RE: TF GS P-47 IS HERE!
Those were exactly my thoughts when I started building. I,m slowly starting to come to terms with having to accept the larger wing and a cradle for the fuse. The amount of additional work required to pull off a 2 or 3 piece wing may just stall the project into non completion. I mention that as I,ve done it before, with lots of kit bashing only to never complete the airplane in the end. What power plant are you considering? I,ve got a DA50 sitting here that I know will work well with cowl ballast added[ 2lbs est.] but am thinking about going with a Brison 4.2 69cc as they are manufactered about an hour down the road and are 1.5lbs heavier than a DA. Good luck Dave

RE: TF GS P-47 IS HERE!
I considered doing that on my kit built version but the outboard wing panels would be very small in comparison to the center section due the the relatively wide spaced landing gear setup. Another option I,m playing with is a 2 piece wing attaching to the fuse at the wing root [kinda like the Robart P-47]. Dave

The Cub looks good! I,ve always regreted not getting a Dave Patrick models Super Cub when they were available. Does anyone have any specs to share on the cub? I,ve got a Saito 220 thats still looking for a home since I decided to gi with a FPE 2.4 in my 78" 35cc Extra 300. Dave

RE: Top Flite P-47 ARF refinishing.
Hi Guys, Your P-47 looks awesome! I like the idea a a better looking ARF thats quicker to finish than a full blown fiberglass project. I,m thinking about getting the larger ARF version of this plane and doing a recover job, so that I have a scale plane to fly this next season. I want to save a full on scale project for my kit built P-47 that will take a couple of years to complete. What is Silkspan and what is the application method? I assume its a fabric iron on covering that you them prime to fill the weave and then paint, is this correct? I also like your use a just a few rivets along with the panel lines it gives a nice scale without spending hours on thousands of rivets. Thanks for any info you can share. Dave

Very nice build up thus far. I see you have removed the blue covering from the nose is it just ironed on top of the silver base covering? Keep the pics coming, I,d like to see what you do with the cowl color wise. Dave

RE: Top Flite Giant P47 arf IS coming
Ok thanks about GH. I think I will take advantage of the CC offer and buy a DLE 55 at the same time as the plane. That way I,ll get the engine for $375cdn which you really can,t beat for price. Any thoughts on the loudness [ is that a word?] of the covering scheme. Are the colours slightly muted in person?

RE: Top Flite Giant P47 arf IS coming
I like your idea about the Christmas present, I,m going to remind my wife this weekend on how special it was when bought me that OS 90FX a couple of years ago for Christmas. How does it look in person? I have been considering buying a TF giant P-47 or the P-51 ARC and am struggling with the loud colour scheme on the P-47. I,m a DA50 guy [a couple of them] and have also been rethinking my position on buying a DLE55. I have always had good service from DA and am hesitant to save the $180 on the DLE only to have a problem [ignition etc] and have to spend the money anyways. I,ll be watching as you build and depending on my direction I may just be joining in with the buildup. Dave p.s. Where did you buy yours from in Canada?

RE: Gas Ugly Stick
Thanks for getting back to me. I recognize it now, its the Black Magic airframe that caught my eye. My hope is to build up a light weight patternish [is that a word] looking airframe to use my wing/stab on, for just fooling around with AA/3D flight. I was on another furum last evening and came across a Ultrasport 60 that was lightened, if I was to enlarge the plans that fuselage may just work. Good luck with the Giant Stick. Dave

RE: Thoughts on GP 28% Extra 330s
I was looking for a 45GX just a few weeks ago for my GP 27% Edge 540. The 45GX has been discontinued by MVVS since they started producing the 50GX. Its unfortunate because the Magnesium cased 45 is a great light weight engine for the 25% to 28% planes just as Airtech stated. I ended up getting another DA 50 and have a 3 blade Mejzilic prop for it, since I don,t need all the power and it will provide additional prop clearance. Dave

Yeah removing the Robart hinges will definately be a pain. I thought about it but then decided it isn,t worth the effort. Thats why I,m hoping they release a ARC in the near future so that I can get one of these completed over the winter.

Hi guys just lurking in the background as I,ve always loved the Bearcat and have considered getting a VicRC fiberglass fuse with the Holman wing kit version. I,ve got a couple of questions for you guys if you don,t mind. Billyj which canopy have you got placed on your Rare Bear? Ive always loved the Bearcat and a Unlimited Racer would be a different scheme to model. Hi Vic, would your fiberglass fuse be appropriate to turn into a Rare Bear. thx Dave

RE: New Funtana Pro !
Hi Rodders, Nice Funtana! I,ve got one sitting in a box waiting to be built. The DL30cc engine should do nicely. Another option is the new Syssa Performance 30cc gas engine would appear to be the perfect power plant for this plane. Its rear exhaust, so running a tuned pipe for extra power shouldn,t be problem. They are selling for approx. $400 shipped anywhere [so the site says] The weight is also another factor that will weigh in this engines favour. I,m planning on getting one in the coming weeks. Do a search here on RCU for more info on both. Dave

RE: 27% Edge 540 GP or 27% Extra 330S GP
I agree with everything that has been said above. However I also think that the GP Extra 330 is a great deal from Tower right now and they fly really well with a DA/DL 50cc gas engine. I,ve seen one flown locally by a first time gas engine pilot and he had no problems what so ever with it. Landings were very smooth with a nice shallow sink rate with the throttle set just above idle. The wing area of 1200 plus sq. in. allow this airframe coming in at 14.5-15lbs to perform really well. You could get one this year, use a 50cc light weight gas engine and good servos that can all be transferred to a larger airframe when you,ve got the cash available. Lots of guys cut there teeth on the H9 Extra 260 and then moved up a year or so later. Good luck and check out the build thread here on the GP Extra 330 by KPROTON its got lots of good info in it.
