RE: TF P51 and Brushed Alum look?
Heres a weathered alluminum using basecoat-clearcoat paint. Having differant shades on the panels could be done using a little white or black added to the silver. I would use an airbrush on that part but just thought you might like to see another approach. good luck

RE: glassing turned yellow???
Hey Chickenhawk.. I looked at the "tape" thing you were talking about. I didn't see where or what it is or where I could get some. Alot actually. I can tolerate chart tape but it's getting difficult to find. Thanks

RE: glassing turned yellow???
Thanks Chickehawk.. I'll give that a go. I never used it before with the catalyst. I figured that it would be a bear to sand. I have never had a problem with the method that I had used for so long. Now I'm to the point that I should strip this thing down and re-shoot or,,,,,fly it this year and re paint next winter :) :) :) :) Thanks for the advise.

RE: glassing turned yellow???
chickenhawk.. I didn't use rattle can primer. I buy quart size primer and thin it down as recomended. It is not catalised though. Its a surfacer primer. I will use the sealer for now on. I just have never needed it before, I usually only use the sealer when repainting a plane. and only use it on small parts that I dont take the paint off. Otherwise I take the paint off completly

RE: glassing turned yellow???
Chicken Hawk...I agree with the chemical reaction. I never painted such a light color before this. Most of my colors are olive or Blue etc. so maybe I just never noticed this before. About ten years ago i painted a Yellow T-6 in the "NIGHT TRAIN" schem for a friend of mine. That schem had the same light gray but it never turned yellow. I just started this thread to vent a bit and hopefully make myself feel better. I'm not going to srip it down to repaint but, I'm extremely dissapointed in the out come. Once all of the polishing is completed it will have a good presence ( I hope )

glassing turned yellow???
I just finished up a Yellow Aircraft T-6 Texan. I have been using Z-poxy finishing resin for over 20 years or so. I've used automotive base coat clear coat from the same store etc etc etc.. Everything turned out perfect untill I put on the clear coat. The parts that were glasses turned yellow compared to the fiberglassed fuse and center section. I am very crushed by this and thought someone out there might know why. [&o] Like I mentioned before. This is what I hve used and done for 20 plus years and have never had this happen. thanks [:o]

Well I have wrote several kit cutters and apparently none of them want any business. I want a Jerry Bates Wildcat short or full kit. My Birthday is coming up and I will be in need of something to build. Sean Evans thus far is the only person/dealer for Yellow Aircraft that has responded to a pricing that I asked for on the SNJ I reall y want to build a F4F but dont think that I wouldn't build a SNJ Someone give me a price on a WILDCAT.

RE: F4F glass fuse ???
Thanks gentlemen. Robart said they are available but since they are out of stock it would be 4 to 5 months. YIKES !!! I'll have to build something else while I'm waiting :) After seeing butlerns TBM Avenger that he built from Kellog plans. I thought I would build a full wood kit. I also finished a Comp Arf Mustang over the winter. The Fischer kit would be the bomb though !!! I think I'll give Darrel a call at Sierra to see where he is at getting his gear out for the "CATS" Scott

RE: F4F glass fuse ???
Yes I very much have the skill. Are retracts available or am I going to have trouble locating them ? I'm hoping Robart has them or Sierra. Here are a couple shots to see if I qaulify for building :) I think I'll pass ;) The hueys cockpit, grenade launcher antenas etc are al scratch. The Phantom does have a glass fuse but the weathering and added bump and blisters added alot to this model. It was built by me for 2 OS .91 and I then converted it to a Turbine. I hope you can help with my questions Thanks Scott
