buy a car.The salesman was American who had been here about the same time as me,he was one of the air traffic controllers sacked by Reagan,I said to him"this must seem like home it is so American".He said "no way it is just like England". I said "you are joking".He said "have you been to America"? I said "no".He said "well I've been to England"! That sort of puts us in the middle!!! Finally this is THE Best country, and if you do your research and meet the requirements and still want to come then GOOD LUCK,just remember nowhere is perfect and the streets have NEVER been paved with gold!!!!!!!!!!!

RE: Rhino 4900
Update on faulty pack.Very well qualified friend opened the pack and found the faulty cell physically damaged i.e. some one had dropped it!! It came wrapped in foam etc that was not damaged (that I could see),so I presume the damage was done in factory or warehouse. So I guess it is a QC problem of sorts.

RE: Rhino 4900
Hi,Recently bought four Rhino 4900s to make 10s packs. One pack had one cell at 0.9volts on delivery, another was unbalanced.Hobby City had me take photos of the really bad pack (the other did come up) hooked up to volt meter showing each cell voltage and showing the warranty code on the pack.About 3 weeks after emailing the photos I was credited with a new pack, which is on its way. I have to pay postage but this is better solution to warranty claims than the old way of having to send the faulty pack back to Hong Kong. I have not heard of a faulty Rhino battery prior to this and Icicles, perhaps QC has taken a tumble!

RE: Split list and classified section
It seems to me that seperate comps would only be devisive. We are all trying to FLY a pattern, the equipment we choose to achieve that end is personal. The fact that we have viable alternative propulsion systems makes life interesting, and I like to watch ALL pattern planes and pilots fly.

RE: Sebart Wind S Pro
Matt,Hi, removing the spokes on a TY 1 82mm spinner is worth 4.5grms.Filing the back of the others would improve airflow and save a little more.Removing the remaining spokes would be MUCH lighter!! See you at Monarto. Cheers Gray.

RE: Painting-Where did I go wrong?
Hi,I'm new to this posting so I hope this comes up O.K.The bleed under the masking is easy to fix, spray whole plane/fus whatever in base colour allow plenty of time to dry.Use 3M fine line to mask, wipe down with wax and grease remover, then tack rag(this applies to every coat of paint) then, and this is the trick, spray a light coat of the colour you have just masked off, paying attention to hitting the fine line tape. When dry, spray the colour you want in that area.Try it you will see for yourself.
