thats the tricky part . he wont know if the motor has anof power to turn the pump and get up to the rpm to make the power to stay going . has far as the stalling part . its going to need to be drict drive b/c of the cooling two as long as he uses the large flywheel on the motor he will be good . been there done that . my set up was a 31" hull with a 28mm drive and a ofna .32 motor . if u like to see it heres a link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=styk7GQaX1M&feature=plcp what kinda manafold are u looking for

RE: Unofficial
if u have the alum cupler im not sure on the set screw but u could go to the next size . has far as the impeller rubbing i would check and see if the cupler side bushing is wore out couseing slop in the drive line . if you take to much out in the impeller houseing it will couse the pump to lose suckon and slip.

what size engine is that? u need to watch your weght with this hull if you add to much it will be like driveing a brick . and i used just reguar two part epoxy when i did some fiberglass jobs on this boats . it wont hurt the abs . just be carefull b/c if you luke any nitro fuel it will delamnate the fiberglass from the abs .
Those look great but like Dragonfire said it's for a different jet drive unit. I'd have to replace the whole thing and looks like the shaft is a different diameter as well so maybe not. DragonFire, I'd really appreciate if you could bang me out a couple of those pieces. I'm considering going shopping for a permanent marker cap that I could manipulate to work for a temporary fix. What would you normally make the parts out of? thanks, -Nathan
I have made them out of two part plastic that u mix like e-poxy . but i take it all u need is the steering nozzle ? if so i have a better idea ill make some up or try to find the pic i posted on here it was like 2 years ago i have two different sizes one is the same size and the other is a hair smaller it puts out a more concentrated stream

RE: The Unofficial all things Jet drive thread
ORIGINAL: orangewheels01 Hi all, nice to see this thread still going strong!![:D] it was very helpful when i was modifing my nqd jetboats. i have bought a kmb jetsprint boat now grp with a 28mm jet. I got in contact with thomas kehrer from kmb to ask what type of ''brushless'' setup i could try and he recommended a 1600kv outrunner 540/600 size motor 1500w 600a and a 50 to 60 amp esc and run it on 4s 14.8lipos or 5s 18.5 cells, which i did, but with low kv such as this even running 4 or 5 cells it still goes basically does not give me eough revs and is the same as the 700 neodym brushed motor i took out! So it seems i have been given so strange advise. wheather kmb do not want people over stressing there jet units with too much power i don't know?? On checking with you guys on here it seems the most popular motor your all using for the 28mm jet is 3000 to 3600kv motors 120a plus esc's running only 2 and 3s cells. Also does anyone know what the best brushless rpm for the 28mm jet? If would anyone be kind enough to recommend a good motor and esc to use for the size jet and boat im using i would be very grateful guys, many thanks regards to all.
its been a while seince i was last on here . do u have a auqajet with a grumpner 28mm ? if not i did that hull with a grupner drive and 36mm 3600kv 100a esc watercooled and in running 5cells 18.5v . it runs great but youll need every bit of 100amp crated lipos or yell fry the batterys

RE: The Unofficial all things Jet drive thread
ORIGINAL: grael Anyone notice Hobby king is planning to sell large jet drives in a couple of weeks from now ? http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/blog.asp And I've been experimenting more with my vacuum forming. I found that for the 450mm long boat, 0.5mm sheet for the hull works, but looks like it might be too weak for a high power setup like I have in my fibreglass TyRap boat. 0.5mm hull and deck is only 97 grams of weight ! 0.75mm thick hull feels a lot more sturdy, and with 0.5mm top is what I'd consider to be a reasonably durable racing setup. I figured out that I can vacuum mould over nuts or washers, or small magnets, and then bond the deformed piece (with a magnet inside) under the deck for snap on covers. I have a light weight bonding method, and I also found a clear compound that adheres to the PETg plastic, that would also be great for bonding in running lights to the hulls Building the fleet, see the photo! I need more drivers now...
heres a pic . from the hobby kind site its a 26cc drive

RE: The Unofficial all things Jet drive thread
ORIGINAL: Quicksilver So I decided to check my old thread once more, damn you guys just keep going.. glad this thread has helped so many. All my boats have been dry docked for over a year now. Bought a really fast rc truck and an old antique pond yacht but my fast boats are in storage. I'm glad to see so some familiar names like grael, whom I consider one of the fore most expert in jets and sundogz..... are dragonfire and headhunter still here, I dont really have the time to look back through every page. But thought I'd say hello.
hey man long time . yeah im still loming around sometimes not log in . got one more build up my sleve. I came across a guy in aus that makes home made glass 1/6 jet sprint . trying to get the fond rounded up for parts . and not sure if i wont to go brushless ,nitro ,or gas . still up in the air . anyway hows the little one doing? and what kinda truck you rolling

RE: Unofficial
ORIGINAL: wparsons I only ran it once with the battery in front like that, any video of it (except in the pool) was with the battery across the hull.  It's better with the extra dead weight, but I think there's something else happening too. In other videos it looks like you don't have to totally stop the motor to re-gain prime.  Mine has to stop spinning, and sometimes sit for a second before it picks up water again. My only conclusions are something is funky with the impeller, or I need more weight to get the whole pump submerged more.  At rest the water line doesn't totally cover the flange on the jet drive at the transom, so maybe it's just too high on the water?
I have had that problem befor but i had some grass raped around the impeller . also like sundogs was saying about putting the battrys on the sides of the pump well drop your water line in the back . could you get a pic of the bottom of the intake ? also just to make sure the impeller is all the way back up agenst the stater . if its pulled just a little bit from it your only getting half of the impeller in contact with the what would be a wear ring for a jet ski this will give a primeing problem .
