If they say they have never heard of that before that's absolute rubbish! Mine was the same and so was ParrotGirls.

Hi Corrine, I think you'll find it's the bitumen of the runway that's done it. I've had the same tyres on mine for about three years and they are like new. I have a slight toe in but hardly noticeable really. Dave

I've got a Seagull 1.20 size PC9 flying on the same motor swinging a 15.5 x 12 4-blade and it sounds awesome. I also have a 96" Austars Cessna 152 using the same set up as well swinging an 18 x 14 - it sounds great as well.

lol, sounds like a dig at electrics...if I put my Benedini sound system on board would that be better? My club mates are all taking the piss out of me coz I've gone electric after being a staunch "smelly" for so long

RE: KMP New Spitfire Mk XIV
Hi guys, I've converted my Spitfire from a 28cc gasser to electric and I've balanced her at 110mm. I've got a Turnigy 200kV motor on 10S Lipo swinging an 18 x 14 APC and I'm going to trial 19 - 20" to see how she goes. I've got the same set up in a 1.20 size Seagull PC9 swinging a 15.5.x 12 4-blade and she goes VERY well. Can't wait to get the Spit back in the air.

RE: Seagull PC-9 120 size...
Hey Mark, Thanks for the kind words. There was no deadstick, just a sudden change from level flight to vertical down from 200'. My best guess is the receiver was noty positioned properly - other than that I don't know. I had had many flights with her (too many to count), so I was very depressed about it. The 28MLD gasser fitted fine. All I needed was the correct stand-offs to clear the cowl and she was right to go. It did need weight in the tail to balance so I put the receiver and ignition packs back in the rear compartment (that needs strengthening by the way - the tray comes apart very easily). In order to get the nose gear to fully retract you will have to cut away some of the mounting so you can get the retract unit down low enough - might consider that when I put doors on her... By the way, the new one has a 200Kv Turnigy motor on 10S Lipo...swwweeeettt!

RE: Seagull PC-9 120 size...
Hi guys, sorry to report my PC-9 went "off air" the other day and she's totalled - engine too! I've bought another one (just can't stay away I guess) and this time I am going to go electric with her to see how she goes. I've just converted my Austars 96" Cessna 152 to electric, a CMPro Mosquito and a VQ P38 so the Pc-9 should go really well. I'll let you know. Dave

RE: AUSTARS Model Pty Ltd - Cessna 152 ARTF
Steve, I have glassed my fuze with 3/4oz all the way to just behind the rear windscreen. I have strengthened the areas around strut fixtures with ply inserts and 6oz glass. I do some basic aeros with mine but limited to loops and Split S. I have also strengthened the plate where the main gear attach to the fuze by using firewall ply and additional bolts. Where possible I have got rid of ALL blind nuts because they are normally the first things that pull free. I use brass threaded inserts for all my strut fixings, undercarriage and even the cowl - although now I've gone electric the cowl is not so much of an issue. My all up weight is now 7.5kg which is quite a lot more than she wqas when she first flew, but she is MUCH stronger and more resilient. Dave

Hey guys, I too have an Austars Cessna 152 which I originally flew with an SPE 26CC gasser, then a MLD 28CC gasser, and just last week I converted to electric with a Turnigy 270KV, Sentilon 100A ESC and two 5000mA 5S in series. Swings a 16 x 16 APC prop and flies really scale like on about 1/3rd power. Just love it! Dave

RE: Seagull PC-9 120 size...
Hey thanks Kostas. I flew her today and tested the airbrake and boy it made a huge difference to her approach. I firsat tested it at about 300 feet with wheels and flaps down and she porpoised when i deployed the airbrake - good sign! On approach she was very stable and did not yaw at all...had to appy a bit more throttle because she was coming in too slow. First landing as bit crappy, so went again and this time came in with the right amount of power and she landed really well. The runout was significantly less than without the airbrake so I'm pretty pleased with it. By the way, I've changed the pics so they show the colours better. Dave

RE: Seagull PC-9 120 size...
Hi Kostas, Thanks for your very kind words. She is extremely stable on approach although she does come in hot due to the ratio of wing to fuze - she is after all, a jet trainer. I use Flaperons although I don't think they do too much in the way of providing more lift - if the engine isn't burning she doesn't float too well, lol. The pics I have included are a bit green because of the flash so don't worry about the colour. Happy to answer any more questions. By way of balance, I have put the receiver pack and the ignition pack in the tail along with some lead to fine tune the balance. I have glassed the front of the fuze and replaced the balsa in the wheel wells with ply because the balsa is VERY soft...maybe Seagull will improive the quality of the wood they use in future kits. RE: Seagull PC-9 120 size...
Hey Guys, I've been flying mine for several months now using a MLD 28CC gasser. I've just put on a 15.5 x 12 4 blade APC prop and she flies very scale like. If I want blistering performance I put on a 18 x 8 or 17 x 6 2 blade and she goes like a cut cat. She weighs just over 5.5kg with Spring Air retracts (I too ditched the kit mechanicals after two retract servo failures!) I've just finished making an air brake paddle similar to the full-size to slow her down on approach and will test it tomorrow (weather permitting). Having flown the full sized Roulette PC9-A, this is a dream R/C model and very much like the full size in appearance except for a few things like spinner, no flaps and no air-brake (pilots could be better but they are not too bad really). I love this thing and looks fantastic in the air. Dave OK, so the last pic is a full size...just had to put it in!

Hi guys, I'm absolutely loving reading this build - fantastic job!!! I had the pleasure of flying a PC9-A for two hours some years ago and have three in my R/C hangar. My latest is a 120 size Seagull kit with a 28CC gasser swinging a 15.5 x 12 x 4blade and she is such a pleasure to fly. I'm really looking forward to seeing the finished product you have here - congratulations!!!!

I used aluminium stand-offs on my CMPro Mosquito and flew it on Turnigy 4260 500s. Getting it centred was reasonably easy using a template to ge the holes in the right place.

It was an absolute thrill to see her flying. She ran down the strip at full speed "cannons" firing, and looked magnificent. I must say the Benedini sound system sounds great! I was exhausted when I got her safely on the strip again...looking forward to more flights. (two under the belt so far) Waiting for some better spinners to arrive ...

I agree. Mine didn't slow down at all with flaps deployed but I did get a better approach today and she pulled up on the runway quite nicely. We have a synthetic surface and she runs out nicely. Shame the photos are a bit blurred.

RE: DeHavilland Mosquito
Also not wanting to offend, but I agree about the two-strokes. I've heard a Twin Acxe with two .45s and it sounds okay but not appropriate for a warbird, IMHO. That's why I began to install .52FS Magnums and have had trouble getting them to run consistently in the Mosquito even though they run perfectly in my L4 Cub and Tiger Moth (test beds). I have since installed Turnigy 500's running of 5S Lipos, and a Benedini Sound System which sounds just awesome! Cannons included!
