RE: On Road Chassis.. WITHOUT Suspension!?
It can be done. Do a Google search on the Associated RC12E. This was Associated's first 1/12 rc car. It had no suspension. It relied entirely on chassis flex. The same system was used on the Associated RC100 1/8 gas pan car. Don

RE: Help Me Identify a 1/10 Electric Car PLEASE
That is a YR-F2! The second one was the YR-F2 Special. It was all carbon fiber and was equipped with shocks. It's a bit rare-clean it up and run it! You will find that it runs very well. In fact it is probably the best FWD TC ever built! Enjoy!! Don (yes I have one-runs great)

The Manta Ray diff will work just fine if you replace the thrust bearing set with a 5x11 bb. I've done this with my son's TA-02 TC.(front and rear) Don

Speed control
Hi, I have a Falcon 3.5 Tunnel Hull which I'm converting to electric. To that end, I've also got an Aquacraft EP-1 outboard which I've remotored with a Feigao 10L. I was planning on using a 2- 4S MEC A123 packs in parallel for power. What speed control would do the job? Thanks, Don

Parma and Cobra both have G-10 in sheet form. Sizes however are .063,.093 and .125 inch. Also do a search for model rocket fin material. Don

RE: A123 Question Form
No problem. I got to autocross once myself-it was alot of fun. Years ago I had a 72 Honda Civic. It ran great and handled good. I trophied (4th) first time out. It was the car-not me!! A couple of years before that I had a DKW Auto Union-FWD with a 1000cc 2stroke 3cylinder. It was about the size of a VW Bug-but a little quicker. Don

RE: A123 Question Form
No I'm not an engineer. I do a lot of building and modifying. Chassis flex can help a great deal when there is not enough suspension compliance. The MRS4 is a pan car and quite a few of the after market designs utilize chassis flex to some degree. How often do we really get to run on a truly flat surface. Most of the time chassis flex is used on less than ideal surfaces to improve traction. I don't know everything, but I have been enjoying this hobby for 40+ years. Don

RE: A123 Question Form
No, the chassis is from Hole Shot Engineering. It's .063 G-10. I mounted the servo above the chassis like a Dragon Griffen. I also used Ti adjustable rods in place of a top deck. I wanted the entire chassis to flex in the way it needed to allow for the best handling possible. This included unbinding the front end by mounting the servo above the chassis. Since those shots were taken I replaced the stock motor with a Orion Coreless. I've yet to run it in a race- but it runs very good in the street. And as you can see all the components are mounted as low as possible to give it a low cg. Don

RE: Racer Rides : Members Onroad Racers
That's a Yokomo YR-F2 FWD. It handles as well as the white one which is a Kyosho KX1 4WD. I designed the red one. It's a RWD with DD. I'm trying to get an idea of the handling characteristics of the various configurations. Don

RE: RC CAR HISTORY
While I can't give you a long list-my first RC was a Cox dune buggy with a single channel tx.(steering) Second was a Jeerobee 1/12 .049 2channel road car. Not to long after that I got an electric conversion of the Jeerobee. I believe it was a Bolink-diff, we don't need no dang diff. Don

RE: 1/8 buggy conversion question
Most buggy conversions use at least 2 6cell packs. IIRC the KV on that motor is around 1900. It wouldn't run very well on 1 6cell pack. You would be pushing that speed control to it's limits. You really need a Max or better yet a Monster. Don

Go back to MEC, they sell silver power paste that they use between cells for better conductivity. Have you thought about 2- 4cell spts wired in series? They could be moved around to adjust your cg. Don

RE: Nimh charger for Lipo
There is no substitute for a good charger. For instance, for nicads and nimh I use an Astro Flight 110D. For my A123 Li-ion packs I added a Dapter. The Dapter is an adapter that will allow me to charge Li-ion & Lipo packs safely. Are you going to run cars with your Lipos? For 1/10 scale you're going to want 3800-5000 mah packs. These normally charge at 1C. A 3800 Lipo would charge at 3.8 amps and this takes a minimum of one hour. Please be very careful with Lipos, careless charging procedures can do a huge amount of damage.
